Most of the time, convenience stores or corner shops are just a quick means to an end, but The Wine Lodge actually offers a fairly pleasant shopping experience. The friendly staff are more than willing to lend a word of guidance when selecting wine, and it avoids any air of snobbery while still remaining helpful.
For those not looking for a bottle of the good stuff, there's still the standard selection of beers, and the prices of your other corner shop items are (in my experience) a decent shade lower than I've been used to in many other such places. I'm almost sad to admit how good this place is, with its clean clear layout and decent size, as the shop next door is often run by exceptionally friendly old lady who is more than happy to chat pleasantly with you.
