Instead, I was stalled for over an hour and ultimately denied, despite providing full documentation: bank statements, ADP paystubs, and valid ID. Meanwhile, other customers -- all of whom appeared to be of the same racial background as the staff -- were served quickly, with minimal questions. Here's the part that makes the situation undeniable: my assistant, who is Puerto Rican and darker-skinned, visited the same Amscot location earlier this week. She was approved in under 10 minutes for the same kind of advance. We work at the same company -- but she earns less than half of what I do. No additional paperwork was required. No stalling. No strange looks. Just fast approval. The only meaningful difference between us was appearance. This isn't speculation. It's a side-by-side comparison of two people, same employer, vastly different income levels, and dramatically different treatment.
