It was jam packed -- all inside the flour tortilla -- with meat, rice, red beans, lettuce, pico, sour cream, and cheese. He said it was very good. My "cocktail" was excellent and refreshing. Tons of fresh delicious shrimp in a tomato/ketchup based sauce with pico and cilantro. Slices of ripe avocado were layered on top. I added a bit of sugar to cut the acid -- as I do to most tomato based dishes. I'd been craving this dish and was totally satisfied and more. We were too full for dessert, but next time I'd like to try their flan. We had good service. We will return.

I had to look up what a chalupa was... and basically it's a softer more bread like wrap. It was fried, so it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. The portion was large with melted cheese. Alongside was a small scoop of sour cream and one of guacamole. A mound of yellow rice and a small taco shell cup of red beans rounded out the plate. It was good, but fairly plain tasting. Adding some salt and salsa helped a bit. My husband got a combo with two different options. He wound up taking one part of his lunch home. His meal came with refried beans and yellow rice. Everything on this taco worked so well together. The pickled red onion helps cut through the richness of the guac and fattiness of the batter on the fish. The pineapple is a burst of freshness and sweetness that live a up the whole thing while also balancing sharpness from the onion. If you can here hungry, you're probably putting away 4 tacos. If you are a normal functioning human and don't eat like it's your last meal, 2-3 will probably be good. So you're looking at $14-$28 on food. For me, on an empty stomach, this would be pushing $30 for tacos which IMO is a bit steep (and let's be honest, if I'm that hungry I might make a bad decision and get more than 4). We both chose the yellow rice (Mexican style) and black beans. I didn't care for the beans as they were a bit softer than I like them. The plantains were caramelized and sweet. We both really liked our meals. We each took about half home for another dinner. The price was also very reasonable. We would definitely return.
