How could I possibly give a one star for a place I've been going to for over 30 years. Well, I'll tell you why. I went in last week to get my usual of a flat of "checks" and a flat of smalls. The price went up in one week $2 dollars each. Checks $5 a flat. D smalls $4 . Okay, I understand feed price's probably went up and I get it. Over the many years I have signed petitions for the Ranch regarding the attempt to change the laws on free range and cages, I was there for you . Today I went in and all the egg prices went up more than 100%. In less than a week, 100% increase. Were you impacted by the Avian Flu? "No"... To me it's gouging because you can. So now I'll just buy my eggs from Trader Joe's. They are having supply problems but they have NOT raised their prices. read more

No brown eggs or duck eggs. Eggs graded large are really smaller than in the past. I asked for the Trump discount but not honoring it.

I have to laugh because I called to ask them if their eggs were pasteurized and the lady who answered the phone had no idea what I was talking about. She thought I meant "in a pasture" and I said no...like cooked (for lack of better term, ie destroying bacteria)...and she said no they're raw Right, I know they're raw eggs...I was so flabbergasted by an egg farm not knowing what pasteurization means I really couldn't find the words. It doesn't say "pasteurized" on the cartoon, but the website says "processed", the end of the call she noted that they are just washed. I just wanted to know if they were safe to eat raw but I guess not which is fine, they are very good otherwise, but an egg ranch not knowing what pasteurization is was pretty funny. read more

Good eggs are easy to find. Great eggs are delicious, lovely ovoids of love. That's exactly what you find at Eben-Haezer Poultry Ranch. I've lived close enough to make the drive and simply didn't. Why? Well, my past journeys of cutting past on the way to the mountains was simply unbearable. The ranches along the way we're "forced" producers. Holding your breath for over 3 minutes is nearly impossible and dangerous. This is the result of the odor. It smells like $$$t! Nothing more. Always wished it were less. Certainly expected when you unnaturally house animals on top of each other without room to move. In addition they are fed products they wouldn't naturally source. End result. Mass quantities of poor quality. Eben-Haezer Poultry Ranch is a breath of fresh air. Literally! - It had the fragrance of fresh dirt. - Hens roam freely. - There play set kids can actually use. - Patient and courteous customer service. - Receive a informative and enlightening information. In starting, I have to say the negative-based reviews amaze me. In light of recent events affecting the world, as a whole, people are ranting about a $2 surcharge. If you're in the position to afford to drive the distance to get THE BEST EGGS IN THE NATION (https://www.cornucopia.org/scorecard/eggs/), then you can afford $2! Seriously, times are tough and they might be dealing with more than you are aware of. If $2 means so much that you must leave a lesser review, save it and buy generic eggs that come from overcrowded chicken ranches from your local store. That being said, I took a road trip this past Saturday to see what was open in Julian. I managed to get a pie and then called Eben-Haezer to see if they were open. The lady that answered was very kind, and grateful to know people were calling in interest. It was a nice surprise to see the new shack, since I had been there some time ago. It really is worth the scening road trip, after weeks of being holed up, to get truly fresh eggs from nice, pleasant people. Support small businesses so they can continue to sell to us. read more

First of all, if you are complaining about a $2 surcharge and leaving a negative review, you are not a nice person and are unable to recognize your own privilege. Do everyone a favor an keep your unpleasantness reserved for the grocery store with the rest of them. Besides, this farm probably makes more on their grocery store distribution deal than your entitled little self could ever bring in to their delightful little operation. Just went to Happy Hens / Eben-Haezer for the first time a couple weeks ago. Wow ... best eggs ever! Price is reasonable, I think it was $6 for 18 free-range brown large eggs. I'm not much of an egg eater but my husband said they are amazing and my neighbor says the same. They are also available at the Poway Farmers Market. My review is based on completely arbitrary reasons, but I am an avid believer that if you were going to drive around in a van with your name on it in huge letters maybe you shouldn't act like a complete a-hole. The gentleman who drives this van needs to take a remedial driver's course because he tailgates, drives down the shoulder so he can push his way further through traffic, uses the turn lane as his own VIP passing Lane, and other General non- nice guy Behavior. I have no idea about the quality of their eggs. And I never will on sheer principle because if you are a walking (or driving) advertisement for your company, maybe you should try a little harder about what image you project. read more

Sometime between 3/16/2020 and 3/19/2020 there's a $2 surcharge per item. They don't notify you unless you ask. If your total is higher than expected, that's probably why. The regular prices are still listed at their register. read more

The eggs were really good. We ended up getting the organic, vegetable fed brown eggs. The yolk is a little richer and the whites had a better texture than the eggs purchased at the grocery store. The two young ladies working the counter were very helpful in assisting us and explaining the difference of the eggs. I will definitely come back for more! read more

I love buying my eggs from the happy hens! I used to come here when it was just eggs and no store front. I always buy a flat. Farm fresh eggs beat store bought eggs anytime! The taste is far better. They stay fresh longer. You can keep them out on your counter top. Now, I continue to buy flats. I have tried their elderberry syrup. I don't know if it works or not, yet. read more

Great eggs but they raised their prices during the Covid19 pandemic so I buy my eggs from the grocery store again.

WARNING!! Do not go into the petting zoo! As soon as we walked in, my 6 year old daughter got rammed really hard in the stomach by one of their goats that was running full speed and knocked the food right out of her hand and her into the fence. They were acting as if they hadn't eaten in days. We ended up spending over $500 to get a CT scan at the ER that was recommended by urgent care. The owner did not even offer us a $5 refund. She said her 2 year old her daughter got rammed in the past as if it were a normal thing. In that case, you would think they would give a warning before entering. We've been to many petting zoos in the past and never experienced anything like this. This place should be shut down. I'm filing a report tomorrow with Animal Control and suing these mindless/heartless owners. read more

My husband and I started coming here during the pandemic because it was impossible to get eggs at the grocery store and we also wanted to start making more of an effort to support local small businesses who were getting hit hardest. When we went the first time, Eva was very helpful in explaining the differences between all the eggs they offer. We tried both the brown and white XL fresh eggs and love them! We love the white XL eggs because of how big they are even compared to the XL eggs we would get at the grocery store and they taste much richer. My husband now refuses to eat eggs that aren't fresh and are from grocery stores. The Eben-Haezer family are also long-time locals of Ramona and one of the sweetest families we have met. When we go to get our eggs they are always very friendly and welcoming. I also love watching the free range chickens and dogs run around on the farm. In some of the reviews I read others complaining about a $2 surcharge (I don't know what prices were prior to the pandemic because that is when we started coming here), but anyone who knows economics knows that a price increase makes sense when demand is higher than supply, which it has been recently due to the pandemic. Plus we don't mind paying the extra if it means helping one more small business survive here in CA. read more

My first time here and you know what they say about first impressions. I bought a flat of jumbo eggs. As the guy handed me the eggs I could see one was cracked. I pointed it out and asked him to replace it. He looked slightly irritated and reluctantly replaced it. I got home and found two more cracked eggs. I wonder if they check the eggs at all. I didn't have this issue at Pine Hill egg ranch. I'll go back there from now on. Update: found many more cracked eggs. Out of a flat of 30 eggs, 10 were cracked. I mean full on cracked, not little hairline cracks. The eggs were totally secure on the ride home so nothing happened while driving. If you're buying eggs here I suggest checking them all before you leave. I would never buy eggs here again. read more

There is a range of selections and prices on eggs, from regular white to free range organic. I usually opt just for the free range brown eggs. A flat for these com s out to $11. I just bought a flat of 18 "extra-large" brown eggs for $6.75. Should have looked at them. Got home and saw that there were quite a few smallish eggs in there - mediums and larges. Compared one to a medium egg from grocery store. Same size. Called and was told that the eggs are sold by weight not size and due to some "jumbo's" being in there, that explains the larges. Sounded irritated but offered to give me another flat in exchange. I think I'll pass and buy my eggs elsewhere.
