For people who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, know that he helped train my wife throughout her pregnancy and afterwards. Without a doubt, he is the reason that my wife was able to follow her own birth plan-the doctor was skeptical that she would be able to deliver without a C-section given the size of our baby and because she had spent 2 days in labor before beginning to push. But Jason had helped prepare her-both her core and her stamina-and she was able to deliver our kid safely in under 2 hours. The doctor called her the 'best pusher' she's ever seen-and that is because of Jason. In other words, he is perfect. It has completely changed the way I train for the better! Working with Jason has really levelled up my understanding of how to train for functional performance, strength and mobility that will serve me in the long-run - how to move better, breathwork and recovery, integrating mobility, and the mind & body connection. I'm sure anyone who has trained with Jason will know that he is always learning, experimenting, and exploring new methods in his own training, and he will often share new insights and techniques with his clients. He draws a lot from his own practice and reflection, and I think that's why he has a really good grasp of how certain movement patterns work with your body, and where the gaps are. Not to mention I don't know what I would've done without his guidance when I strained my hip through running. He prescribed several drills that not only resolved the pain very quickly, but I've now come out of it with better body mechanics and alignment. The difference is how sustainable this feels. A couple of pro tips from my experience: 1. Reuse what worked for you in the past. If you've ever successfully lost weight with a particular diet plan, bring it back. The GLP-1 takes the "white knuckling" out of dieting and makes it much easier to eat the way you were supposed to anyway -lean protein, vegetables, simple meals. 2. Slow and steady truly works. Be happy with one pound a week--or even maintaining during harder weeks. My entire 55-lb loss happened over 52 weeks. Consistency beats intensity. 3. Side effects were minor. I had a few small headaches and one or two nights of poor sleep after the weekly injection. Occasionally unhealthy food made me feel off, but that was rare and honestly a helpful deterrent. With healthy eating (which the medication makes far easier), it wasn't a problem. I meal-planned for about 10 months, and now I just naturally eat that way. Being at a normal, healthy weight again is worth every minor bump along the way. I have also encouraged 4 of my friends to do this as well and they are all having similar success. Something that stood out that I was not expecting was... during our first meeting she requested a list of various restaurants I frequent and gave me a bunch of options at each that supported my health goals.     I met Alene at the beginning of 2018 after going through a pretty rough medical condition that…read moreweakened my body, made me lose a scary amount of weight in a short amount of time and overall burnt me out pretty badly. I needed professional help to rebuild myself in a way that would help my body recover fast and well. I'm also a very athletic person, putting in over 15h of intense physical activity every week (Surf, Yoga) and was eager to get back to peak performance quickly. When my friends ask me whether seeing a nutritionist works for me and if I'm seeing the benefits from it, I say "Absolutely!" of course, but to explain to them why Alene's approach has been working for me, I tell them that Alene has brought structure, meaning and a lot more science to the way I eat, which helps me understand what to eat, when and in which quantities depending on the types of activities I do. I now understand the toolset (food) at my disposal much better. Alene has helped me adapt my diet not just through that medical condition, but also through two nasty bone fractures and a head injury, and brought small tweaks to my diet to help my body recover faster. In nearly 8 months, I'm in the best shape I've ever been. For my demanding surfing activity, she's been instrumental in helping me stay in the water longer and push myself harder by concocting a fueling plan for me that to this days has been allowing me to remain at peak performance for sessions that can be as long as 4h30-5h in tough ocean conditions. At the same time, a healthy lifestyle does not mean I am deprived of a lot of my favorite things: I still drink a glass of wine at dinner, I still drink beer moderately, I still drink cocktails at parties, I snack on some gummy bears often, I eat bread. None of these things are forbidden as long as they're done in moderation and are balanced with regular, consistent levels of physical activity. Last but not least, Alene uses an app to manage her clients, and she's super available to respond whenever you have a question. In my experience, she responds as fast as within minutes to a few hours. It's been a real convenience when in doubt about something you're about to eat and whether it is suited or not for a particular situation.
