I had my eye on a Surly Bridge Club, which would allow me to do moderate single track and gravel riding. Thankfully, Kevin Madzia of Century Cycles in Peninsula, Ohio, informed me that he had two Bridge Club frames in my size, one of which they had begun to build. These people are actual lifesavers. I stupidly stripped my front axle trying to remove my front wheel, and walked in ready to buy a car rack just to get my bike home. Instead they managed to remove the axle for me, taught me proper bike handling, gave me a stopper for my calipers, told me where to special-order a replacement part, and only charged me the cost of the patch kit I meant to buy anyway. Rented bikes to ride on the Erie Tow Path trail. Bikes were fine. The ride was very good. They made a photo copy of my charge card and drivers license. When we returned the bikes I was handed the photo copy of someone else's charge card and drivers license which meant my info was given to that other person- who had left already. The store manager did end up driving to where that person was staying to get it back but the potential damage was done. They could easily have snapped a picture of my info. I had to freeze my account and apply for new card. I am also going to have to spend hours tracking down and changing all auto payments. This was extremely careless. What a miserable experience we just had at Century Cycles in Peninsula. We called ahead and brought our bikes in for a tune up. The guy at the register told us to bring our bikes into the service area. We hadn't even put the kick stand down when the surly service guy said,"Get out of here! You're not supposed to be back here!" I tried to ask about a " clicking" issue I was having but the same guy didn't want to hear it. He glared and said," We will look at it. You are not supposed to be back here!" After waiting 45 minutes we got an estimate for $435 for the tune up for two bikes including the coupon " special." I would've paid it if the guys working there weren't condescending and RUDE. Ended up taking my bikes to Eddy's. read more

Dissatisfied with my customer service experience here. I called in a day before my dad was set to have some work done on his bike and spoke with two different employees. I wanted to pay for his maintenance the next day as a surprise for my dad. After taking my payment information and guaranteeing me a call the next day when my dad was in there, nothing happened. My dad ended up paying. I called in to see what happened and if they could charge me for the service retroactively and was again less than impressed. They barely apologized, put me on an awkward hold and then said there was nothing they could do. I understand mistakes happen but they could have been sincere at least. *Update* We stopped in again before our bike ride and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. While we were a bit disappointed about the mishap with my dad, the remaining experience was great. I would stop in again. read more

After my brother asked me about places to bike in Cleveland and I recommended the Towpath Trail, I set off looking for a place to rent a bike near the Towpath so that he and I and our respective SOs could have a Towpath party when I came to visit. Lo and behold, this bike shop is almost literally on the Towpath, rents bikes by the hour rather than the day, and is only fifteen minutes or so from my brother's place. Winning! We got here close to opening time on a Sunday morning to make sure there would be rentals available for us, and even though there were two decent-sized groups ahead of us we still managed to get a good selection. I was happy for the quick-release seats so that we could all get a comfy ride, but we did have to go back a couple times to try to get my brother's bike to cooperate and eventually just trade it for one whose seat would stay up. Luckily the guys at the shop were friendly and willing to put up with us. :) We had a great time riding the Towpath and I will definitely have this place on my radar for future nice-weather trips to Cleveland. read more

Due to some hip issues I no longer could hike so a friend introduced to biking. Glad she did because I love it. As a novice I had no idea what I needed for my bike and me so stopped into Century after a ride on one of the CVNP trails. What a knowledgeable and friendly staff. I ended up buying quite a bit of gear and a few days later when I blew out a front tire I went back for tire repairs. I thought I'd be out of business for a few days but the tech immediately assessed the tire, gave me some options and repaired it on the spot!! No down time. I'm aware of the customer experience and these people are providing over the top service. A fluid trainer is my next purchase and I won't go anywhere else or online other than Century. I stopped in today to get my "Day 6 Journey" semi-recumbent bike tuned- up. Doug at the front desk greeted me promptly and courteously. I needed some assistance, so Doug got Joe, one of their technicians, to go out and help me with a couple of questions that I had. Joe was knowledgeable, helpful, and considerate. Last summer, during the sales and delivery process, I got a great deal of assistance from a technician by the name of Kyle, and from another technician by the name of Ed. And, yes, even Joe helped! Also, Kevin, one of their sales guys, was quite helpful as I navigated the different options. Honestly, I can't say enough positive things about Century Cycles. They have a lot of product choices, and they have employees who treat customers like family. I've been to other bicycle shops, but none compares to Century Cycles! read more

I took my Giant Roam 3 that I purchased there in for the free 90 day tune up and when I picked it up there was an issue with my rear light, Doug figured everything out and set me up with a brand new light that the store had in stock.
