Manning Park staff allowed a bunch of drunken meatheads to run amok all weekend. In the Lightning Lakes campground this past weekend -Sept 12 & 13, 2014- a group of at least 20 people had booked at least 6 sites for a wedding.
The happy couple and all their friends got plastered Friday night and partied on until at least 2am. Quiet time begins at 10:30 but there was no response -or at least no effective response- from Manning Park ranger staff.
Car horns honkin', stereos cranked, hootin' & hollerin', cussin' up a storm well into the night and not a thing was done by the rangers.
Based on my experience at similar provincial campgrounds in Ontario, these guys should have been evicted Friday night by midnight. Instead, Manning Park staff did absolutely nothing.
Imagine camping with your family and finding yourself in a site right next to these idiots.
Manning Park ranger staff should have -at the very least- been at the offending sites at 8am the next day to watch the meatheads pack up and escort them out of the park. They were that loud and obnoxious and offensive to everyone around them.
Instead, Manning Park staff ignored the entire situation and allowed it to repeat itself the following night. Saturday night was worse by a factor of 3. Absolutely off the charts white trash meathead party blaring until 4 in the morning.
Imagine someone cranking their car stereo and honking their horn at 3 in the morning in a campground.
At one point -somewhere around 2 or 3 in the morning- one of the other campers in the park confronted the meatheads and demanded that they shut down their party. He was promptly cussed out and threatened with a beating because no one can stand in the way of the meatheads right to party.
And where was Manning Park staff?
Nowhere.
For 7 hours these idiots ran amok in the park. And the campground was full. There were easily 300+ people in there that weekend. Everyone of them ignored by Manning Park staff.
The meatheads also built huge fires on their sites -well beyond regulation size. What if they set the trees on fire in their drunken stupor?
They put the park itself in jeopardy and a few hundred other campers, as well. That would've made a good headline in the local papers.
And Manning Park staff was nowhere to be seen.
The only thing that stopped the meatheads was beer. They ran out of beer around 4 in the morning. God help us all if they'd had a keg.
Sunday morning arrives and not a sign of a ranger, an RCMP officer or anyone else from Manning Park.
And we paid $35 a night for the privilege of experiencing this kind of hospitality from Manning Park staff.
The washrooms are clean, though. I guess that's all they have to do to fulfill their mandate.
It's crying shame that this garbage is allowed to go in a provincial park in 2014. read more
