Painting with a Twist - Had an amazing time with the girls!

I booked this "Northern Lights" paint night as a gift for a friend, and we both had a blast!…read more Ellie, the resident artist of the evening, was personable and a great teacher. It was an intimate evening as there were only two other people booked, so it was like a private painting lesson. Our canvasses were set up with paint brushes and paint set out for us prior to arrival. They offer beer, wine, canned cocktails, water and soda, and don't allow outside beverages. There was only wine by the bottle so we ended up splitting a bottle with the other two attendees. I've attended a few other paint nights elsewhere in the past, and this night lived up to my expectations. I would definitely revisit Painting with a Twist in Chatsworth!

At the bar there is options to buy nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages. We opted to get the Cherry Blossom Pinot bottle to share for our table, and I must say it was a very delightful wine that tasted perfect and light to sip on while we painted. Our painting was a lion, and I must say until almost half way through I just didn't think my painting of a lion was going to look like a lion, but we trusted the process and we followed instructions which were very easy to follow step by step, and in the end we all had lions! It's so funny that despite that we all follow the same instructions, our lions all were different sizes and looks haha! Our Instructor Ellie was so upbeat and friendly and helpful! My favorite part of the night was when we had started painting in the neon yellow color, when suddenly Ellie turned off the lights! Our paintings were glowing!!!!! Such a fun surprise the whole room did a collective "Oh my gosh!" at the same time LOL. This was definitely a fun experience that I would love to attend again! I recommend the Painting with a Twist as a nice fun night out with friends, Solo, or even on a date! Next thing you know, you'll have a whole wall of paintings!

Martina was so…read moreaccommodating & easy to work with, the kids had a great time, & the experience left all of us (the kids & many of the parents) wanting to try our hand at even more crafts. We opted to have the kids do Wool Painting, which was tons of fun, but walking around the My Creative Outlet store & the "craftiness" building/party room (a few doors down), we were able to see various other craft ideas that would be fun to explore at some point. Even many of their room decorations are handmade! If you haven't checked out My Creative Outlet, I highly recommend you do. Whether you buy an item from their store, take a class, host a party, or simply browse their store, the creative possibilities they offer are endless! Below are some pictures of the Wool Paintings the girls did at our party. We did Stitch theme, so Martina had the kids do a Stitch inspired Wool Painting. Unfortunately, between crafting, chatting, & cake, they ran out of time. Martina (& Jenny) were so sweet & actually sent each of the kids home with the necessary materials to finish it on their own.

The studio has a really wonderful, creative energy that I looked forward to every week. It served as a great 'sensory reset' and a way to focus purely on the tactile experience of the clay. Particularly seeing other members body of work. My only minor wish for the future would be a bit more shelf space for student projects! As I got more into the flow of creating, I found myself wishing there was more room to store work-in-progress pieces between sessions. Each purchase of a course provides access to membership hours where you can come in practice before the classes. They provide the base tools in a black case and if you need more clay it's $25. That being said, the quality of instruction and the community more than make up for it. I'm so happy with the projects I made and I'd definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a new creative outlet! As a note there's a waiting list to become a member after completing the course. So don't hesitate!
