You choose what color to paint the wood, then go thru a several step process until voila, you have a beautiful decorative wood plank for your home or as a gift. They had a team of ladies come to our event to help with instructions and color recommendations if you needed them - super nice & helpful. Definitely allot two hours for this kind of event. I…read morewasn't really sure what to expect as I've never done an AR workshop, but it was pretty fun! I It was a Friday night and there was one other party there as well. I like that it was more private and intimate. Honestly it was like the other group wasn't even there which I liked. They had workers who helped them on their projects while we had some for our table who helped us. I can't remember the girl who was helping us, but she was good at helping me pick out the kind of wood and colors I wanted for my project because I wasn't sure. I didn't even know we'd be doing diy stuff like sanding our wood and nailing things together. I thought that was pretty neat and different. The staff was very welcoming to our party and helpful. They made sure we all were able to get the steps done that we needed. They showed us how to use the air gun which I thought was cool. I like how they showed us examples of other projects around the shop to get ideas from. You're also allowed to bring your own food and wine, which is similar to the sip and paints. Our party brought along some snacks and wine and it was just a great wind down time to get away from work and start off an enjoyable weekend I definitely will go back because I saw some other stuff I'd love to make!

A hot mess! The start date for class was postponed two weeks later the day BEFORE the original…read morestart date because of a "family emergency". Two weeks later we're told we have a new instructor just for the second day another family emergency occurs with her which isn't her fault. However the following day everyone is waiting outside the locked doors 15 minutes after class was supposed to start because no one's there! No lights, doors locked, no one was answering our calls, no emails or a heads up, nothing! Our class of 25 dropped to 8 that following week because the lack of unprofessionalism and communication was absurd. The one saving grace out of this school was our instructor Miss Terri. She went above and beyond making sure we weren't behind on our course due to the inconveniences that occurred that disrupted our learning days. She was patient, understanding, and lit up the classroom with her lively energy. If it wasn't for her I think the course would've been postponed again for god knows how long until they found another teacher on short notice, she saved my time and made sticking through the struggles worth it. I couldn't be more grateful but besides that I would not recommend. The lack of communication was terrible from the people in charge and even though Google reviews has a high rating (god knows how) I recommend going somewhere else for these kind of certifications. Yes it might cost a bit more but trust no low price is worth the headache and uncertainty.

For being a place for creative oulets, you'd think they'd pick a more creative name than....The Art…read morePlace. But honestly I don't blame them. I think this place has been around since forever, right behind the Mountain View Library. They offer painting, sketching, clay, theatre, and music classes; I tend to find that it's more theatrics than actual drawing classes offered. I've stayed away from acting and music, but they have productions and dinner&shows every season for the public to go to, at $5-$15 per show. The classes are great- but it really depends on your class, really. I've only taken painting, portraiture, and clay, and clay was the worst of them all. Enjoyable? Yes. Would I do it again? No. I don't even remember the instructor's name. My only quip is that for each class, the fees never seem to end. Registration (late or early), actual class fees, baking fees, and oh, the -supplies-! The supplies list never ends, I swear. For pencil portraiture, I thought you bring a pencil and eraser, and a pad. False, it's like 20 different types of pencils, graphite, special erasers left and right, specially bound pads, tissue paper, paper stubs, special ink pens and tips, and oh my god, these things cost a fortune! I just want to draw! Ahem, anyway, the painting guy was ok, but the star of the show is Kip Rogers- after all these years (it's been like 10), I still remember how well he taught his classes and I want to go back, even if this place is about a solid 45 minute drive from where I live now. His class is 95 for first timers and 70 for returners. At that price, it's a freaking steal! (Well, at least for that class....) The Art Place is a special place to me- back when I still drew all over the place, I had been able to be part of some of the shows there, and I appreciated that. You could always walk in and see art from the locals. After all these years, the many of the artists teaching there are still there. Now on to convincing the boyfriend to take these classes with me....

Crossroads Christian Academy has been our school of choice for our children for the past 5 years. We have sent 3 of our 4 children there starting them at 12 weeks and finishing through preK. The school is very attentive to children's needs, student to teacher ratio is always maintained and the communication with parents is exceptional. The director is always present and does an excellent job working with parents who have children with additional needs or strong will!
