A traveler's stop off Highway 65, it's a quality stay for nowadays high hotel prices. It's pretty decent for two whole nights under $300 total. They have absolutely everything you need. Free breakfast downstairs and all expected commodities in the room. Plenty of parking as this place isn't busy at all. Front desk service was polite. Material-wise they are a bit on the cheaper side. Comfortable bed, a sofa chair, microwave, tv, desk, fridge, blow dryer and more. Everything has been very clean and nice. I'll add this to the list of decent places to stay for a good price!

Saturday night the guests had taken over the entire breakfast seating area with crockpots of food and delivery pizza. I wish we would've made friends and ate with them instead of next-door at the Farmhouse Restaurant. It was terrible. I wrote a different review on that. We booked a 2 queen room for our family of 3. The room was spacious and had a view of the woods and walking trail behind the hotel. There was a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. The shower had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We did have problems with our door unlocking, but it was no issue. The main reason we stayed here was for the pool. The pool is 3'6" deep with a basketball goal and water spraying into it. There is a kitty pool that was 1 foot deep and two small slides. There was also a hot tub that went indoor and outdoor Saturday night the hot tub was too hot for my son to get in but Sunday morning it was warm. Lots of kids in the hot tub. The pool is not heated. It was pretty cold. I preferred the hot tub temperature. The staff at check-in and check out were both very friendly. They do a continental breakfast with two waffle makers. My son loved making his own waffles. They also had scrambled eggs, sausage, links, ham, hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, muffins, oatmeal, and cereal. Plus a machine with orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, and water and of course there was a coffee. We enjoyed our stay! As loud as the hotel was Saturday night. I expected to be woke up by kids running down the hallway or slamming doors and I'm happy to say we all slept all night. Great destination hotel.

It is centrally located -- a mere five-minute drive from downtown Valpo. The hotel is clean. You get a free breakfast and free coffee all day. (This is important! I needed some late-night energy.) The bed was oh so comfortable. Also: The shower had a tub. This feature is not something I usually care about, because I don't usually take baths, either at hotels or in general. I don't like sitting there in a tepid pool of my own filth. But on the night that I visited this hotel, I was feeling luxurious. So, I drew a bath and luxuriated. It was nice. There's a restroom in the lobby, in case you need to use the loo after driving a long time. In the morning, there's a free breakfast with your typical free hotel breakfast items: bagels, muffins, little containers of Yoplait, dry cereal, powered eggs. The coffee is also decent! I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself in Valparaiso. This is a more than decent hotel that's super close to lots of things in Valpo.

We stayed long term. BIG MISTAKE!!! I didn't realize that they disliked having long term guests. To sum it up, the general manager, Kat Larson, took an instant dislike to us. It seems that being from Los Angeles, CA upset her. She went out of her way to make our stay as unpleasant as possible by making up false stories about us. Some of the staff members would tell us about what she was saying about us and felt bad for us. Others just listened to her vicious rumors and were VERY UNPLEASANT. It's really upsetting that we spent a lot of money at a place where we were not welcomed. This has really left a bad impression about he Hilton brand on me. I cannot in good faith ever stay at another Hampton inn again. There are other hotels in the area. I recommend staying far far far far away from this place!

Overall: We used…read morethis hotel to host our out of town wedding guests, including ourselves, and had multiple issues with the property. We occupied approximately 50-60% of the hotel's space during the wedding. The issues with the property added a lot of stress to our wedding planning and took away from our big day. The property managers were unavailable at times when we needed them and made several commitments which they did not keep. Room Block: We created a hotel block with the property's sales representative. The property committed to obligating 30 rooms to our block but only would add rooms in increments of 5. The sales representative told us that as long as we filled the previous rooms added they would have rooms available. However, every time we contacted to add rooms to our block, the sales representative would have a different issue which we had to work through of why we would possibly not be able to add the rooms they committed for us. We fortunately were able to add the total rooms after having to speak with the General Manager. We also had well over 20 additional guests have to book outside of the hotel block. Room Issues: Many of our out of town guests were contacted by the hotel about room issues the day before their stay. Several guests had called the hotel and reserved specific rooms for different reasons, only to not be able to stay in those rooms for a variety of different issues. Several rooms the A/C did not work in. Several rooms not all the outlets worked. The hotel was not able to accommodate the services which they committed to. Several guests requested technicians be sent to correct the problem, but, did not want to leave their valuables unattended. The the hotel was unable to arrange a time where the guests were in their room for the technicians to come. Customer Service: The hotel management offered several members of our party use of their facilities meeting rooms and patio areas, as well as refunds on the rooms as compensation for the inconvenience. We confirmed the use of these facilities with several different managers. However, when the time came for us to use these facilities the hotel would not allow us to use the agreed upon spaces. The hotel's managers were unable to be contacted and did not leave the single hotel employee on shift with the details about the arrangements which were set up due do the inconvenience. We had to change our entire plan, which was coordinated ahead of time and caused great inconvenience and put a blemish on our wedding night. Billing: The hotel also offered to refund room charges due to the changes in reservations. We have several charges on our credit cards which the hotel did not provide us receipts for. We are unsure if these charges are the rooms which are not refunded or a different charge. We have been unable to secure a receipt for the charges from the hotel. Highlight: Despite the poor customer service from the management staff, we would like to highlight the tremendous customer service from the chef, Cynthia. Cynthia was a pleasure to work with and had a great attitude. She went out of her way to make sure the hotel had the correct amount of food and that our guests were fed. Thank you Cynthia for being the sole light in what was an otherwise stressful and unenjoyable experience.

This inn has key-less doors, so make sure you memorize your codes for both the front door and your room. The front door needs to be locked manually, and your room door stay locked, so burn those numbers into memory or on the mobile phone you have with you. I stayed at the Porter Queen room - nice wood floors, has an A/C unit & heat for supplemental cooling/heating, bed is nice and comfortable without bugs or it being too hard or soft, mini-kitchen was nice for warming up leftovers or what nots, bathroom was basic and did the job nicely - no shampoo or conditioner, but a bar of soap is provided. Towels were provided in decent abundance. Room is nice, albeit a bit spartan. Note that I did the reservation via online, but had to talk to the owner/administrator. I forgot her name, but she was pleasant, and got it paid via credit card over the phone without issue. No one is staffed at the house, and is all dealt with "remotely" - but this works well as I arrived to the house clean, the email instructions very clear, and the room ready. Nearest restaurant or stores are about 5 minutes away if you want food, sundries, etc. I brought leftovers from lunch and that did me fine for the rest of the night. No free breakfast or what nots, unless if you arranged to purchase a snacking "package" with your reservation. Parking for 4-5 vehicles are available in front of the house, cannot comment on the lot a block away. Definitely a good place for some piece of quiet, isolation, or a 2-4 days stay for a couple. No one was apparently there during my stay, so cannot comment if the walls are too thin or if house rules are respected or not. Mobile signals are decent for Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile, so no problems with your calls or mobile web browsing. Anyone using the antiquated WiMaxx (Clear & Sprint) will NOT have coverage. Onsite Wifi is available and free, though I could not connect to it for whatever reason. Will come back again! (and sorry for the tl;dr)

I was a little reluctant to stay at a historic mansion, thinking that "historic" might actually mean "run down." That was not the case here at all. The interior is classic, yet modern. We stayed in the Queen Porter Room and it was lovely, quaint and well designed. Our bed was comfortable, and clean. We loved the kitchenette, equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and sink. I love that the proprietors send you a code for the front door and the room door ahead of your stay so you don't have to bother with checking in at a front desk. It really made us feel like we were guests at a country home rather than just customers checking into a hotel. The only downsides: paper thin walls and spotty wireless. We could only get reception in the lounge area on the second floor, but we weren't spending a lot of time online anyway. On our second night there were quite a lot of children running around and screaming. So while it's perfect for a romantic getaway, keep in mind that a lot of families are renting rooms in the summer. Other than that, we loved it! We definitely plan on staying here if we visit again.

They would NOT give me the wedding block price as the block had "sold out". I have never heard of this happening before. So I paid the $212 a night as all the other same level hotels were around the same price. I checked with the front desk on Saturday morning at 9:30am to make sure that we had the room turned over (clean sheets, towels, etc) and when I came back to the room at 3:30 in the afternoon, the room was not clean. I stopped at the desk to ask why and was told that 4 housekeepers had called off AFTER I'd talked to them. They told their housekeeping staff to only clean the rooms that people checked out of and then to go home. Only offered me 1k points, which doesn't do much for me as I don't travel often, so at that point, I asked for manager's email. Emailed the manager Melissa who promptly offered me the same points and no monetary compensation. I called IHG directly who essentially said they couldn't do anything since locations are franchised and they don't process payments. I emailed Melissa back again and pushed for compensation, but my email was ignored. This is not how you run a business or get people to return. For almost $500 for 2 nights w tax, I expect better.
