When I was younger I would only ever eat like three things, which drove my parents to despair. So once they found another type of food I liked (no matter how unhealthy it might have been) they made sure that once a week we'd get it! My Granny used to live in the Turf Lodge area of West Belfast, so whenever we would visit, we'd make the trip to Aldo's for our tea. The shop itself is pleasant, its tiled interior is always clean and the glass always perfect. The food is always fried to perfection and even though the pallet of baby Conor has grown significantly from the good old days, Aldo's fish is still the best.

Surrounded by its…read moreless than tasteful counterparts, Hong Kong Night offers delicious food at good prices and this makes it hard to beat if your in the mood for a good chow mein or crispy shredded duck. What I like about this place is that they do the basics right - they cook their food with care and attention, give you well portioned meals and use good ingredients to make it worth your money. Well worth a try if your getting fed up of fish and chips or cant be bothered cooking for yourself!

I have never had something delivered and called for a refund immediately after putting it on my plate but tonight I did. The price has gone up but portions are smaller. The chicken looked like rubber. Onions were raw and there were no mushrooms (you used to get onion mushroom peas). It looked like they dragged the bottom of the chip pan with the hard dry ends. One of only a few in Ireland ER's is already proving to be a big hit on the Lisburn Road. Yesterday when I paid a visit it was absolutely jam packed. But the pin striped, attentive staff managed to deal with the hoards of burger lover admirably. The whole restaurant follows the USA diner theme, red tiles, bold brash posters with American slogans and red leather booths. Right down to even the tiniest details this place is perfect - they have mini duke boxes (50's style) where you can pay 20p for your choice of song. Right on to the important bit, the food. The menu is full of tempting delights but I went for the Smokestack burger upon a recommendation. I have to say I was not disappointed! The Burger bun was soft and fluffy, the burger was meaty and the extras combination were sublime. The best part of the burger was definitely the 'secret' sauce - sort of like a vinegary mayo. I'm underselling it with that description. Burgers will set you back £6.45 but they are not small and you certainly won't be hungry after eating them. I loved Eddie Rocket's - the only tiny thing I would mention is that it took a while for us to get our food which made us rush eating it. I will put this down to how busy it was. The place certainly isn't understaffed. Top marks from me - there's so much on the menu to sample that I will have to make a trip back soon!

When you enter Eddies you can see that it is just like stepping into a real American diner and a great touch is that there is a juke box at every table. The food is great also. This is at heart a burger joint and they do it well. I had a smokestake burger and it was delicious. Applewood cheese, onion rings and secret sauce allll gooooood!!! I loved the food so much that I went back for seconds the next day and I can davey say that I will be back again.

The staff here were incredibly accommodating for my family, as we have an allergy kid in the ranks, who is anaphylactic to eggs and nuts, and has a few other "minor" allergies. They allowed my sister to order food for her son, and wait for my son and I before putting hers, my brothers and my mums order in with the kitchen so we could all eat together as I was running late. They couldn't have done enough for us, and Noelle kept checking that our little man was the only one among us with an allergy. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience, and will be back - not least of all because the manager bestowed upon us an amazing random act of kindness, which, considering we had just come in for lunch before visiting our dad at the Royal, this meant the entire world to us. Now, I know what you're thinking, "this guy must phone them twice a week and that's why they know his order", but no. I only ever phoned them five or six times a year, and when my number came up they'd confirm my address to me. One time I ordered the same thing as I had the previous time, bar one item I'd excluded, and they asked me if I needed curry noodles as well. Either they have a Savant answering the phone who works every hour the place is open, or they have some type of recognition system. I'm inclined to believe it is the latter.

Secondly (which arguably could be seen as an part of point 1) is portion size. Anytime I have ordered here, I always have more than enough to enjoy. Probably does me no favours that I chose portion size as my second point. Anyway, some might say that one portion is enough for two people. Not me though. Great! Now I sound greedy! Let's just move on... Third and lastly is quality and taste. Despite my earlier point that cost was very reasonable, this is not sacrificed in the food being produced. Made in an open plan kitchen (which you can see if you bother to pick up your order instead of having it delivered) the food is prepared in a clean environment and scores 5 out of 5 for cleanliness from the local council.
