Two queen-size beds. Soft pillows. I sleep sitting up, so I couldn't quite get the position I needed, but the average Joe should be happy.

I just spent two nights in the Econo Lodge. I don't understand some of the horror stories on here. I had Room 119, with two queen beds. After a Civil Air Patrol discount, my rate was $71.10 per night plus all taxes. The room came with a coffee maker and some coffee packets, a TV and remote (my remote batteries were dead, so I can't tell you about picture or sound quality), and a refrigerator. You also get a tiny but full bathroom with two bars of soap, and one little canister each of shampoo and moisturizer (some very watery moisturizer). You start out also with a bath mat, and I think six towels and two washcloths. You also get free Wi-Fi, but it's slow and keeps kicking you off. The shower was hot and strong. I think most people would find the beds comfortable (I sleep sitting up so I couldn't get comfortable). Do note that the toilet is definitely kiddie-size. If your neighbors are loud enough, you'll hear every burp, fart, rant, name, swear word, and moan. The parking lot was freshly paved so you shouldn't need to worry about tripping, but it can be slippery when wet (duh). Some ceiling tiles had water damage, and the fan and especially the fridge were very, very loud. There is a continental breakfast; just bread and toasted waffles basically. The concierges at the front desk aren't overly friendly. Overall, the experience was average. The poor sound insulation in the rooms, loud fridge, and poor attitudes at the Econo Lodge definitely take a five-star resort (ok, five stars considering the price point) and make it a three-, but if I'm in the area again, I'd consider staying a second time.

My refuge for the night. It was more than adequate.

Great hotel to stay in for game weekends. The place was clean and had newly renovated rooms. Also had a very friendly and helpful staff.

So when a family member approached me and asked me if I wanted to stay at this inn, I was surprised; but, after learning more, I excitedly said yes. This was the right decision and led to a fantastic and relaxing weekend away from the city. This nature inn sits in Bald Eagle State Park and has 16 guest rooms, a handful of meeting room/library spaces, and is absolutely beautiful. The rooms on one side of the inn overlook a lake, with the other side facing a cluster of trees. My relative and I ended up facing the trees, but we were totally fine with that - especially since the fall foliage was starting to set in. We were on the 2nd floor, so we were able to enjoy the view from a private balcony throughout the weekend; it looked like the 1st floor rooms had little patios instead, so no matter what, guest rooms have some sort of outdoor seating. Normally, guests would all be able to enjoy a communal patio and fire pit here. Granted, some other guests (as it appeared that a large group came here together) did go ahead and enjoy this space. My relative and I did not because avoiding people is a must these days, but still, what we saw of these spaces looked great. Definitely something to remember for the future. Speaking of avoiding people - it's 2020, so naturally, my relative and I were focused on what the inn is doing to protect guests. The answer is, plenty! Cleaning and sanitizing the inn is a big thing, naturally. The small size of the inn definitely helps, as it's not particularly big and doesn't lend itself to the gathering of huge crowds. Masks are a must and for the most part, this rule was adhered to; I passed by a couple of guests that I think just forgot theirs momentarily, but staff definitely took the rule seriously. Their dining room is currently closed - all meals are prepped and offered as take-out or delivery. Fortunately, the rooms include a fridge, so it was super easy for my relative and me to bring snacks and store our leftovers so that we were stocked and well-fed all weekend. Also, while you can request items that you need for your room, daily turn-down service is not happening right now - that way, only guests are in their rooms during their stay. The result was that I felt extremely relaxed while I was in the inn, knowing that my space and health was being respected and taken seriously. A couple of notes - the mattresses here were admittedly very hard and uncomfortable, and while they didn't ruin our stay, it's still nice to have my comfy soft bed back. I don't really hold this against the inn though since, frankly, I think all hotel beds are uncomfortable by default. Speaking of things I don't hold against them - this is a nature inn, so you better expect some of the local wildlife to try to get into your room. When I first opened my balcony door some stinkbugs fell onto me because they had gathered around the door frame - whoops! The good news is that the door itself was very well sealed, so the little jerks couldn't get in when the door was closed. Again, I don't hold that against the inn at all, seeing as it's set right in a state park. Still, I think it's fair to remind other guests and readers that when you visit a nature park, you better be ready to experience everything nature throws at you. If any of this sounded like something you would enjoy, I encourage you to visit the inn's website to learn more about staying here; there is a lot of information there about a range of other topics, such as how the entire facility is designed to be ecologically sound, what to expect when you visit during different seasons, and what sorts of outdoor fun awaits you in the surrounding nature park. I definitely recommend this beautiful inn as a getaway option - now and in the future; and I hope to be back one day to enjoy more of the surrounding area!

CONS- This is why I have 1 star! *NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER AND NO WATER PRESSURE!!! The water got barely warm. I showered first and thought maybe there would at least be hot water when my husband showered, however that didn't happen. The pressure was so low we had to stand with our bodies nearly touching the shower faucet handle to even be in the water. We were colder when we got out of the shower than when we got in. After a 7 hr drive in some bad weather conditions we were looking forward to a nice hot shower, that didn't happen. We did call the front desk to report the issue we were offered a different room however it was late in the evening, we were tired & already settled into this room so we did not switch rooms. * The bed was too hard for our liking. Hampton Inn's used to all have pillow top beds. That is not the case in this hotel. *We paid almost $160.00 for the night, we expected better! A hot shower with decent water pressure would have been nice. We would NOT stay here again, due to the above issue. If you choose to stay here, check your shower before settling into your room.

I didn't have time to fool around booking seven rooms online. I called the front desk, talked to an incredibly helpful person, and snagged the rooms in one short call. The quality of the hotel then greatly exceeded my expectations. Even at five Yelp stars, it's underrated. The place is tremendous value for the money. The rooms were sparkling clean. The amenities shined just as brightly. The breakfast was solid (wouldn't mind seeing bacon next time!) and saved time and money by not having to go out for breakfast. What really made the Fairfield Inn stand out, though, was the friendliness of every single staff member me and my team encountered. They put the service back in customer service. That place is clearly managed very well. I'm not a big fan of traveling anymore and dislike staying in hotels more than anything because of the obnoxious fellow guests that now seem to be the majority at every hotel I stay in. The staff at Fairfield gave me a little buffer as it was a low occupancy week, so I slept soundly in a hotel for the first time in ages. If I ever have to go back up to State College, the only place I'll stay is here.

Better than some "nicer" hotels have for sure. Overall I would definitely stay here again.
