Easy Hours, one of the more recent additions to Brighton's late-night corner shop scene, is a surprisingly good attempt at bridging the corner shop and the small minimart to create a 24 hour basics shop: incredibly useful, close to the centre of town, and on my way home from nearly everywhere!
As corner-shops and off-licences go, Easy Hours is a big step up from any of the others in the area. With an extensive selection of convenience foods over a relatively large shop floor, Easy Hours doesn't feel as busy or squished-in as corner shops often do, meaning there is plenty of space to move around and queue; this is especially good when it's quite busy in the early hours of the evening.
Most corner shops that are also off-licences don't really stock anything too spectacular: beer, cheap spirits, that sort of thing. While Easy Hours has those, it's beer selection is much more impressive, and there is a suitably large wine selection too. All of this makes Easy Hours the perfect place to start an evening, or stop off on the way to a party for last minute 'refreshments'.
Being so easily accessible, and generally trying to be as open and airy as possible, combined with the impressive selection of booze and snacks, makes Easy Hours one of the better places to pop into on the way to somewhere. The chance of them having what you're looking for is just so much higher. read more
