Rachel, Blake, another guy whos name I dont know, and Josh were always nice with me. I understand a lot of the employees were fired, some were transfered to other locations, and the rest quit shortly after. This was Nov-Dec-Jan timeframe. I had two run-ins with the new older guy who seems to be running the place now. First was when we had the cold snap mid-January. He refused to buy one bag of maybe 4 or 5 pounds of aluminum cans. He said I "probably filled them with water so they would freeze and weigh more". He said the whole bag was "trash". OK. Like I am going through that trouble to scam the scrap yard out of an extra dollar or two on one bag of cans. So, I grabbed my stuff and left. That didn't sit well with me. The second and last time I went with maybe 100-150 pounds of steel and the same guy nitpicked every single thing I had. "Too much plastic on this, rubber wheels on an old bike frame, we cant take this, thats just trash, etc....". I feel that run-in was retaliatory, and he just wanted to give me a hard time for what happened with the cans. He actually told me "New management, new rules and if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else". Again, I took my stuff and left. Never went back. Literally drove 15 minutes to the other yard across town and they took it with no problems. And they pay more. So, as nice as the "old" crew was at Harmon, they have lost my business because the $50 or so a month passive income is not worth being treated like my business is a nuisance.

Always nice and helpful. I like that they are easy to get in and out and are promoting recycling.read more
