Barta's is a huge dimly lit and dirty warehouse, chock full of treasures. He carries goat, cow, sheep, deer hides and more. You can buy them by the foot or scraps. The cow veg leather was $3.50 per foot the day I went, varying weights. Ask to have them measure the thickness if you need a certain mm. The scraps were $2.50. I bought 10 lbs for $25. The smell when you first enter is hide putrid. This ain't Tandy folks! Once you go further in the sweet heady aroma of leather wafts up. Four important tips! They only take cash or check. Bring a flashlight as it's pretty dim. Wear old clothes! There's a water hose outside you can use to wash up afterwards. Have fun in this freakin amazing leather paradise!

It is an older warehouse with bins and bins of scrap leather as well as many, many beautiful large pieces from a variety of animals. As teenagers, they were on a tight budget so went with mostly scraps, but we will definitely be back.
