Worst place to get dropped off by an ambulance after a car accident. Waiting for 7 hours in ER without being seen is crazy!

This is a truly mixed review and it's of the ER. I've been to the ER two Sunday's in a row. One at…read more10pm and one at 10am. Both times with someone who is immune compromised and has specific care needs. When we arrived the first time there was an incredibly kind security officer who was so helpful on so many levels that he would have almost made up for the rest of the unimaginable things that I saw in the waiting room. Of all places to see people without masks or with the masks on incorrectly, you certainly wouldn't expect it in a hospital. Not on incoming patients or visitors and staff alike in the waiting area. Not on nurses or doctors in the triage area as well. I'm at a complete loss. And what further confounded me was the fact that I was completely forgotten about in the waiting room from 10:20 till 12:50. When I did finally get back there , he ( the patient) said he had asked for me several times. I completely understand that it's very difficult juggling situations that occur in the ER, I've spent most of the last ten years in hospitals. Once back there the staff was kind and caring with or without masks. The next trip , the 10am trip was much better controlled in the mask department. Everyone was wearing one and it was on correctly. Everyone in the intake was absolutely kind and lovely. There were somethings that as a caregiver, I had to tell staff , that I would have hoped they would have known. But these are special circumstances so that can be let go. So essentially people who work here are nothing but kind, but some of the rules are followed to the point of harming the emotional well being of the patient and some are not followed well at all such as to endanger all of the people here. I forgot to mention that the chairs and tables were not cleaned at all in all the hours I was waiting here.

Why would you allow,or clear,a patient for AN ELECTIVE SURGERY,when that patient had sepsis (Enterococcus faecalis),not responding whatsoever to treatment, her heart valve also had this growing on it (They were going to send her to Mercy Hospital, NEVER DID) and pneumonia. They first said she was too sick to go to the OR,then someone said they were going to take, then no again. This went on for about 5 or 6 changes. We asked time again what was going on ,and we're told, shes going into surgery.... Later that night coded.... Sent to ICU... Passed away at 8:03 a.m. the next day,but im thinking it was before that. Shouldn't the heart, which runs everything AND the bacteria be "fixed" or tended to first? Absolutely NO communication between staff, nobody could answer ANYTHING and when you did ask,you were really putting them out. In my surgical experience, if you so much as sneezed ,you were rescheduled. This was NOT life threatening. No common sense much less medical knowledge Thank you Sisters of Charity Hospital for taking my mother. Yeah...such a "great place"

Which was great because I had to have a surgery clearance with additional testing because preop testing indicated a bad EKG. From the moment I got there an extremely pleasant lady met me at the door and took my information. I waited a short time and was then registered by another person. A very short time later I was taken back for the echocardiogram by an awesome technician and after got an I.V. from a nurse who was incredible, couldn't even tell she put it in. When that was finished I was taken for a PET scan, the guys that perform them are pretty cool dudes . After that on to the stress test where I was given the tracer and medication for the stress test as I was walking on the treadmill by the sweetest lady. And then given the medication to reverse the effects of stress. Then on to another PET scan and that was it. I have never had such fantastic care from all of the people who took care of me from start to finish for the 2 o 3 hours it takes to do these. Were the kindest and most professional people who seem to really care and enjoy what they do. This made the time spent there fly by, thanks for a pleasant experience. I will make sure to tell that anyone I know who may have to get these tests, to come here for their testing.

So I could tell…read moremany stories about the exceptional care and staff but I'll just recount my latest experience having outpatient hernia surgery here on May 9, 2026. It was a breeze, to be honest. I did my presurgery testing there as well. Easy check in at the kiosk and they take you immediately at your appointment time. I personally never had to wait. Three tests, out the door in half an hour. Very similar day of surgery. I arrived 10 minutes early and was getting dressed in a lovely gown within moments. I wasn't particularly nervous about the operation certainly there's always a bit of anxiety. It helps a lot to be prepped for surgery quickly and by the most polite, professional and kind staff you can hope for. It takes about 2 hours to get a patient ready and it goes by fast. It's also understandable that sometimes there might be a delay but it's no one's fault. Emergency room delays are common everywhere and it depends entirely on how many people need care at the same time. Staff aren't responsible for a rush of ailing people and they do their best to triage appropriately and provide the required care. A shot of "happy juice" in my IV and I enjoyed a rather breezy and relaxed ride into the operating room. At which point, dreamland in moments. Next thing you know, you're awake and being offered ice chips and a ginger ale and graham crackers. I was up walking to the restroom in no time and out the door soon thereafter. Without recounting each time myself or family has been there, I can tell you that every nurse is incredible and every doctor takes the time to listen and address concerns. (I did meet one physician I didn't care for, to be honest, but taking into account 40 years of going here, I don't think that's worth even a gentle complaint.) I noticed someone mentioned difficulty finding parking. I had that happen only once but it was a short walk from a side street to the front door. I hope I don't need their services too often but if I do, I know I'll be taken care of properly and with professionalism and a caring staff who understands any hospital visit can be stressful and they do all they can to make it easy for you.

I do feel checked me out thoroughly, although didn't come up with definite answers, and still follow up with other doctors, I will say I was provided good service.

Well, they called there and they had a 6 hour wait. So we went to Degraff. Degraff was nice and small and not overwhelmed with people. It was nice to experience this. You'll tell security why you're there, fill out a little yellow form, and put it in a tray outside of the triage nurse window. While you're waiting, there is a TV on. Surprisingly, it was playing Psycho (the old Alfred Hitchcock movie). I'm not complaining at all, just was not expecting that! There is a station where you can borrow complimentary chargers, which was great, as I was not expecting this and my phone was low on battery. You'll give the machine your number and a credit or debit card from your phone (I think I used Apple Pay). This is just to assure you'll bring the charger back and will not charge you unless you don't bring it back on time (I believe it gave me 24 hours with it, if needed). It will give you the date and time to return by. Then, you'll just stick in any of the open ports and you'll get a text confirming your return (and a message on the screen where you returned it). The overall visit was very pleasant and went by quickly. We were in and out of the ER in 3 hours flat. This included a CT scan. The staff was incredibly nice and communicated well.
