After three other consults, we chose this office for a few key reasons: 1. Treatment recommendation: I visited three other orthos for consults. Each ortho suggested something different, but this doctor's plan made the most sense. He explained the why, what, how, and when behind each intervention over the next 24 months. 2. Expertise vs. "years in the field": I don't put much weight on providers who advertise "decades of experience" as their main selling point. Years alone don't guarantee quality--sometimes it means outdated methods or burnout (this applies to other fields too--law firms, mechanics, surgeons, chefs, teachers, etc.). What stood out here was that the Bronskeys' brand backed their expertise with relevant credentials and a consult that felt thoughtful and up-to-date. Even though insurance didn't cover this office (almost $3k more per child out of pocket), the value was clear enough for me to move forward as a cash paying customer. 3. Ethical/best practice: There were mistakes in the first two appointments that caused a five-week delay in starting treatment. Instead of brushing it off or trying to minimize it, the doctor corrected the issue properly. To me, that showed priorities--doing it RIGHT, not just doing it fast. A note for anyone searching: Ortho treatment is long-term (13-24 months). You're unlikely to find many negative reviews because patients are essentially locked in once treatment starts. That makes online ratings a bit misleading. The real question is whether the orthodontist will prioritize quality, ethics, and TRANSPARENCY when mistakes happen. As I mentioned, I also visited 3 other highly rated ortho clinics in OC and LA. In those cases, it was either the orthodontist, the billers, or the office managers--mostly the orthodontists--who did a poor job masking their incompetence, lack of attention to detail, or decision-making clearly driven--or at least influenced--by billing or office management. For fellow Yelpers looking for an orthodontist for themselves or a minor child, I'd recommend at least doing a free consult here.
