I will have to say that Dr. Hazany himself is a great doctor, he takes the time to listen and helps with whatever situation you are going through. On other hand the front office, Maria and whoever else is up there is horrible. I have made request for my prescription to be filled but NO ONE is returning my calls or the pharmacies. It has been roughly 2 months without one of my meds, I have made a payment on my account which they claimed if I did my appt would be made and my script refill request would be called in. BUT APPARENTLY the front office does not really understand mental health. I doubt it was good for me to get off my med cold turkey but that is what has happened and due to covid I am on a waiting list for a new doctor. SO if you truly want good help, I would walk away from this office and not suggest it to anyone.. ***PS they never send you a bill in the mail, apparently you are suppose to read their minds AND they bill for 45 minute visits when it was a 2 min telehealth. Very good doctor in a very difficult specialty. Working with psych patients is incredibly difficult for obvious reasons. However, Dr. Hazany demonstrates his great skill, wonderful bedside manner and intelligent use of interventions for very good outcomes. Of course many patients, don't always like to hear the steps they need to take to get better. But that's the challenge in this area of medicine. A lot of healing depends on patient responsibility. Oftentimes lifestyle modifications, and behavioral therapy must be sought in addition to pharmaceuticals. For most patients, there is no easy fix. But with Dr. Hazany's experience and expertise, you are on the road to healing....if you can implement the needed steps. read more

Dr hazany has been one of the most caring doctors I have ever had in my life. I've been seeing him nearly 6 years and I can't imagine seeing anyone else. When I first started seeing him my life was in disarray. Today, I'm about to finish my bachelors degree and I feel that I have a purpose, goals, and I feel much more confident all around. Dr hazany has helped me with so much including my social anxiety. He worked with me at my own pace and helped me with my social anxiety as well as other issues I initially came in for. He's always provided me with great insight and new perspective. He's also always willing to answer questions or any concerns. I never feel like I'm being judged or my opinion isn't important. I would highly recommend him to anyone!! All of his staff is great too, especially Lisa! My schedule is always hectic because I work full time and I'm a full time student, and she always helps me to rearrange my appointments even though it happens often. Had to wait about 45 minutes both times I saw this doctor. The receptionist told me that this is normal for the office. During my visit, the doctor was not very friendly and looked like he was falling asleep at one point. He was much more interested in just writing me a quick prescription than getting a detailed description and understanding of my issues. Won't be going back. read more

He's a great doctor that remembers everything you tell him and try to be very direct and honest which is a blessing. I've been seeing Dr. Hazany for 4 years as he treats me for Adult ADD. Let me begin by saying I love his front office staff. Lisa makes you feel so welcome when you come in the office. Due to my work schedule sometimes I have to request changes to my appt and she's always willing to go above and beyond for me. Dr. Hazany is prompt, doesn't just write out the prescription and not talk to you like psychiatrists I've seen in the past. He talks to you and gives you advice and suggestions to better manager the stress and anxiety I deal with. Even when I go in calm, I leave even calmer. He has that effect. My mother went to see this Dr for severe depression. In 4 months she went from driving to a non functioning adult in a diaper. This Dr never took her BP and would NOT talk to her...preferring to talk to me. I fired him and took my mother to a Nuerologist. Her severe decline was due to the drug that this Dr prescribed to her. I later found out this drug mimics Parkinsons. After 2 weeks of being weaned off this drug, she was out of a diaper . It's been almost 6 weeks and the improvement is incredible. Please check the medicine your loved ones are being prescribed. Had I known mom was being prescribed a black box warning drug, I would have never even filled it. read more

One of the other reviewers sounds like some medication may be needed and soon, and I wouldn't want to see this person either. I say this because Dr. Hazany is one of the kindest persons I have ever met. His office staff is marvelous (to me anyway), and I have never seen her be disrespectful to anyone. If you are in a jam (need meds or something) she will help you and she won't stop until you get what you need. Dr. Hazany has diagnostic skills that are fascinating to me. I would never have dreamed I had ADD, but after I read up on it and read the behavior associated with it, I was blown away. I realized after I had started taking the medication for the condition that I really do have ADD. It could have been any of 5 or more other conditions that are better understood, I had been through about 4 mental health professionals before Dr. Hazany and I thought they were a lot crazier than I would ever be. The snotty office clerk was unable to assist me in finding an appointment before or after my work day, so I had to go into work late one day. This wouldn't have been a big deal if the doctor wasn't running an HOUR BEHIND because he was "stuck in traffic." While I was waiting for doc, the office clerk charged me $50 in advance to even billing my insurance company (which I have never paid a co-pay under). When I finally did see Dr. Hazany, he did not want to refill my current prescriptions that I have been on for about five years and have already been approved by my OBGYN. He said that I was too much of a liability because I was pregnant. He feared I would sue him for any birth defects, whether or not they are caused by my medications. Then, he continued to question me on whether or not I was going to keep my child (I am 6 months pregnant) because he is doomed for a mood disorder! Also, I was told by him that my child will suffer from codependency from ages 2-50 because I have fear of abandonment. When I asked if that would be fixable/workable with me in therapy, he replied, "Not in my experience." I feel that this doctor is both impersonal and unprofessional. I was under the impression that when you work in the medical field, especially psychiatry, your job is to preserve life and it's quality the best you can. read more

Dr. Hazany has been a Godsend to me! I have been with him for a few years and he has ALWAYS been Professional and Compassionate. His office staff is kind and accommodating even in some tough situations. I appreciate all they do for me. As for me, I've personally been to hell in the last year, I couldn't have made it with out Dr. Hazany's Professional help. I have been a patient of Dr. Hazany for the past several years. He is a very intelligent and insightful man who wants you to understand what you are experiencing and become an active participant in your treatment. There have been occasions when I have resisted trying a medication and Dr. Hazany has never tried to coerce me into taking anything I was not comfortable with. I have not spent excessive time in his waiting room. An average appointment is 10 - 15 minutes but he will spend more time with you if necessary. Expect to pay more in that case. read more

If you're seeking a caring, experienced, reasonably priced (not so easy to find in LA) no-nonsense psychiatrist, Dr. Hazany is a good resource. Both he and his office staff are professional and caring, and they really try to accommodate individual requests within reason. If you have to wait to see him, it's usually because he's trying to squeeze someone in who really needs help now. Dr. Hazany also has a strong work ethic, which is manifested in his ability to help many patients in a given day, without making one feel rushed when it's your time. If you're seeing him for meds, he makes the most of a monthly check - but I'd recommend either booking more time with him in advance OR augmenting by also seeing a talk therapist. 15-20 min. once a month isn't really enough to tackle most scenarios. But, if that's all you can do, he's the best. Like someone else mentioned, I don't know what I will do if he retires. He is needed in this community. read more

Sadly, this doctor is someone who does not think after-care is a necessary part of the doctor-patient relationship. My severely depressed & anxious mother-in-law, whom I am care-taking, went to see Dr. Hazany last month as a new patient. After her appointment, some questions arose about the new medication he prescribed, as well as some other important questions about rx interactions. I called the office no less than 5 times, spoke with his receptionist Lisa, emailed a power of attorney so he could feel comfortable speaking with me or my husband, emailed lengthy and well thought out letters about our concerns, finally resorting to an angry voicemail imploring him to get in touch with our family. Only after several weeks did I receive a short and curt email suggesting we get a second opinion. It is infuriating to put your trust in a medical professional only to have them act entirely unprofessional. Sadly, the one continuing to suffer is my mother in law, a human being who deserves better care. If you are reading this review, I hope to spare you that fate. Keep looking. read more
