I took my eldest son on a lunch date, he picked this place and it happened to be the first of the month, and the restaurant was having their monthly special of $7 ramen bowls. Had a wonderful experience trying out EBaes! I was really taken back by their signature ramen dish! It had a unique flavor that reminded me of a Thai curry and the chicken in there was so well cooked. They even have these really cool sushi boats that are great for sharing. The food at Ebaes is pretty good; I had sushi and some of appetizers (and yes, it's full of USC students as some of the other reviews noted). What is NOT good is the service. My guest and I had to wait quite a while for our food, and a party who was seated after us got their food before we did. The servers were not attentive at all and just brushed off our comments when we asked if our dishes were almost ready. When the food came, it was nearly thrown it down in front of us and the attitude was off the charts. I would've been understanding (of course) if they apologized or said anything about the wait. We haven't been here since pre-COVIDa and decided to come here on their Ramen Day (1st of each month) for $7 ramen and it did not disappoint! We ordered 2 Original Ebaes Ramens (one with chicken and one with shrimp) and a spicy tuna on crispy rice. The tomyum-like soup and their ramen noodles are one of the few fusion foods that I think are absolutely fire. The soup was creamy and full of flavor, not too sour either. Mine came with 4 large shrimps and my boyfriend had some chunks of chicken. (We both thought the shrimp tasted better with the broth.) As for the spicy tuna crispy rice, they gave a generous amount of spicy tuna and their rice was nice and crispy. Some places don't fry it enough, but Ebae's did a terrific job. During Covid times, I've been ordering from Ebaes on ChowNow to pick-up. There's a difference between ordering from ChowNow and ordering directly from Ebaes on ChowNow. The ChowNow platform is too simple--it's easy to use, yes, but it lacks other features I like, such as saving past orders on the app--but I hear they don't take a lot out of the business. I order more than I would if I were in the restaurant and try to tip more because it's tough for everyone. The last non-restaurant thing I'll mention is that they have a nice promotion you can see on their social media (you'd have to order from them direct and use the code). Anyhow, I like how they have bento boxes--either seared salmon or spicy tuna. I only tried the salmon. I have ordered the Godzilla Roll, USC Trojan roll, and my housemate tried the ramen he used to get back when we could go to restaurants. I prefer being at the restaurant, but the food is still good. This is the college stop for USC students. My second visit as an adult was still fun and the prices were fair. It's got a long, tightly packed corridor for seating and a walk bisects the restaurant in half. They do $7 ramen Tuesdays which would be worth coming back for, considering the ramen was amazing. Spicy T Ramen: amazing broth, not too thick. The corn in it was a weird edition but the sliced ginger was incredible. I ordered it with rice noodles (gluten free) and they were too thick to pick up with chopsticks but I made it happen because I love using chopsticks. I am still dreaming about this ramen. I come here all of the time. Today is ramen day, and the front desk staff is just rude. Idk who they hire here... customer service should be the main priority tbh. Not seating people in the order they arrived, ignoring guests, etc. I love the ramen at Ebaes, but the service today February 1,2025 is just horrible. This is actually not the first time I've had this experience. There is also a server with tattoos who is rude as hell as well. Please get some better front desk staff better staff in general. We wanted a place to eat around the area and this place had good reviews so we decided to check it out, especially since it says they offer outdoor dining. There were multiple things wrong: 1. There was no outdoor dining. It wasn't even an option; their Yelp page is outdated. 2. The Tonkatsu ramen had no toppings in it, such as egg or seaweed. It only had chashu and some pickled veggies. The broth wasn't aromatic nor flavorful; it tasted a bit watered down. 4. The Tan-Tan ramen was extremely salty where I almost couldn't finish it. It was also spicier than expected even though the menu did not mention that it would be spicy. Friend mentioned their Original Ebae's Ramen was also extremely spicy and couldn't finish her bowl. 5. They tacked on the 18% gratuity for 6+ people for our group of 5, which we didn't notice because we're not supposed to be charged this in the first place, and ended giving an additional tip. This is my go to shop when looking to get my Asian food cravings! They have all sorts of menu items ranging from Japanese to Korean fusion. Appetizers are abundant and plentiful and their ramen choices are all very creative. The interior is long and narrow, but they do a good job with the space they have. The murals are very cute and the decor is also really fun. The ebae ramen has a unique flavor and is more like a Thai or Singaporean curry. It reminded me of Laksa and was a bit too spicy for me. The tan tan ramen was very similar to dan dan noodle and also had a nice kick to it. I asked for less spicy oil and they happily obliged! The Tonkotsu tastes like traditional Japanese pork broth ramen. They didn't change the flavors or added their own twist, so if you're looking for regular ramen, it's definitely the way to go! For those vegetarians out there, they also have a delicious vegetarian ramen! The broth was very flavorful and creamy, and tasted quite similar to the Tonkotsu option that they offer!
