So my heater quit on Thursday. Called ECI and Chris came out and diagnosed the End of Days for the old heater. He scheduled the new install for Saturday and the guys were out at 8AM and worked until 5PM. They were pleasant and friendly. They didn't fool around and did a wonderful job. The price was good and after speaking with a relative it was fair. This company from the people who answer the phones to the service guys are top notch. Based only on reviews online we called on Friday looking for service on our heater. To our surprise, they said someone could come out the following day. Gave my husband a 4 hour window from 8-12 and told him we were at the top of the list. No one showed or called us and at 12 we finally called ECI to see what happened. We were told that we were bumped down the list of calls because they accommodate contract customers first. While that's great in theory why on earth would we buy a contract from a company who can't even honor an initial appointment window? And doesn't bother calling to let you know? We were lucky enough to go with a different company who not only arrived on time but finished by 3pm. read more

Humidifier leak. The tech, Jason, immediately identified the root cause behind the leak and proceeded to replace the tubing on the humidifier. Very professional and knowledgeable. He wore foot coverings while in the house and made it a point to clean up and wipe down any mess that was made from the repair. Will definitely use ECI again. read more

my mom had a tech come out today to install a new unit after paying 8,728.00 for him to only tell her that they couldn't complete the job because of a shelf being in the way. No paper work was given only an invoice that they diagnosed the problem. Poor poor customer service. I would never rec this company to anyone! I had a new unit put in and I had to put a deposit down and pay the rest when the job was completed who makes an elder women on a foxed income pay that kind of money only to come out and not compete the job leaving my mom In the cold! read more

This was my annual service call on a 1 year old, newly installed AC system. Rich Slawecki and a trainee arrived (after a phone call from him that they were on their way - much appreciated) at the time expected. They wore appropriate protective gear for their safety and mine - again much appreciated. They got right to work, took their time and were careful in they way they serviced the AC unit (inside and outside). I asked for help with the Honeywell app for my thermostat and Rich gladly helped me and gave me excellent instruction. I had a water drip pipe that kept coming apart and they gladly fixed it. ECI's service is exceptional, skilled, polite, on time and helpful. What more could a customer want? I am glad I found them from a friend's referral years ago. I just want to comment here I am so disappointed with the experience with ECI. I have a gas valve issue and need a replacement. The tech people came this afternoon and do the diagnosis. After checking, he told me the charge for the replacement will be $849 which I think it's way to high for just replace the valve. I did the research the cost will be around $300 to $500. Because the parts cost only $100ish. So he said he need to make a call with his boss. Then he came back said the lowest They can offer is $699 which is beyond my budget too. I refused. He then claimed that if I don't want to pay the replacement the checking fee would be $149. Which I am so shocked. When I made the appointment they clearly said the diagnosis fee would be $89... Then he agreed $89 is the bill I pay for he only showing for 10 mins.. Which I know exactly the issue is need to have the gas valve to be replaced. I made another call and the other company only will charge for $350.. So don't know how they charge the customer, the labor is beyond higher. Find a better one. read more

Katy came to inspect our mini-split heat pumps and gas furnace and noted a soot leak in the furnace exhaust. She came back today with Rich and replaced the furnace exhaust pipe promptly. Just want to let you know, Rich is the Best Air Conditioner Man ever! We called ECI yesterday and we received exceptional service today. ECI had installed the air conditioner a couple of years prior to my moving into my new home and we called ECI last year to check the unit and all was running well. He had some trepidations about the "Nest" thermostat that was installed by the previous owner, but I didn't want to change it, as I wanted to keep it for the convenience of being able to program it via my iPhone. Well fast forward today, July 30, 2019, the "Nest" went "Kaputsky." I have heard from others about their dissatisfaction with the Nest and therefore I decided to get the non-smart type thermostat​. I had a very good pleasure of interviewing for this company. The manager seemed very cool in the interview process. Had me starting within a few days with my qualifications. On day one of employment I had to fill out some application information. And apparently one of his employees knows me from the local area and spoke down on me and without any explanation whatsoever they declined my employment. Wouldn't even give me a chance to work for the company. I find it very unfair. Very unprofessional to say the least I would steer clear of this company they obviously don't not care about expanding with new people or any livelihood people have to support. When we remodeled our prewar Rittenhouse Square apartment, we started by total demolition of all of the walls and ceilings, along with everything else. The original air conditioning system had been very intrusive, dropping ceilings to as low as 7 feet in some areas. We were determined to avoid such offensive details in the new installation. Luckily, the air conditioning installation was entrusted to ECI. It was an easy choice to go with a high velocity system, in order to to avoid ungainly ducts, registers, etc. But even with this approach it was a difficult task. Another contractor whom we had interviewed previously had informed us that it would be impossible to install the air conditioning properly in our large, 2-story living room because there were beams in the way. The locations available for air handlers without dropping ceilings were limited, and beams seemed to block the path at every turn. Nonetheless, by putting in the time and effort to work in concert with us, Ron and Jeremy were able to devise a plan that surmounted all the obstacles. The few soffits required were kept to a minimum and positioned in a harmonious way with the architectural details of the apartment. The air handlers were tucked away in the most minimal way possible, one in a closet barely more than 2 feet wide and another above the ceiling in the kitchen entry where there were no obstacles to maintaining the ceiling height above 8'. As for the living room that another contractor thought was impossible to air condition properly, a small, inconspicuous soffit above a doorway provided the path for the required duct. The end result is a system that works perfectly and is invisible to all but the most trained eye. It is better than we could have imagined in our most optimistic moments. read more

We were in constant contact via email for the appointment and then via cell phone for safety in our current situation. He had his work cut out for him and corrected the issue. Called the main office and lady named Jenn says that the driver knocked and nobody was home. 3 cars in the driveway but we weren't home! I met with 3 other vendors to help me understand my options for installing AC in my old interior row home before accidentally stumbling across ECI on youtube of all places. The first vendor never came back with an estimate, the second vendor told me it wouldn't be possible to install AC, and the third vendor (one that probably comes up first for most people searching) told me my only option was a high velocity system. That vendor quoted me a little under $30k and were super pushy when I questioned my other options. Finally I called ECI and Joe came out. He explained that a ductless mini-split system would work really well for my house and provided me 3 different options of set ups with different price ranges. I chose an option that will allow me to add another room to the existing system when I'm ready which kept my initial costs down. He was super responsive and patient as well. Install week came and the two folks that came over were great. They were super clean, worked quickly, and before I knew it, everything was finished. My only regret is that I wasted so much time with those other vendors before finding ECI. Thank you all so much! read more

My heater went down over the winter. It was in the middle of one of those cold snaps and it was about 10 degrees that day. Knowing how taxed these companies get in extreme weather I thought it was going to take at least another day if not more to get a serviceman out. ECI showed up about 2 hours later with all the right parts and I was up and running about 30 minutes later! They take good care of their customers. read more

Good news and bad news. I tried the ac on Memorial Day and it worked!!! The bad news? It took three service visits after installation of a new system to get it operational. If that is the kind of performance you want from your ac installer, then this is the company for you. Chase--The fact that there were three service visits had nothing to do with me. You were not waiting on me. The first service visit was because the fan unit in the attic was not operational. (Bad wiring?? On a new unit?? Bad install perhaps?) The second and third visits were because the compressor was not working. (Why would the refrigerant leak out of a new system??) Based on my experience I have no confidence that the ac system will continue working. Cannot recommend. I will post again if the situation changes. read more

I can't say enough good about ECI. They came in via referral. I had a full HVAC system installed into my home. Their crew came in like a swat team and finished on time and in budget. It's the kind of "contractor experience" you always dreamt of. They were clean, professional and went beyond the call to consult on things like extra filtering. I stopped and chatted with some of the installers working on a air conditioning system and was impressed enough that I called and scheduled an appointment to have my heating system looked at. All as promised. Showed up when they said. Very professional. Neat, clean, polite. They removed my oil tank, oil furnace, installed a new fuel efficient gas fired furnace. Recommended by a friend because out 7 year old AC system closed down, we called Monday and they said they would be over at 10am. They arrived 10 minutes early! Kris and Ryan were very courteous and pit shoe covers on when they came in the door. They diagnosed and fixed the problem which meant replacing a pump for $300. This is good and what makes it great for us is that we had been quoted by another firm either $2300 to replace the 'blown' motherboard/thermostat or a new system for $5100. If you are looking for a company that will eagerly schedule an appointment block for you and then completely fail to show up or doesn't even bother to contact you regarding their delayed arrival then this is the company for you! They scheduled an 8-10 AM appointment with me to service my AC. At 10:15 I had yet to see or hear from anyone so I called the main office and inquired about when the tech would be arriving. I was assured that someone was coming and the gentleman at the front office said he would contact the tech and call me right back. An hour later I was still waiting for a return phone call or the tech to arrive. At this point, I feel ECI does not value my time as a potential customer so I called back to cancel and they wanted to keep me on hold for 5 minutes. I understand that it's a busy season but the lack of professionalism and utter disregard one's time is unacceptable. I chose this company based upon the reviews posted but clearly did not have the same experience. UPDATE (7/7/2015): ECI reached out to me after my initial review and admitted they dropped the ball and offered to rectify the issue which I appreciated. I told them the next available time I could have someone come out would be July 3rd not realizing they planned to be closed for the holiday. I spoke with Ron and Chase and both stated they will absolutely still send someone out from 9-10 even though the office would be closed. The tech showed up promptly at 9:00 AM and quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue all before 9:45 AM! It seems my initial experience was atypical and not indicative of their level customer satisfaction. read more
