I never thought to leave a review for a funeral home, but…read more.. 5 years ago, my baby girl died in my arms. The hospital did not have burial services so I was responsible for transporting my daughter's body directly from the morgue to the funeral home. It made grieving even more difficult being asked questions like "Do you want to bury her or cremate her?" I wanted to say "NEITHER! She should be alive here with me!" Some funeral directors were cold and just focused on making a sale. Some were empathic, but Ms. Avis went the extra mile. She was very warm and genuine. She really cared about my grief and my financial situation. She even drove me to the cemetery on the day we buried my baby girl. We were able to have friends' and family's financial support with a GOFUNDME to help pay for a very beautiful headstone. When you're so deep in grief and lose a loved one unexpectedly, you NEED someone to comfort, support, and help you make decisions about things you don't have much time to think through. We were really blessed to have Ms. Avis and her team be there for us during one of the most difficult times in our life.

Every…read morefamily has their own experience, and that is always respected -- my experience was nothing less than amazing from start to finish. I did not encounter any form of disarray. Every part of the process, from making the arrangements to laying my mother to rest, was exceptional. The few small issues I did have were corrected immediately and without any hesitation. I could not be more satisfied or happy with the service McWhite's provided, and I would definitely recommend them to family and friends. A special shout‑out to Mr. McWhite himself -- thank you for the incredible surprise of the 1920 Hearse. I was completely overwhelmed when I stepped outside the church and saw how my mother would be escorted to her final resting place. It was the perfect way to honor her, and it matched her spirit so well: class and elegance. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I never thought I'd be reviewing a cemetery but after visiting it yesterday, the experience was…read moreeye-opening enough for me to write one! Came here with family for a prayer service and watch my late nephew's ashes rest in his niche. The establishment was well-kept, very clean, ornate and gorgeous -- it really does not feel like a typical cemetery that I am accustomed to. Even though it seems like a somber moment, you don't feel sadness walking around here. I felt peace. I felt like everyone here, no matter how tragic their passing was, have moved onto the afterlife with peace. Nothing eerie at all. Even my mother was so impressed, and this was her second time visiting, that she went to the office to inquire for herself. It wasn't until yesterday that it has hit me that burial places are a lot like home-buying, the prices fluctuate, you can buy or sell your plots, and luckily here, there is NO interest rates. That means the moment you buy your spot, you can put a down payment and pay the rest of it at your leisure without worrying about interest. People go to funerals to attend for someone else but yesterday has put a thought into persepective, "What do I do when it's MY turn? What do I want?" My husband and I also had a heart to heart conversation about our preferences too... after all, my nephew had passed when we least expected it so it can happen to ANY of us. I'm glad that we had our talk and that my mom put the plan in motion for her future too. Mrs. Rosa was very helpful, even offered us waters and additional chair for our group. Even the young receptionist was very sweet and professional. Just note that this is a Catholic cemetery, one of two Catholic cemeteries in South Florida at the time of writing this review, so not only is this establishment a rarity, but also very strict. You would have to be a practicing Catholic, so yes, they will ask for the name of your parish. I will ALSO note that they use a lot of paperwork -- which may raise concern that there is no digital database for safekeeping. They do provide copies of your paperwork so KEEP THAT SAFE so in that way if someone misplaces a paper, you have your copy. All in all, a gorgeous cemetery both inside and out. Well maintained. And I saw there's a thrift shop... maybe someday when I'm in the area I can do some shopping!
