Stars - A Hidden Gem That Warms the Heart and the Tummy!…read more Oh, where do I even start with Lucy's Ethiopian Restaurant ? I stumbled upon this cozy little spot and it turned out to be delicious. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted like an old friend, who has this infectious smile that could melt butter. The staff here isn't "friendly", they're the kind of warm, genuine folks who make you feel like family crashing a Sunday dinner. Now, the food... chef's kiss times infinity, it was Divine. I keep my choice very simple 1/2 veggie and 1/2 meat combo In and it was delicious!!! Prices are fair and service was quick. If you're craving food that's not just excellent but soul-satisfying, and service that restores your faith in humanity, run (don't walk) to Lucys Ethiopian Food. Every time I come to Las Vegas, I'll be sure to come. I can't wait to bring the whole family next time!

Delicious food, lovely staff and convenient location…read more I haven't had Ethiopian food in a while, so instead of choosing one dish, I opted for the half meat/ half veggie platter. The portion is huge so be prepared to share and still have leftovers to take home. My favorites were the beef with onions and meat in green sauce. For veggies, I loved the greens and steamed spinach. Simple and clean to enjoy between the other flavors on the plate. I do wish the yellow and green lentils had more spices/ seasoning since they were a little bland. Overall a great platter though. The lentil samosa is also delish!

As an Africa-born person, I was pleasantly surprised at the precision of Ethiopian spices in the Berbere and the preparation of the collard greens. It was really a trip back to Mama Afrika. We ordered the Lamb Gursha and it did not disappoint. Hours later, I'm dreaming of that thick, luscious, viscous gravy, tingling on my palate. SO INCREDIBLY GOOD. The teff-flour injera was soft, spongy and melted in the mouth. The gomen (collard greens): served hot in a stone bowl was perfectly seasoned and not overcooked (I detest overcooked collards). Now to the lamb: it was melt in your mouth, fall off the bone tender. It was encased in the rich, viscous berbere "gravy". Oh my! They had incense burning, an Ethiopian show on TV with spiritual music. This is an absolute gem of a place. Exceptional service. SPOTLESS restroom, gleaming kitchen. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

Washed down with a large Pilsner. Everything was delicious! There was a great variety of veg- some cold, and some warm. All very well seasoned. It was a very colorful and textured platter which I appreciated. The lamb was just spicy enough and the collard greens with beef chunks was amazing / very tender and flavorful. The owners son explained everything and had great recommendations for what to order and how to reheat any leftovers. We came back the next day for an early dinner around 5:00 and brought our husbands who enjoyed it as much as we did! Definitely a keeper of you enjoy great Ethiopian food!

We did not research the restaurant enough before going. It turns out that they serve their very special 12 dish Vegetarian food only on Wednesday and Fridays. That was what we were looking forward to having. Other days the serving are primarily meet (Lamb and Beef) with injera. No realy selection of veggies other than a salad. The staff did their best to put something together for us and were really helpful. We'll have to come back someday to try their Veggie dishes on a Wednesday or Friday.

The owner of the cafe was very accommodating and made wonderful conversation. Traditionally, Ethiopian coffee takes a good while before it's prepared and ready to drink, and that's true here. This is because the coffee beans are roasted fresh, ground, then slowly boiled in a traditional black clay pot to extract all the flavors. Back in Ethiopia this gives time for family and friends to socialize and enjoy each other's company as the coffee is getting ready. If you're in a rush then this isn't what you're looking for, but if you have some free time and want to hang out this is perfect. Be warned, Ethiopian coffee is STRONG. If you're sensitive to caffeine and really want to try some I suggest eating something here (they have a lot of different snacks and Ethiopian food) first and then having some traditional coffee so the caffeine is released into your system slower.

Axum Palace was the first to show up on my restaurant feed, so I placed an order for two veggie dishes. What showed up on my doorstep was two full trays of these Ethiopian legume mashes, packed tight with extra injera bread. Yesssss! I got the mildest spice options for both dishes when ordering online. 1. Lentil: Savory red lentils stewed in garlic, onions, and berbere. 2. Alicha Kik: Split beans cooked with olive oil, onions, garlic, ginger, and turmeric. Both dishes were fantastic, with the lentil having more overall flavor and spices than Alicha Kik. The legume mashes, and the injera bread, are vegetarian, healthy, and gluten-free! I loved my order from Axum Palace and have absolutely no complaints. I'm going to be ordering from them again too!
