Horrible experience here…read more.. Staying with my partner and 2 kids. Stayed here for the last night of our mini vacation. We reserved the outdoor adventure room for 1 night (large bed for us, a loft bunk bed with couch pull out bed for the kids.). We had called twice to confirm reservation and were reassured reservation was confirmed and told no confirmation number would be needed both times. We arrive and they take us to a room and it's a king jacuzzi suite...1 king bed and nothing for the kids...we go back to front desk and are given new keys to the room we had reserved and go to the adventure room. We get to the adventure room and it hasn't been cleaned at all... dirty sheets, unmade beds, dirty towels all over bathroom, trash cans full and trash on tables. We go back to front desk. Again she apologizes and tells us there are no other clean rooms and no one there to clean any...so we HAVE to use the king suite and she gives us a cot for 1 of the kids (the younger slept with us in the king bed). She did at least comp the room. We go back to the king suite and find a toilet seat that is very old to the point that it's peeling off the upper layers and just looks overall unappealing. There is also a massive turd floating in the toilet. Again we go to the front desk and again apologies and the promise that management will hear how poorly housekeeping has been performing. During the night our toilet overflows and soaks the items that were in the bathroom. When we get up and let the gentleman working front desk know the newest update, we get the usual... I will say that both people we spoke with were very nice and did the best you could really expect considering the circumstances/issues. The kids enjoyed the pool area as well but there was very limited seating around the pool with more than 1 family being there at once. It was also a bit concerning that there was a broken window around the pool area that was taped Extremely disappointing end to our vacation. Would not recommend to anyone. We will never be back.

Each room has a closet, fireplace, tv, dvd player, and bathroom. All doors lock with your room key for privacy and security. Every morning there is breakfast prepared; muffins and cinnamon rolls, english muffins, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, etc. It has a full kitchen. The lodge is off the river and only blocks from downtown. It allows everything (or a lot at least) to be within walking distance. I highly recommend this place for a place to stay. Much better than a hotel with a great amount of character. When you set up reservations make sure to ask about payment. It was cash only so clarify upon reservation.

I requested 2 person kayaks since my kids had never kayaked and my daughter was scared. They told me this would not be a problem. We got to the outfitter 15 minutes prior to our scheduled time. I confirmed 2 person kayaks were necessary. Paige said that she loaded the one person kayaks and since they were already in the trailer - she wasn't going to take them off. I asked several times and she refused. She told me the kids would be fine. It was the worst experience ever. My kids were frustrated and hate kayaking to this day. I have heard from others that she does not have patience for kids so be aware if you are thinking of using this outfitter for anyone under 18. Also, This summer I booked with River Guide Kayaks. Totally different experience.

BED BUGS & VERY Poor Management Response…read more My husband, our 2-year-old daughter, and I stayed here for a wedding from 9/19-9/21. My sister and her boyfriend stayed in the room across the hall. I'm sharing our direct experience so others can make an informed decision. The first night was uneventful, though our room had a strange smell and didn't feel very clean. We stayed because of the wedding. The night after we checked out, I found multiple bites all over my daughter's back. They became swollen and painful enough that she needed steroids. Around the same time, my sister--who was still in her room--found a live bug. She physically brought it to the front desk, and staff saw it and acknowledged it was a bug. I later noticed I also had several bites on my chest. We immediately began trying to reach the manager, Sanjay. For weeks, neither my sister nor I could get a call back. Staff repeatedly told us he was out of town. I finally reached him well over two weeks later. When we finally spoke, I felt he was dismissive and unprofessional, even when discussing our toddler's medical treatment. He refused a full refund--in fact, we never received any refund at all--despite the situation and the expenses we paid afterward (medical, hot-drying/ruining clothes, and hiring a detection dog to check our home and car). He also asked for my daughter's medical records, which I was not comfortable providing due to privacy. My husband later called, and that conversation also became extremely defensive. The manager claimed the bug my sister brought to the front desk was "a wood chip," even though she had watched it moving and the staff had already seen it and agreed with it being a bed bug. He repeatedly referred to my husband as "your lawyer husband," which came across as rude and unprofessional. I was also told that the health department had been contacted. When I called them myself, I was told they were not and haven't been notified at that time (this was nearly a MONTH later). They eventually checked only the rooms we stayed in--and that was about a month after our stay. When I spoke to Tammy the employee at the desk 3 days later, they had no record of any issue and the room was still open... which is highly concerning. At that point, we refused further direct communication with the manager and worked only through corporate. Even corporate staff expressed they were surprised that a refund hadn't been offered. Instead, we were eventually told we were placed on a "do not stay" list. Honestly, that's fine--after this experience, I would never return. This situation cost our family close to $1,000, not including the stress and worry over our toddler's reaction to the bites. And we never received any refund of any kind. I waited to write this until I had cooled down so I could be clear and factual. I can only speak to our firsthand experience, but based on that experience, I personally would not stay here again and strongly encourage others to use caution. I see another recent review also stated bed bugs were found (and that was not from my sister or her boyfriend), so we are not the only ones experiencing this. Please use caution when staying.

My room was very clean, the main area was impeccable and the pool area was very nice. I was very impressed with everything. The staff - from the front desk to the maids - were friendly and helpful. I had 5 kids with me so if you were going to get crabby with a guest - it should've been me. One kid spilled an entire glass of apple juice everywhere ... then knocked ALL the utensils on the floor at breakfast (like 100 spoons, etc). The girl working the front desk was also manning the breakfast area, and she just pleasantly helped me clean it up with no issue. I will definitely stay in this location again.

When we arrived it was later in the evening around 10:30. Came in with a large group of kids and was told the pool was open until midnight. We suited up and hopped in the pool (heated). It was a little after 11 and we were the only ones in the pool. An employee came in and told us that the pool was closed to kids at 11 and if anyone came in to pack up and leave right away. The reason this was an issue was we were already told we could swim and the employee had an extremely rude attitude. If we had known that kids could not swim after 11 we wouldn't have even bothered using the pool facilities.

Unbelievable! This place is well worth the price. The private bathrooms are spectacular. Between the eucalyptus steam shower with a myriad of water features and the jacuzzi type soaking tub, we could barely tear ourselves away from our personal spa time to go to dinner. We love the fact they have no tv's in the rooms but an awesome speaker/disc system for music of your choice and a refrigerator full of drinks. They had snacks available upon our check in and I would highly recommend the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for an additional $5 - YUM! The best part of our moring was the delicious breakfast served right to your room. OH My! We loved our breakfast (see picture) and the homemade scones were SO good. We came here to celebrate our 29th Anniversary in February and we weill be back for a summer visit and of course, many more anniversaries. This place made our anniversary special. THEY SERVE ICE CREAM with breakfast!…read more Well, we've only stayed in five or six bed and breakfasts (mostly in Maine or New Hampshire) but this is (without a doubt) our favorite. The Mansion is beautiful, a real mix of old and new.. so you get history.. but still really nice bathrooms and big bedrooms It's about three blocks further than the other highly rated one in town and well worth the extra travel. We were greeted by our gracious hosts, Tom and Sandy. We made it just in time for the afternoon snack.. you know.. wine, cheese etc... with time to enjoy the large veranda. In fact, we were there for three nights and made extensive use of the veranda.. at breakfast, in the afternoon and in the evening. Tom and Sandy are good about seating you with people that are a good match.. or if you prefer.. alone.. there is plenty of space. You can even have food delivered to your room. We played croquet on the grounds (yes, they have ample parking, gorgeous landscaping, a fountain and a place to play croquet) it was fun, but when my wife kept beating me I decided it was time to try something else. (I grew up in the city, what do I know about croquet?) Back to the breakfast thing.. one day the whole area suffered a power outage so they fired up the grill and cooked us our breakfast. No big deal, it was excellent. We stayed in the Joseph room, but were able to view all except one and they were all very nice. We had a King sized bed (super comfortable) and an oversized bathroom.. a big tub with jets and a shower that I needed the instructions (laminated) to use.. so many sprayers. As we spoke with the other guests.. we were all in agreement that this is a really remarkable Bed and Breakfast. Tom and Sandy's labor of love really shines. A great value.
