So after years of wandering the earth like Caine from Kung Fu in search of the perfect haircut, I stumbled upon Tammy at Luxe Hair Studio a couple of years ago. Now instead of getting comments like "Oh, you got a haircut", I actually get post-haircut compliments. And that minor miracle alone is worthy of a 5 star rating. Besides getting a killer haircut, I like going to Luxe because: * setting an appointment is easy peasy, just go online and book a time that fits into my schedule * Tammy does a great job of staying on schedule, so she is ready for me at the designated appointment time * the pre-cut shoulder massage and gratis beverages are nice added perks * the cost for a men's haircut is a very reasonable $25 So my wanderings for the perfect haircut are now over and thanks to Luxe, I didn't have to adopt Caine's shaved dome as my new hairstyle.

I had been having tons of subpar haircuts and it was great to go to her again. Chloe has also chopped a bunch of my hair off a few times, which is super fun! I have always had a hard time describing how I'd like my haircut done in the past, and so I always just asked her to do the same thing, as I need always a professional haircut, and as she is a good listener; she'll do it; as time went by and slowly I trusted her, one day, I told her; I'd like something different I described a style I'd like, vaguely, then I showed her a picture- and in less than 5 minutes; she actually got it. She is sharp, bright, very experienced, worldly, friendly, and really approachable; and one can really tell, she loves her work very much. She is one hidden gem in Madison! Her location in Middleton is perfect; professional building and luxury condominium; there's a coffee shop across the street and lots of restaurants; and making an appointment with her is so easy; she just makes everything easy. If you are new in town, it is really worth checking her out. I am leaving WI for good; and I am really going to miss her expertise and radiant personality; she just makes everything easy.

I found Melissa by asking my curly-haired bank teller--who always looks great--for the name of her stylist. She too loves Melissa. I've been to Vivid a few times now, so know that you can depend on Melissa to: -Cut it right the first time, so no going back for fixes. -Take the time to blow out and cut your hair dry, if that's right for your curl type (mine is 3A-ish). -Consistently give you a great cut that looks fab curly or straight. -Cut it right for your face type. -Know the possibilities for your curl type. -Never try to upsell you; just builds trust one great cut after the other. The salon is easy to get to from the Madison, WI, area. It takes me just 18 minutes from downtown. Considering that I never have to go back for her to fix my cuts, it takes much less time than going to salons that are just 5-10 minutes away. Vivid is a new independent salon. At the time that I'm writing this review they may just have a Facebook page, but not an active website. Tho the salon is new, Melissa is an experienced stylist, so no worries there. I've already tried several of the other stylists who you'll find on this and other websites. Melissa is the only one who really, truly knows what she's doing with curly hair.
