Leaving this review to warn others on what to really expect from hometown inn and suites in…read moreSchererville, Indiana. Booked a non smoking room with king bed for 2 days for july 18-20, 2019 through Travelocity. when I arrived, my room was non smoking but had a full bed only. when I told the front desk women that my reservation was for a king bed, she simply said no its only a full bed. Since it was only me staying and was late, I just accepted it. Noticed no coffee/tea maker in the room, no phone in room either. pictures online show a full size refrigerator and kitchen with sink, room had no sink/kitchen but only a small microwave and a compact refrigerator under the tv. room cleanliness was not that great. bathtub floor was dirty, shower curtain was filthy at bottom and smelled of old sour water, iron board was filthy with various stains, ceiling of room had a stain from a previous water leak on the roof of the facilty and ceiling was starting to come apart. hotel has the odor of smoke to it as they have smoking rooms and actual room had an odd odor to it. parking lot is very small but hotel is very small with only 2 floors and about 25-30 rooms. on a positive note, hotel is very quiet, workers are friendly for the times I did speak with them. overall for the price I paid, was not extremely bad but I would not stay here again. If your single or by yourself, its ok but if you come with family or a spouse, choose something else.

The hotel check-in for the Hometown Inn and Suites was in a vestibule not the main lobby. It took…read morequite a few minutes to get a staff member to show to check me in. I had booked a one night stay and later needed another night which I also reserved through Hotels.com, One Key or Expedia whatever you are calling yourself this week. I asked if I could combine the two without checking out and I was told no, I would need to cancel the second night and the hotel would then put the two nights together. Once that was done I was ultimately charged a fee like there were separate credit card transactions for 2 nights for using a credit card and not paying cash. Really who is carrying around that much cash nowadays and secondly why 2 charges when the credit card was only run once ? Although I knew that there was no breakfast buffet available, I was extremely disappointed that there was no coffee on hand either in the lobby or in room. This hotel is in bad condition, very dirty and antiquated. In the first room I was placed in the TV was not working and I need to call the front desk. They sent a man up to verify that the TV was operational and only needed new batteries in the changer. Then I needed to call the front desk again when a plumbing problem in the room was uncovered. (The toilet was not refilling itself as the cut off was turned off. However after I turned it back on it did not fill up the tank and the man they sent up verified it was a true plumbing problem and I was moved to another room.) I feel that all of these issues should have been discovered prior to me occupying that room. There was an insufficient number of towels available in the bathroom. 2 Tiny bars of soap that were so old they cracked into slivers when dropped. One wash cloth and one towel looked like rags that were used to clean dirty, oily machinery. On the second day the room was cleaned and the used towels were taken away but no clean ones were left in the room. Perhaps the cleaning person did not know that it was a two day stay. I had to track the cleaning person down to get replacement towels for the second day. In the room there was evidence of years of neglect was void of general maintenance, Behind the TV stand was what look liked years of dust and an old empty bottle, apparently the furniture is not moved on any schedule for a deep cleaning of the room. There were smears on the headboards and the walls had marks on them everywhere including spills that had never been cleaned. In 2023, USB outlets or easily accessible outlets are a must. This room provided neither. I could continue, but I think you get the idea. In looking at the reviews post trip, little has changed from similar complaints as far as 2 years prior, though owners state they are working in the problems. This property was nowhere near up to the standards that I would expect attached to the One Key branding. I have always associated the One Key, Hotels.com and Expedia name with quality and a higher standard than I experienced. I would love to say that I will seek out a a property under your umbrella for a future stay but at this point, I am not confident that the One Key name would be at the top of my list. My guess is that the franchisee of this property is tarnishing the branding brand without corporate knowledge. I would also hope there is some level of guidelines required to become a client of One Key branding.

Comfort Suites - The two queen bed room is pretty large. Ignore the messy beds, we were checking out moments later.

[Updated upon second return, just as good!]…read more We traveled back through and stayed a second time. Keep in mind that it's a road ride budget Choice hotel. It's Platinum rated in 2018 from what I saw which means it's in the top 3% of all Comfort Suites and I can see why. Here is a summary of my experience: Pros: -Inexpensive -Very clean for a budget hotel -Comfy beds -Bathroom is actually big enough to walk in and close the door without standing on the toilet. -Updated and spacious rooms (especially the king), large couch. Plenty of room for two pack-n-plays. -A really good breakfast included -Free WiFi -SUPER friendly staff, especially Theresa -Convenient location right off interstate with plenty of food options -Parking is safe, well lit and spacious. Cons: -Small outdoor pool, not heated, and no hot tub

The room was larger than expected and, most importantly, the beds weren't uncomfortable. Not that it was like sleeping on a cloud, but I wasn't sleeping on a rock either. The room was clean and the price after fees wasn't unreasonable ($134 for the night). Location is great being right off the highway. All of the staff members we interacted with were friendly. The continental breakfast was meh. Only one of the two buffet trays had food in it and the scrambled eggs were very watery. They have plain and cinnamon roll flavored waffle batter, but the cinnamon didn't have much punch to it. The apple juice had little flavor and was almost like drinking water.

My kiddo prefers to just sleep on the large sofa directly instead of the pull-out bed. Wish the pillows were better. I had a security incident on my first visit - housekeeping forgot to undo the deadbolt that they had used when cleaning the room, so when I got back to my room very late that night, the door was open. I was utterly exhausted and didn't have the energy to switch rooms. Luckily it didn't seem like anything was stolen, but I really didn't have any mental energy to spend - this was the day after a family member passed away - and I just wanted to crash into bed. I did speak with an assistant manager the next day who apologized profusely, and thankfully I haven't had any other issues since then. I really wish the breakfast was better - I miss a waffle maker. The breakfast variety isn't great, and sometimes there can be a big rush of people. One morning, there was a crowd waiting for more pancakes, and when more came out, there were only enough for a few people. It was awkward. Most mornings, I just end up with hard boiled eggs and a bagel - the hot options looked too greasy or soggy. For me, this hotel is about the location - it's very convenient for me so I put up with the meh breakfast. It's also a little less expensive than some of the nearby hotels, and I appreciate the Hyatt rewards program.

The hotel is also in a quiet area with food and shopping within 10 min. This trip we were able to utilize the pool area, which was nice and warm. The pool was a comfortable temp and wasn't freezing! The workout room also is equipped with a peloton (for us peloton users). The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to also have dinner at the restaurant downstairs and the sandwiches were delish. My husband also got wings, which were delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff gave our kiddo some coloring pages and crayons while we were waiting for our food. I forgot to take pictures of the room before we had our stay but everything was clean and comfy for us. I would 100% stay here again if we are back in the area.

It's walking distance from the beach and the main strip. We parked our car when we arrived and never touched it all weekend. The hotel also provides bikes to rent but we found that most places are walking distance and the roads/paths are not very bike friendly. Check in was super simple. Our room was very clean and updated. I wish they had smart TVs to connect to Netflix but we didn't spend much time watching TV anyways so it wasn't a big issue. The restaurant did seemed to get a bit noisy at night which drifted up to our room. The breakfast baskets were a BIG hit! The frittatas tasted so good! The fruit cups were also so fresh. I tried the prosciutto croissant on our last day which hit the spot. The quality of food was top notch - just wish we were able to order more! I had an appointment at the spa as well during our stay. The spa staff is super friendly. I used the robe and spa slippers provided in our room and spent some time in the salt water pool and hot tub before my appointment.

I'll start with the pros:…read more We loved this hotel because the rooms are pretty close to the lobby, not tons of walking. Easy to navigate with a 3 year old. The decor is very nice and the hotel has an overall just nice classy aesthetic with a beautiful actual working fireplace in the lobby. A HUGE one, they were nice enough to let us check in early. This is huge if you have children especially ones that need to nap. The hotel was super clean. Our room was spotless. The king suite offered so much space for the 3 of us. The location is pretty central to most things you'd want to visit in the area. The in-room breakfast makes it super easy in the morning to have a stress free bite to eat in the AM. All the food we enjoyed seemed a step above typical "hotel food" Another HUGE plus, it was basically empty the day we visited. We had the entire pool to ourselves. My 3 year old was in heaven. This alone was amazing, lol Ok so now the cons: The hotel is super DARK inside. It's just more geared towards adults. The room was painted black and also super dark. Just took away from the beautiful sunshine that was outside the walls of the hotel, Advertised in the room for smores roasting but was told by the front desk they stopped doing that. Advertised for Ben and Jerries Hotline which is another added cost when you are already paying so much for the hotel. Not much for families to do here. Or if there was activities or things to do, no one really explained them. All in all would stay here again being mindful of the caveats!!!!
