I ate here with my parents while home for a visit. It's very much a gas station diner, an older look than an Irving's Truck stop but a similar menu.
My dad had the pan fried cod which looked amazing. A huge piece of fish with lots of rice. Mom's chef salad looked reasonable but no home cooked ham, looked canned to me but she enjoyed it. I had the Nfld style spit pea soup, which I believe substitutes salt beef for ham, and it was delicious.
Although you wouldn't expect it in most places, I have gotten use to homemade bread and rolls at these smaller places on the Rock. No such luck here, but the rolls were very good just the same.
So why a 4? Service was over-the-top friendly and prompt. Really made you feel welcome and at home, so that's worth a point to me.
