Shoutout to Daniel, he was our server on a Saturday afternoon at around 6:30pm and he made sure to check up on us and that all of our requests were being met. As for the ambiance, it's great. The decor, lighting and the whole restaurant has a great vibe. The food itself was great. It was 3 of us so we ordered the large sushi boat and we also got a nigiri side with an extra set of nigiri (that's why you'll see in the picture 3 of each type of nigiri). Service, food and ambiance were all exceptional. Price is reasonable too.

This was a great time! From the music and the ambience. It felt very on theme since it's a hidden gem. This was so fun! The service was meh, but the food was incredible. I highly recommend the katsu, the sushi, and the Korean iced coffee! The iced coffee was delicious and strong. They have a variety of sushi and ramen selections. I cannot wait to come back!! For 3 people and a fun time totally worth the $75 price. The parking was good especially infront of the shop.

2 Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen & 1 Tonkotsu Ramen

- Ordered the spicy tonkotsu & spicy edamame Spice difference between the spicy and original tonkotsu is UNIMAGINABLE. I can handle spice but it felt like I accidentally got the Diablo ramen. I had to make sure I got the correct one with the waiter but she dips her fries in the Diablo sauce so clearly I asked the worst person in the restaurant. This meal actually made me physically sick before I even left the restaurant. I eat out a lot and I've never experienced this type of reaction. I started to burn up on the way home & immediately threw up once I did. Edamame wasn't spicy at all. Idk how that was labeled as spicy in comparison to the ramen. Wouldn't order again, not well seasoned. I came on $8 ramen night (thank god because this wasn't worth the regular price). The wait was 1.5 hours when arriving at 8:30pm for 3. They are really nice about the waitlist tho, as long as your name is on the list they will seat you even if it's past ten. The service was pretty much nonexistent. They brought out our food & check and that was about the only time we were paid attention to even when we were constantly looking around for someone to help us. They did comp one item because the food took so long which was really nice (well past last call & to the point where the workers were cleaning up and chit chatting with one another). The guy working as a host was definitely over the whole night. It was busy to be fair but he chose to clock in so atleast act correct. Overall, no I would not eat here outside of $8 ramen days & only if I were desperate.

This place used to be my go-to spot for food after a long day at school, but today was a complete disappointment. I found a piece of hair in my ramen, twice! Additionally, the portion of the chicken karage was smaller than usual. The hair is my last straw, and I'll never be coming back here again.

This restaurant feels like a fever dream. The decor is all over the place. I do love the mural on the wall which consists of a large dragon with a nose ring looking over a village consisting of disney characters (Mike Wazowski, R2D2, timon and pumba. etc) and exactly one (1) Hello Kitty. My friend and I stopped here because it says they're theme is "hello kitty decor" and we were immediately sold. But walking in, it has more of a: leftover dorm-room decor vibe. There's nothing wrong with that, just not really what we expected. The food is definitely good! My friend and I have ordered a korean BBQ rice bowl and I've finished it each time. We also ordered the goyza and cream cheese filled crisp puffs. The chili sauce that is served with them is very good! Service is good but when they are busy it can get held up, which is understandable. The thing I like most about this place is their deals, they advertise free ramen or rice bowl for your birthday or game day deals. This place is very unique and definitely has it's own vibe. I highly recommend you check out their bathroom for an interesting wallpaper surprise.

The atmosphere here is fantastic -- it's a small, cozy spot with dim house lights and a warm glow from accent lighting. Very inviting and comfortable inside. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Honestly, some of the best ramen l've ever had. The Diablo Ramen is actually spicy, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, I'm giving 2 stars because of the service and how the restaurant operates. We arrived at 8:30 PM and weren't able to place our order until about 8:50 PM. Not long after, our server informed us they were doing a "last call for food" because it was slow. What made it even more uncomfortable was that after we received our food, several staff members sat at a table by the kitchen, clearly waiting for us to finish eating so they could close and leave. It made us feel rushed and awkward, which completely ruined the experience - especially since we were meeting up with a friend we hadn't seen in years and were hoping to spend a relaxed evening catching up. By cutting the kitchen early and making guests feel like they're inconveniencing the staff, it not only takes away from the customer experience, but also costs the restaurant potential sales and a higher tip for the server. It came off as poor management and left a very disappointing impression, particularly for a first-time visit I was really excited about. The food alone would absolutely bring me back - but only if the restaurant handles slow nights differently in the future.

Been here a few times, and the first time I came here I loved their sushi rolls and takoyaki! I came again recently and thought it felt short based on their Chicken Bowl and Karaage. They were a bit bland and tasted cheap. I feel like these items aren't for me personally. I had their Rainbow roll and their rice and the rice was a bit hard. The fish quality was decent but just didn't hit. I don't think I would die to come back here again. Although im not a huge fan, the vibes are good for dates or catching up with friends. They also have a variety of flavored soju and beer.

We parked a few blocks away and walked over. The place was small and packed! The inside was fun with all its art on the wall. The girls restroom was funny with its Zac Efron and Channing Tatum wall. I got the Original Ebaes ramen with chicken. I wouldn't say it was anything impressive. The chicken was pretty dry which brought the dish down.

Delicious everything was amazing! Great customer service. Food was delicious. Will be coming back soon. Staff were attentive and friendly.

[[DL] TONKOTSU RAMEN, Thai Tea, Iced Green Tea
Penelope

Arrived at around 7:45pm on a Saturday night for a party of 2 and was immediately seated at the bar with the restaurant being almost full. Ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen, Thai Tea, and Iced Green Tea. The noodles in the ramen were a bit overcooked and chewy to my liking. However, the broth, meat, and overall dish was tasty. Everything was fairly priced and I would certainly come back again! Our waiter was very attentive to our needs and our orders came out at a timely manner. Parking was fairly easy to find and the restaurant was pretty clean and well put together.

Tan tan noodles, chicken karaage, french fries and Ebaes original ramen
Lynn V.

Very cozy and interesting place. Upon opening the wooden door, I was surprised by the decor and mirrors definitely made it look bigger than it actually was. We opted to sit on the right bar like table side. Guess we were there during happy hour so ordered off that and it was pretty great. The Ebaes original ramen is a flavor I've never had before and my hubby loved it, we even took the broth home so we can enjoy it more with our own noodles/rice. The tan tan was ok, very peanuty and kind of dry. Chicken karaage looked small but it was very crunchy and super tasty with the sweet and sour sauce. Truffle fries were good. I also ordered a peach iced tea and they just add the syrup which is at the bottom so be sure to stir well. Service was pretty quick at first but then it seemed they got busy and was taking a bit to get the check to pay but it was still very attentive and nice. Definitely would recommend if you're in the area since it's so unique!

Ebaes is an awesome low key ramen spot next USC. There is not tons of seating but it's aesthetically pleasing and has great service. The specials are good she they offer discounts to first responders. The Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious. A good amount of spice and the noodles were delicious and decent chunk of the. I would recommend it. The Spicy California Rolls were also delicious the spicy sauce on top was great. Highly recommend this place 4/5

All the workers answered my questions and even as the dinner rush came in, I never felt like I was pressured to hurry up. Huge kudos to them for this. There are lots of places to get ramen in Little Tokyo and I have my go to places, but now that so many other ramen places are popping up in the 626, the daunting task of driving to DTLA and finding parking have also factored into my decision to wander out. But as a J-fashion and anime fan, I'm just constantly thrown back into the Little Tokyo vortex. For this recent visit, I remember my friend hyping up the Anaheim Rakkan Ramen, so I thought why not? Came a bit later into the dinner rush, around 6-something PM and was seated immediately as a solo diner on a Friday night. It started to get a bit busier around the time I was finishing up. Seating is a bit tight inside with a couple of tables, counter bar seating, but they do have outdoors seating as well. Food came out efficiently and super piping hot. For my dinner, I got the: 1) Coffee Jelly: -One of my favorite, comforting Japanese desserts. If a bakery has it, I'll order it, and I felt a bit indulgent so I ordered it then. Staff asked if I wanted to have it at the end or just have it come out ASAP. I said ASAP and it was a good palate cleanser between the savory and sweet so I didn't get tired of the flavor. Not a super huge amount of coffee jelly (but makes sense since this is a restaurant and not a to go ordering counter at a bakery), but it was silky and had a good coffee flavor to it. You get a small "shot" of heavy cream milk to mix in and you can control how sweet you want it. Not bad. 2) Ramen Sushi Combo (Spicy Quartz Ramen + Aburi Salmon): -This comes with any signature ramen and any 2 pieces of sushi (extra fee for any upgrades) -I got their spicy quartz ramen, which is their creamy miso broth ramen made with your choice of chicken or pork chashu (I got pork), crispy fried garlic, seasoned egg, fried broccolini, and 2 pieces of nori. -There's LOTS of crispy fried garlic pieces in it. Every bite has a slight garlic after taste and it's nice to add a bit of crunchy texture to the ramen. -The broccolini is unique, I don't think I've ever had that with a ramen before and it's nice to have some greens too. - It's a seasoned egg, not a soft boiled egg, so don't expect that. It's not hard boiled all the way, but the flavor wasn't super strong for the egg. Not bad, but not the best. -The noodles are thicker egg noodles that had a nice chew and texture to it. However, the broth flavor wasn't that strong to me? If that makes sense. You get a good taste of creamy miso and a very slight kick, but I felt like the 2 small pieces of chashu and noodles didn't really take the flavor of the broth that well. Maybe I should have left my bowl of ramen soaking longer to get a better taste profile? Who knows. 3) Aburi Salmon (2 pieces): -I chose this with my combo and it doesn't incur an extra free. It's a seared salmon with mayo on top. -Not bad. Can never go wrong with aburi salmon. It's comparable to what you can get from Kura. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or maybe my taste buds have been blasted by ramen spots with heavier, flavor intensive broths like Tenkaippin and Nagi. I don't mind going if someone else invites me and hopefully it's a better experience.

I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. There was not anyone at the restaurant at the time, but people did start trickling in as more time elapsed. We got our food relatively quickly as well. FOOD: I ordered the spicy pork tsukemen ($23.45), which is their dipping noodle. The noodles are thicker than standard ramen, but in a good way! It comes with thick chashu (thick, fatty pork) slices and soft boiled eggs. If you haven't had tsukemen before, you essentially dip your noodles into the broth and then eat it that way. The broth is extremely flavorful and there are also pieces of chashu in it as well. The only critique that I have regarding this is the broth was lukewarm which made the dish taste slightly off. I've tried this dish at another branch and the broth was also lukewarm there, so I'm not sure if this is a location issue or a standard amongst all branches. Also, this dish does not really have any vegetables in this, but I also don't know if traditional tsukemen has veggies included. SERVICE: Service was quick and everyone was nice and doing their job. Didn't seem like the staff was slacking or messing around while there weren't many customers. They were very attentive to us, refilling our water immediately once they saw it was getting low, and being very attentive towards if we had any other concerns or if we needed anything else. PARKING: There technically is street parking but since it's in Little Tokyo, it's going to be very difficult to find it. There's $4-6 valet parking available nearby the location. There are a lot of people walking around though so just be safe. INTERIOR: It's not too big of a place but it's also not too small as well. It looks very well kept and clean. BATHROOM: Two gender neutral bathroom stalls that are both very clean and accessible. No issues here with them. TLDR: Overall, I thought the place was pretty good to eat at! I would definitely come back for the tsukemen (as long as the broth is warmed up until it's hot). A very good dish combined with great music (they have some great Japanese music variety) is definitely a spot worth coming to with friends !! :))
