Really solid hotel option for road trippers just passing through Albuquerque, which it seemed most of the guests were! Rooms were clean, breakfast was much more extensive than I expected (waffles, eggs, Greek yogurt, sausage, biscuits, even gravy!), and the woman working the desk in the morning as well as handling breakfast was a hardworking powerhouse! Location is decent; there were some questionable people hanging in and around the parking lot but they kept to themselves for the most part. read more

Very surprised at how nice this location was, great room. Very clean and front desk was superior in checking in, and making me feel welcome and wanted. So, so breakfast but it was inclucded in the price and saved me from having to go out. So wonderful for what I 'paid'. Rare that I pay for a room and this met my expectaions and more. read more

If you are traveling with children, DO NOT stay at this motel. Rooms are unsafe, windows do not lock, and the prostitution in the parking lot. The front desk attendant tried to touch my children multiple times. My two year old found drugs behind the bed in our room. When we reported this to the front desk, they charged us 350$. A literal trap and physically unsafe. Stay away and stay safe. read more

We had an ant infestation, and management's solution didn't work. We had to buy our own RAID to deal with it. The breakfast was below average, and there are smoking areas throughout the property, so you constantly see and smell smoke. The indoor pool gives the whole place a damp, mildewy odor. I've stayed in other budget motels, and this one falls at the bottom of my list. read more

Found on Yelp so we decided to try rates were great and pet friendly. Walking distance to many local attractions. Nice staff hot breakfast waffle, banana, yogurt hard boiled eggs, and pastries. They are working on the lobby so a nice lady served breakfast. Rooms are comfy. Microwave and small refrigerator in rooms. Some street noise but easy access to parked car. read more

1/5 This hotel was extremely disappointing for the price. The room was dirty, and the walls are paper thin -- I could hear every sound from my neighbors, even them using the microwave and blowing their nose. The TV only worked part of the time, and the thermostat wouldn't let me adjust the temperature in the room. I don't think the bed sheets were even changed because they were all wrinkled. The whole place was noisy, smelly, and definitely not worth the cost. I would not recommend staying here. read more

Don't believe the REVIEWS! (Except mine). Guys, the pictures are NOT what they are in person! It looks like they took those pics 20yrs ago when it probably first opened. As soon as we Pulled into the parking lot, there was already two guys sitting on the curb outside just watching people come in. When we went towards a little bit towards the back side, there was a whole family sitting out there smoking. Like if they live there. Then we did a turnaround and went back towards the front where the office is. And we tried getting the front desk clerk's attention and nobody came out for a few minutes. The inside lobby looks so old, tiny, run down. The pool didn't look that great. It almost looked like a laundromat place. We got our room key, and as we parked people came out of their rooms and we're just looking down at us. We were traveling from Texas all the way to Las Vegas and back doing multiple activities. So we had a lot of luggage with us because we were on the road for 9 days. I was really nervous to leave our stuff in the car while we checked our room. We went upstairs and it looked like a rundown motel The people actually live there. We walked into our room and it smelled musky and ugly. We stood there for about 5 minutes contemplating what to do because we would lose our money if we canceled. But I think if we would have stayed there we would have lost out on more money. We'd have to bring all our luggage up the stairs because they had no elevator, and people would have saw we had a lot of luggage. I would not have felt safely leaving it there while we went to get dinner or do anything other than stay in the room. We went to the lobby and told the desk clerk that we did not want to stay there after all. He looks shocked, which is very weird. I did tell him that the room was not what we wanted, or expected. That it smelled. He said he'll give us another room... But I told him I didn't feel comfortable being there. We have a lot of luggage and people were already looking at us. So we lost out on some money unfortunately. Don't believe the pictures. I wish I would have taken pictures but honestly we were there for maybe 5 minutes and left. And also while we were leaving, the guys at the front where they were sitting on the curb, just was watching us the whole time. read more

Clean, friendly service. The rooms were clean and ample. The breakfast was excellent with many options.

This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. I got 2 rooms and they both were so gross. I have pictures to show what I mean. The floors were sticky, the sheets were dirty, there was black mold in the shower, shower head falling off the wall, smelled like cigarettes and dog pee and the exterior was also very gross. The pool was dirty with weird black stains all over the inside of it. We didn't go in there. The lobby was ripped up and smelled like old food. My car broke down so we couldn't leave till the morning but honestly it would have been better to sleep in my car. read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! The lovely pictures they show of this place are a complete fabrication! The pictures shown on Priceline NOT even if this hotel. The hotel smells dirty and musty. The rooms are dingy and dirty, the furniture is old and worn out and there appears to have been a pest problem. The website also claims that this hotel has a restaurant which is does not! We decided to leave so I took screenshots of the pictures they showed on Priceline and walked around taking pictures of what the hotel actually looks like. When I entered the lobby to take pictures of the disastrous construction zone, the hotel manager, Elena assaulted me, pushed me out of the way and try to knock the phone out of my hand! I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but I SHOULD have called the police and filed assault charges against this woman! read more

The air conditioner in our first assigned room didn't work. When my husband requested a different room the attendant told him, "most people don't complain". Our second room smelled like stale smoke. The walls were dirty, the bedspreads had burn holes in them, the refrigerator was dirty and had duck tape on it for some reason, one of the towels was dirty, and it was like being in horror movie with all the flies landing on us and our bed. We packed it up and left getting a clean and comfortable room at Quality Inn for $20.00 more and it was well worth it. read more

I am not someone to complain about a motel room, but this place was disgusting. Stains all over the sheets, weird puddle spots on the floor, musty AC, and cleaning smell so strong it started to give me a headache. There were other gross items that I could overlook, like stained chairs or a caved in king mattress, but you at LEAST have to provide sheets that aren't covered in tons of stains. I wouldn't recommend this nasty motel to my worst enemy. Go to a motel 6 instead! The only reason we stayed was because we got this through the Hotwire hot rate, which I'm now avoiding in the future because of this monstrosity. read more

When I made the reservation, when I visited the website, when I got my confirmation, nothing was mentioned that the hotel was going through renovations and that the pool, and hot tub were closed. And that the breakfast area was closed to guests. While the room looked like it was recently painted, it was awful, dirty, and had many issues. Some of them are listed below. There were long black hairs on the floor. I am bald, my wife has short gray hair. There were not our hairs. There were dead bugs in the corners of the room. There were dirty footprints on the sleeper sofa cushions and the sofa was so worn and saggy that it was hard to sit on it. The desk chair seat was dirty, and had holes in it. Also no desk lamp. There was this weird deep drain in bathroom right by the toilet with ants coming out. The floor lamp by the sofa work broken. I paid extra to upgrade to the suite with a whirlpool tub. The 3 jets in the tub that I could see had mold/mildew in them. We certainly did not want to sit in the bath water and have them spraying at us. The shower head was covered with rust and slime. Did not want that spraying on us either, but every couple days you need to shower. My credit card was charged a different amount than my booking confirmation and my email confirmation. WHATS UP WITH THAT? Only a few dollars, but this is so wrong. I may have to file a dispute with MasterCard. I am very surprised that Choice Hotels lets their name be associated with this property. It was beyond awful. read more

Staying here was a real bummer. The room smelled awful even though it was advertised as a non-smoking room. The thermostat for the AC was broken, so adjusting the temperature was not an option. The "refrigerator" froze our water even though it was on the lowest setting. The TV was smaller than a picture frame, it was not a smart TV (it's 2022. How is this not a standard feature?) and it was mounted so lazily on the wall at a 45 degree angle. When I checked in, I noticed that the overnight employee had the wrong person's info pulled up on the screen even though he had my ID right in front of him. It was a person with the same first name and completely different last name. I brought this to his attention and he responded with "Oh, it's probably because you booked through a third party (Priceline) and they entered your info wrong." I showed him my Priceline confirmation with my name spelled correctly and he continued to try to put the blame on them. He never admitted that he simply looked up the wrong person in the system. I kept asking for some reassurance that I would be getting the right room and that we weren't double-booked. He was no help at all. Avoid this place. read more

The best place in town...excellent breakfast, good value clean comfortable rooms ! Staff is excellent. Safe and comfortable. swimming pool.

Definitely doing the bare minimum to stay operational. For 120$ a night my expectations are for no ants and a TV that works consistently.

Do not stay here I promise you you'll regret it. I booked through Hotwire, I arrived late with my wife and had to use the restroom so I gave the clerk my ID and card and used the restroom I come back to have two hundred dollars charges to my account. on our cross country road trip this is 2nd on the list of worst hotels- only surpassed by our reno hotel stay that sucked. this room was not up to par- shower bar is half way falling off, water spigot in sink sprays everywhere, stains on the floor, uncomfortable beds and lumpy pillows. the fridge was not plugged in and chilled and had a smell from sitting there unplugged. took hours to cool down and stop smelling for us to put our food in it. the pool needs major redoing- the hot tub water was cloudy with things floating in it. yuck and most importantly we were put- as a mother and young child- in a room right across from the VERY LOUD ice machine. people getting ice at 11pm, 5am- very disruptive of sleep. but the bed was not comfy so already was having bad sleep. would not stay here again on the positive side the front desk lady was nice and she called ahead of time to confirm our arrival- no other hotel has done that. so she has been great- but the stay here not so great read more

This is a modest but clean, decent and modern hotel a short distance from Albuquerque's historic center area. Besides offering great value for travelers, we wanted to commend the manager Kathleen. She was pleasant and efficient, and gave us excellent advice on dinner options. Later that night we were unable to operate the remote control for the video screen. First, Kathleen offered us a new clicker. When that didn't work, she offered to come up to our room and troubleshoot the system. She diagnosed that the remote had to be reset so it synchronized with the room's screen and fixed the issue. "I read the instruction manual," she explained modestly. I don't understand the negative reviews this place received. This place was fine. read more

Professional motel stayer here -- and I really enjoyed my stay, the room was lovely. I have a modern in-room thermostat that worked good and the bed was comfortable. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful, I stopped in asking questions or picked up more coffee packets, and they were very responsive. Breakfast was awesome, and fun to gather with the other guests in the morning for a waffle and juice. I loved the bananas and muffins, which I grabbed every day. The guests here were friendly, I saw a mix of people coming and going, and I never felt unsafe here as a solo female traveler. The view of the mountains is gorgeous. Right now they are in the process of building a lobby pub, which I think is really super cool!! I want to come back and visit when it's done (next month!) I don't drink but I told them I'll drink a good ristretto almondmilk capp in their pub, or a basic coffee :). My only feedback is check the batteries in the thermostat, they're starting to go. Great location, I zipped across Albuquerque, easy spot to come back to. Def Recommend. read more

First, I love hardwood floors in a motel! No carpeting! True, the outdoor areas were run down. I thought the inside of the room was perfectly adequate and pleasant considering the price! Second, room was extremely clean, and consider the ridiculously low price! Outside, it's a bit dusty and there were some fallen leaves, etc. But who cares, inside the room is what matters. Third, night desk person was very nice and told me I had to hurry to eat in old town because it closes early, at 9 pm (important for a New Yorker to know this)! Fourth, old town is like a 3 minute walk away, so you get the benefits without the high price! Fifth, ample parking though we arrived late (you know how some motels run out of spots?). Sixth: extreme kindness. I left a bag in the room by accident. The hotel shipped it to me in NYC for a nominal fee. They answered my emails and calls. What great service! I am definitely staying here again when I am in ABQ. You can't get more for this price! read more

Great people working at this hotel. Good service, very clean room. Recoment this hotel.

Do NOT stay here! This is literally the most ghetto hotel I've stayed at. If I could give it 0 stars I would because this place doesn't deserve any stars!! Here are the issues: -So at first glance the room looked old and it smelled musty. - NO elevators and we were placed on the 2nd floor so we had to make multiple trips to unload our luggage. - Parking lot gets crowded. You might have to park somewhere else due to limited spots. -The bed frame was so dirty with hair and dirt. -After a long day of traveling I was excited to relax and watch tv and assumed the tv would have cable but it only had 40 lame channels. ***The last straw was upon check out when the maid came to inspect the room. You would think that after every guest they do laundry but apparently NOT. So there was a dirty hand towel we used to wipe off dirt off our shoes that would literally come off when you wash it. But the maid said "now we have to wash it". Like wtf? Don't you have to wash everything anyways after every guest?! Unbelievable. So therefore we were charged $15 for a little hand towel!! Save your money and don't come here!! You WILL BE CHARGED FOR RANDOM BS!!!*** read more

After reading the other reviews it made it very clear to me that l was out of my element staying in this "motel". I travel a lot & always look for comfort & value! I have stayed @ pretty decent hotels that offer both without fanciness! But this place was unbelievable! My room was extremely cold. I couldn't sleep! While they provide instructions on how to work the thermostat it doesn't work! Guess why! It's controlled from the office! Now l was surprised that they offer a generous breakfast! I give them the 2 stars for that! If you're a couple & you don't care where you rest your heads hey that's on you! But if you're a solo female traveler l don't think so! read more

I'm giving this a star ONLY because the guy at the front desk at 1am (when we checked in) and lady that answered the phone at 3pm were nice and accommodating. There were a couple of sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot at 1am. At first glance the room appeared clean. First time I ever felt the need to put toilet paper on the toilet seat to use it. The sink faucet was missing the centerpiece and was filled with brown, wet, cruddy stuff. The shower curtain was mildewed. Alrhough the bed was clean, the king mattress sunk in on both sides and I could feel the springs underneath when I layed down. read more

Do not pre-book at this hotel and ask to see your room first!! Very thin walls and can definitely hear your neighbors next door! We pre-paid online for a king size suite and after check in around 10pm, our neighboring room had 6 very loud teenagers partying (it looked like they were occupying 2 rooms but decided to hang out next to our room). We asked the hotel clerk to be moved to another room that wasn't directly next to this rambunctious group (we didn't care that they were loud, we just didn't want to share a wall with that room). The hotel clerk said yes she would change us to a different room with 2 queen beds upstairs and we said great, that's perfect... then after waiting a few minutes for her to check other room availability, she said she wasn't authorized to switch our room at all!!! Instead, she decided the best way to resolve the issue was to call the adjacent room to tell them to be quiet (we told her that calling wasn't necessary and that it would only escalate the issue....we just wanted a different room). At this point, we didn't feel comfortable staying next to the loud group, especially after they watched us unload our car directly into the room next to them and clearly knew we were unhappy with their noise level. We're still working on getting a full refund for a room that we never stayed in (we did receive partial refund but are still out $100). We just wanted a good nights sleep and to save a few bucks by booking here but instead wasted an hour of our time and had to find another place last minute, actually losing money :/ We ended up booking at Nativo Lodge... only $50 more per night with excellent rooms, very safe and VERY quite. Save your time, and book somewhere else with sound proof walls and avoid a huge hassle! read more

Stayed here one night on our way out of town. I was bitten by something in the middle of the night. I reported it to management, asked if they wanted to take pictures ("sure?" Was the reply). I Told them it might be bed bugs so to please take it seriously. The front desk seemed indifferent at best. They sent someone up to check the bed, but when they didn't find anything that was the end of it. They told me it was probably a mosquito. I asked them to please send me a document or communication showing that I reported it. They said I would be receiving something from management. The sheets were really stained. We asked for another room and the second room sheets were also stained. The bathrooms were a little dirty.

Super disappointed with the lack of compassion this company has and the outright greed. I had a reservation as a stop off on the way to California from Arkansas (Albuquerque is the halfway point on a 24-hour drive). Unfortunately, my van had other plans and overheated, leaving myself and my two small children stranded in Amarillo. I contacted Choice Hotels directly and dealt with a kind and warm representative who attempted to switch my reservation from Albuquerque to Amarillo, keeping within the Choice family brand. We we're about done with the reservation when he reached out to Econo Lodge in Old Town and was met with a rude reply that this particular hotel had "it's own policies" over and above that of Choice Hotels. (What the actual heck?) They further asserted that my ability to cancel my reservation had expired. I tried to then call them directly hoping to speak to a manager and appeal to their better nature and hopefully sense of compassion. The lady who answered the phone began pleasently, but things went south quickly when I inquired after a manager. He was "unavailable" and I could leave a message. I then attempted to convey to her our desperate situation - we needed the funds released from their hotel so that I could get a room within the same brand here in Amarillo so that we could try and figure out how to get back home the next day. She had no care at all and said that she could be "nice" and push our reservation back as far as 6 months but that we would be charged still. When I informed her that this was, in fact, not really a kindness and that I needed those funds for tonight she rudely replied that they were under no obligation to do anything at all. So basically, they just will keep my money and oh well. It didn't matter that Choice Hotels wanted to do the right thing, they had their own greedy agenda in place. Who cares that they left a mom and two babies stranded on the side of the road. Souless, compassionless and apathetic. Please do yourself a favor and do not reserve or book with these greedy leeches. read more

We stayed here on March 27th. The WiFi worked only intermittently the afternoon, evening and the following morning. We called the front desk and were told they would reset the router. When that didn't help, a gentleman at from the office said he would come to the room to try and fix the problem. After waiting nearly two hours, the person had not come to the room. We called and told them to forget it. The toilet in our room ran unless we "jiggled" the handle and the hardwood floor was dirty and needed to be swept and mopped. Will we stay here again? Probably. Econo Lodge Old Town - 80 degrees in my room at 10 pm. How is that okay?! - Hotels Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

I was recently moving from Orange County, CA to Oklahoma and decided to stop in Albuquerque for a couple of nights because I have friends there and I love Old Town. After reading some reviews, I settled on this hotel, primarily because of its location, price and its "dog friendly" marker. After many hours in the car with my elderly chihuahua, I get to the hotel and begin the check-in. I tell the staff member I have my dog, she is ESA registered and I have the paperwork. The employee says, "OK, sure, but we cannot put you in the room you booked then-- the king suite. I'll have to put you in a double queen." I asked why, and she said, "the king suite has a leather couch." I told her I wouldn't be putting my dog on the leather couch, and my dog is elderly and wouldn't be causing a mess. She said it was their policy no matter what... I relented. However, I asked for a decrease in my price. I had already paid for my two-night stay and I had paid for a king suite-- not a queen double. She would not do this, claiming this was not possible for some reason I cannot remember. I was tired and I wanted the room, primarily so my dog could rest and eat. I usually do not leave bad reviews-- ever. However, this interaction set the tone for the rest of my stay. The heat and air in the room was difficult to operate; it is not like a standard hotel AC unit. There is not a continuous fan option for ambient sound. The walls were quite thin, I could hear the neighbors speaking and their phones ringing. The pipes and plumping were very loud within the walls. The room was decently clean, but the towels smelled like musty smoke-- like they had been in a smoking hotel room. The toilet lid was almost falling off the toilet seat and the shower head could've used an upgrade. This isn't bad choice for a last minute choice, but I would recommend further research if you're staying in Albuquerque for a longer period. read more
