She started not knowing a lick of soccer and now she's in there kicking her way up and down the field and she feels proud she got the player of the game medal last week for saving a goal in which the other team would have tied. The coaches are nice and all the kids have good sportsmanship. My older daughter wants to play also but they have an age cutoff of 8 years for soccer and I believe 7 for baseball. You can go to their website to get the latest information and start of new seasons and schedules. Two thumbs up for i9 sports couldn't have asked for a better first experience for my baby. So if you're debating a kids sports league i9 is the way to go.

Roller Derby Season is almost here!…read more I must admit, I was turned on by the sport after seeing the 2009 film "Whip It", directed by Drew Barrymore. Little did I know at the time that roller derby was alive in San Diego! And, why wouldn't it be! We started attending derby and I realized I had found my spectator sport and as the movie suggested, it's much like finding your tribe! I was never the athletic type, yoga and tai chi and hitting the hot tub is more my speed but get me to a roller derby and I'm ready for some action! Teamwork to empowerment! A great esteem builder! Knee high socks and helmets! Retro fashion at its finest! And, the names the girls come up with are beyond creative; Tripsy Gypsy, Sugar n' Spite, or Bat Hit Crazy! Better than a horse race any day! Season tickets average less than $10 per person per game! You can train to be a debt girl too ( 8 week program). Get ready to derby as a spectator or participant! This basketball league is by far one of the worst ones I have ever enrolled my children in- from "coaching" and how staff handled it overall. At first glance, staff was friendly and appeared knowledgeable about the game. But when it came to practice and the actual game, it was lacking. Understandably most kids have never played basketball, but it shouldn't stop you, the coach/staff, from calling a blatant travel all game OR addressing it during practice! Not addressing it just builds bad habits especially for young players. Cool story. There were younger players who finished their championship game before ours. All trophies were on a table outside for presentation. When the winning team went outside, the 2nd place team had taken the 1st place trophies and the champion team had to settle for 2nd place medals due to a lack of coordination by staff. Again, I'm sure the winning players felt wonderful afterwards. Another amazing story. During my son's championship game the staff realized the team were lopsided and decided to swap my son and another player to the losing team after the first quarter. First off, shouldn't the staff know their players by season's end to divide teams evenly? Apparently not cause no one was paying attention all season. In the end, the losing team lost and the staff gave my son a participation medal which went into the trash before we even left the gym. Save your money folks and go somewhere else.

It is without a doubt the most disorganized league we have ever seen. So Disorganized to the detriment of the experience for the kids. Some teams didn't have a coach and the leagues though advertised to be a certain age group were in fact not. We registered for the 7-9 year olds and they made it 6-10.... How in the heck is a 6 year old supposed to play with a 10 year old. Bill Sixsmith is a coward who won't respond to emails.

My Mom and I were very happy to find excellent deals on tickets and fan promotions. Upon arrival the SD Clippers staff were friendly and helpful. Once we entered Frontwave Arena, my Mom and I got free basketball jerseys as our fan appreciation giveaway. I can tell the Oceanside/Carlsbad communities surrounding Frontwave have really latched on to this team since they've moved from Ontario. The energy was lively and the team respected the fan base. Hence, why the team had a 50% end of season sale on merch! Such a nice surprise! I'd definitely return to see the SD Clippers again. Frontwave has great seats and I can see this team getting better and better each year. Theme nights need a little work and more inclusion, however the Clippers are chugging along in a positive direction.

Carlsbad Village Athletic Club hosts Sunday morning yoga every week near the volleyball nets on Frazee Beach. Their waving yoga banners are easy to spot from the sea wall. The instructor is very lovely. She led the small class of five through a blend of opening poses & set a peaceful vibe, complete with some gentle assists & eucalyptus oil therapy. CVAC's rates recently increased from $10 to $15 a class, which is steep for a one hour outdoor session. $15 is on par with indoor studios that provide other amenities & equipment. With the nature of the soft sloping sand at Frazee, I personally found it too easy to dump all my weight into my wrists in inverted poses. Unless the class moves down to the more solidly packed sand, Frazee is better suited for meditation, seated, or standing poses. Beach yoga is a win either way, and CVAC's class is definitely worth checking out on a snoozy Sunday morning.

The yoga teachers have their own style, rhythm vibe and teachings which I love for the variety. They offer classes on Saturday & Sunday mornings and between the months April to September they offer Sunset classes which are breathtaking! I have asthma so I find doing the classes outside provides open-air versus inside where the air can be a bit stuffy at times causing it hard to breathe and making it unpleasant. Yoga should be relaxing allowing you to be present and aware of oneself in the moment. The stimulation we received from our senses in this outdoor environment make the whole experience different.......Like the feeling of sand beneath our feet or hearing the waves crash against the shore and let's not forget natural absorption of vitamin D from the Sun! Yes, at times it can be challenging because the ground is unstable but know your body and know your limits. I personally like it because it challenges me to work on my core more. All the teachers are certified and can help you with any modifications. I highly recommend CVAC Beach Yoga. You just might see dolphins or whales and that my friend you will not find in a studio!
