There was initially a bit of a mess with my insurance and them - Anthem said they were in-network,…read morethey said they were out-of-network - that took a bit to get resolved, but that was the only negative. I saw Mona Lisa Perez for a few weeks prior to my microdiscectomy surgery and for 8 weeks after I was healed enough to resume PT. She is so, so skilled in in her field. She noticed and addressed things not just related to my lower back and having just completed my time with her, I legitimately feel stronger and like I'm more in control of my muscles and body movements. She was also delightful to work with - very personable and I often found myself laughing during our sessions. Crossing my fingers that I'll never need to return to PT again, but if I do, I won't hesitate to see Mona Lisa again.

I had two appointments at Humboldt Physical Therapy. The therapist was helpful. I don't have a…read morecomplaint about her. The problem is that I paid upfront for both sessions and then my insurance company paid them as well. And they kept all the money. I complained and they responded with some BS about in-network/out-of-network, it's the insurance company's fault. No, it's simple. I paid them and then they kept my reimbursement from the insurance company. It's 7 weeks since the last appointment. It's clear I'm not getting my money back. It was just $185, so there's no legal option really. I'm just concerned that another client might not notice before they're out of a lot more money. James M. replied that they told me they were not accepting my insurance. Not true. They took all my information and said they would file the claims and see if they were accepted. James M. claimed that they cut ties with the insurance company in Sept. (I still have the email), If so, why did they file the claims in Dec. and Jan.? The insurance company did not accidentally pay James M.'s business. They filed the claims and my insurance company paid them to James M.'s business. And they didn't mention that to me.

I called to inquire about starting PT for a spinal fracture…read more The receptionist said no problem, but they are booking out 1-2 months. I said that's fine, I'm happy to wait. She then said she had some questions for me prior to booking: 1) "Is your injury due to a mobile vehicle accident and are lawyers involved?" and 2) "Is your injury due to a workplace accident?" I answered no to both questions, and she replied that they aren't actually booking new clients. Such is the state of healthcare in the US. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. So much for wellness.

Each time I have called the receptionist has been incredibly short with responses and shows no compassion for your situation. Today after she was done telling me that they wouldn't even consider scheduling him until the end of February she said, "and I'll need all of his reports from the doctors and I'll need to see your insurance card too." Which is a normal request, but the sarcastic and demeaning tone was disingenuous. I then asked how I should get her the insurance information and she snapped back with, "your doctor has it right? Have them send it too." I was so taken aback with the way she responded I decided to keep calling around. I found another place who will actually to listen to you, instead of cutting you off, and actually wants to help you. Listening is everything. In a small community word of mouth gets around. Whoever answers your calls is heartless and shameful and they're giving your business a bad reputation.
