The online booking process was relatively easy and the pick up was a breeze. The staff at the office was extremely courteous and thoroughly explained Go rentals policies, re-fueling requirements, and even had a short video showing New Zealand's driving laws and tips. The car itself was a nearly new, Toyota Rav 4 that was immaculate and drove great. When dropping off the car in Wellington, staff was equally friendly and courteous, and even made sure we had a way back to our hotel before they left for the day. If you need a vehicle if you're in New Zealand, Go Rentals is a great option for your car hire needs. Highly recommended!!

Due to a number of factors we arrived at the Hertz depot at 17.32. The branch displayed a closing time of 17.30. I had not realized this and I recognize I arrived after the official closing hours. However, There was a member of staff, a Mr Patrick on the premises. I explained the situation and offered my apologies and asked if he could assist me with the car. Patrick stated that he had a personal appointment and that I would have to come back tomorrow. He then drove away in from the premises in his car, despite my pleading with him for his assistance. This has left me in the position of having to find emergency accommodation in Auckland for this evening for myself, mother and sister. I am writing to register my disappointment with the behavior of the staff member. Leaving someone unaided in this way is shabby/ uncool behavior toward a stranger, let alone a customer. I had pre-registered / checked-in all details. The vehicle was visible, parked on the depot forecourt, the issue could have been processed in very little time.

The car was new and clean. When we returned it, we got stuck in traffic and called Hertz to advise we would be 1.5-2hours late and they told us not to worry. Very nice, as they could have charged us for another whole day. Only mild complaint was that the rate I booked was not given to me when I checked my receipt, so will query this with their head office when I get round to it. Overall, efficient, effective, professional, with new clean cars for a great price. Couldn't ask for much more.

That thing saved us, although we did put the wrong address in once that took us 45 miles outside of Auckland.... But that was our fault, ha! Got some great tips when I arrived about navigating Auckland. The check-in process took a bit, but it was because of the thorough inspection of the vehicle, which I appreciated. I got a great weekly rate on my little car and it had good gas-economy along w/really nice features (included a back-up camera imbedded in the rear-view mirror!). It handled great and was even comfortable for sleeping in (the one time I had to make it my impromptu hotel for the night). The return process was pretty quick as well. This location is off-airport and can be a bit of toughie to find if you don't have GPS.

We rented our car through Alamo, but I would expect the same experience for any of the other car rental companies under their umbrella. Check-in took a little while, but the rep was very helpful and did not try to up-sell us on getting a larger vehicle that we didn't need or want. On check-out, we were under the gun to make our flight on time and I accidentally left my cell phone in the car. The rep discovered it and they promptly mailed it back to me at my home in the US. We will definitely rent from them again if we make it back to New Zealand in the future.

We called them four times. They put us on hold each time and never came back to the line, or just didn't answer. AA also hung up on us. We showed up at the nearest GO branch in Waiheke hoping to switch the car, but they said they couldn't do anything because they would have to put the car on the ferry back to Auckland. (What did they think WE were going to have to do?) When we eventually returned the car at the Auckland branch, the manager Brent was rude and surly. He told us we needed to wait for him while he handled other tasks, like driving empty cars to the garage. Eventually he said we would receive a quote via email for the tire patch, and when the email came from his colleague Alyssa, we asked her to waive the fee per our contract (section 15.1), which states that if GO agrees the renter is not at fault, they will waive repair fees. Alyssa said they would not waive the fee and asked if we would authorize the charge. I asked, What if we don't authorize the charge? Brent wrote back and said, "There is no option to not pay as we believe we have communicated this clearly to you We have charged the card on file as per process and will send you the invoice". Needless to say, we will not be using GO in the future.

I was a…read morelittle unsure about using them because I'd never heard of them and their prices were the lowest, but I would definitely use them again. I guess the reason their prices are low is because they are not a big-name global brand and instead of having offices in the airport itself like Hertz, etc. do, they are nearby the airport. This means when you arrive you give them a call and they come pick you up in a shuttle to take you to the rental lot. They were always there very quickly. Major thanks to the staff at the Nelson office for being very patient and helpful through my many phone calls when our flight from Wellington was diverted due to weather. One downside is their offices close at 5pm, so if you need to pick up in the evening you'll have to make arrangements before they close. They did offer to leave my car at the airport for me if I arrived late. The cars were great, not brand new models but drove well and had everything we needed. If you've never driven on the left before you'll just need to watch a 5-minute video. Overall, very happy with Omega and would easily recommend and use them again.

I pulled over and called Budget help line. After giving them the address where I had pulled over they realized I was a 10 minute walk to the Central Business District Budget office which is part of the Apex rental location and managed by Sue Eustace employee number 021522725. We walked over and informed the person behind the desk that we had 2 blown tires and needed a tow. Sue interrupted the conversation saying "So, you were driving on the wrong side of the road and blew both tires!?" I explained that I was not on the wrong side of the road, I was in fact stopped at a light before taking a right and going over the curb. She flat out refused to believe I was anything but reckless and refused the replacement I was told over the phone was the solution. She made up her mind before asking a single question about where or how the accident occurred. She then called the airport location and the option to rent from that location evaporated as well. Only after informing me that she was refusing any replacement for reckless driving did she give me an accident report to fill out. After I gave it to her filled out and signed she added notes to my section without input from me. The Auckland airport team was great but under no circumstance should you attempt to utilize the CBD location until some kind of corrective measures are taken. I have added photos of the curb I hit to explain how it accident occurred. While continuing from a one lane red light right before the pedestrian hump I turned to sharply and hit the curb with both driver side tires. Pulled over immediately but both were punctured. No other damage to the car, though I had the extra insurance so that won't matter.

They do pick ups and drop offs at airports, although those especially need to be planned--they are often only there until 6pm or so. I had to get to the airport several hours earlier than I would otherwise have done in order to return the car. The staff were all friendly and helpful. On the North Island the car was much better car than the one on the South Island (the latter squeaked and made some other troubling noises, but there were no actual mechanical problems). We picked it up in Wellington and dropped it at the Auckland airport. The Auckland Airport location was very easy. A bit further to the terminal than I would have wanted to walk, but doable; in any event, I made sure I got there in time to take the shuttle. Note that the Wellington store is in a spot that frankly seemed bizarre--it was way out of town, sort of by the Interislander Ferry terminal (nowhere near the Bluebridge one, which is downtown), but not even that close. To get there from downtown you have to run across a highway and over train tracks and across overpasses (and pay the troll some gold and say the magic words)--it was pretty horrendous getting there. I don't know if they do pick-ups from the Interislander terminal, but I'd definitely recommend asking. If I had to get there from downtown again, I'd absolutely take a taxi. The staff at both places were friendly and the transactions were easy. The cars were pretty dumpy, standard 4-door sedans, but they drove fine. The staff pushed the full insurance, which is to the company's benefit, and didn't end up being necessary, but it brought nice peace of mind, and even with it the cost was much less than through other, bigger companies, so it was still a good deal.

We just came back from a 17 day trip in New Zealand on which we used Ace Rentals for our vehicle…read more We booked very early in that I booked the People Mover (Van for those in the US) back in Oct and got the best rate out of all the rental agencies I could find for Auckland. Booking online we easy and convenient, the only confusion I had was when I got the confirmation it showed as "Tourism Enterprises Ltd trading as "Ace Rental Cars"". When we arrived in Auckland we called the Airport branch from their courtesy phone and they arrived in van with a trailer for our luggage within 10 mins. At the branch, the staff were friendly and got us squared away with the paperwork rather quickly. We did opt for the full insurance which I think made the paperwork go much quicker. Now here is where I had the only problems. After getting the paperwork done, they walked us out to check out the vehicle and walked up to a car, this was not what we had reserved as we had reserved a People Mover (Van for those in the US) I showed them my booking receipt and they apologized and we walked back in while they got the People Mover ready. We went out and checked out the vehicle, put our luggage in and drove off. This vehicle had a problem right from the start in that at about 50K it had a horrible engine noise and no acceleration and then the check engine light came on. We immediately took it back and after waiting another 10-15 minutes they got us another People Mover (Van for those in the US) and we drove off into the city without issues this time. We were very happy with this vehicle and had no issues with it while on our trip. I would recommend getting the full insurance as many roads outside of the city have loose stone and can easily chip the windshield which happened in our case. That and you do not have to deal with the large hold on you card (what they call Excess and Bond) When we returned the People Mover (Van for those in the US), it only took a few minutes to check the vehicle in and the van to take us to the departure terminal was already there so we were taken right off to the terminal. Despite the initial problems, I would still recommend this company due to the value for the service. The next closest competitor was at least $300 more and that was a similar service to Ace. If you went with the name brand agencies I would have spent over $1000 more.
