Extremely deceptive consumer experience and documented service negligence at the Knoxville…read morelocation. I paid for a hardware computer retrofit (hardware 2.5 to 3.0) for Full Self Driving (FSD) on August 10th, 2026. During the installation, service employees told me my 12v battery needed to be changed in order for the hardware change to continue. The battery was just changed three months prior, but I told them to go ahead and change the battery so I could get the hardware installed. After the installation, I didn't have the ability to subscribe to FSD. After speaking with service staff, they said that I will receive an OTA (over the air) update to the car within 48 hours and then I would be able to subscribe. Also, that the car would need to be driven approximately 100 miles for the cameras to calibrate. I live in Virginia about 100 miles away (this is the nearest service center to me). So, I drove home to allow the car to calibrate the cameras and to download the OTA update. After driving home, and waiting the 48 hours, I never received an OTA update. I messaged Knoxville on the app again and they said they would look into it. This was on a Friday, so I waited until Monday to see if anything was figured out about why I wasn't receiving the update for the car. They had closed my service ticket, so I had to open a new one in the app in order to communicate with them. I eventually received a response from the Knoxville branch, and I was then hit with a surprise, unitemized $1,000 software fee to get FSD, even though I was not informed I would have to pay this. I was told by staff both before and after the hardware installation, that the only thing I had to do to get FSD was a hardware upgrade. When I escalated the issue, the Knoxville branch ghosted me. Eleven days after the hardware installation, I received a notification in both the app and the car's touchscreen that my 12v battery was degraded and that it will not receive any OTA updates until the battery was changed. I informed the Knoxville branch of this in the app, and they attempted to double-charge me over $200 for a replacement 12V battery I had already paid for. After intensive pushback, a mobile technician was finally sent out and confirmed in writing that Knoxville's physical labor actually broke my vehicle's driving safety computer (DAS ECU) and camera calibration matrix. Later, on 09/01/2026, the service manager called me and engaged in textbook gaslighting. They explicitly tried to rewrite history by claiming I was verbally informed of a hidden $1,000 software fee at the shop, even though absolutely nothing is itemized or disclosed on my written invoices. They are actively refusing to provide a $0.00 hardware remedy and a loaner vehicle to fix the physical damage their own technicians caused. Active consumer protection files are moving forward with the Tennessee Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. A Federal Trade Commission complaint has been filed as well. Avoid this service center at all costs!

I've had mine since 2018 and even after 100k miles, I've never needed brakes. Also, EVs generally need less maintenance (no oil changes, less moving parts). The main issue is professionalism. This is like walking into a pretentious coffee shop run by stuck up hipsters. Instead of being attentive and communicating well, they tell you very little. So, what might seem like a short repair could end up with them spending hours without telling you. Overall: they get the job done. But, it's not a fun place to go. Needs improvement.

His level of customer service is exactly what you hope for when purchasing a vehicle, and we would highly recommend working with him. Unfortunately, our experience took a significant turn for the worse once we entered the finance office. Despite clearly and repeatedly stating that we were not interested in any extended warranties or additional products, Christopher Blais continued these options in an aggressive and unprofessional manner. His approach felt more like pressure than customer service, and the interaction became increasingly confrontational and uncomfortable. What should have been a smooth and positive closing process quickly became one of the most frustrating and unpleasant car-buying experiences we have ever had. The level of pressure applied in the finance office was excessive and inappropriate, and especially after our repeated refusals. If it were not for David's efforts, we would have walked away from the deal entirely and taken our business elsewhere. While we strongly recommend David Householder, we cannot recommend the overall experience due to the conduct we encountered in finance. Management should take this feedback seriously, as it significantly detracts from the dealership's reputation.

From the time i entered my service advisor Teresa was so helpful and nice. She went to check the part and a mechanic Josh came on board to do the service. It was right at lunch break and Josh graciously said he would cut lunch short and get to work on my vehicle. He said it about a three hour job and i said well it gotta get done and they both could see the anxiety on me as they knew traveling. So i walked down the street got lunch and returned an hour later. 45 minutes after i returned Teresa came and got me and said it was done. I asked how did it get done so fast, she said Josh grabbed another mechanic and they worked on it to get it done and get me back on the road. I can say enough good things about Teresa and Josh!! Top notch people that have hearts of gold.

I had dealt with Rice once before on a bad computer chip, on a car I bought from the Chevy dealer above. I took it to Rice Buick-GMC and they fixed the problem, gave me a loaner car, and verified that the problem was a warranty issue with no charge. A mechanic that I use to service my cars (they don't do transmission) told me the best place (in his opinion) to take my van. The repair cost me $4500.00! Then it was time to take my truck in because I wanted to sell it, because since retirement I rarely drove it. But a friend told me about Mr Cool transmission repair (He loved their service and value) so I figured I'd give them a shot, as I felt the transmission shop I took my van to ripped me off. Long story there. So I figured since both cars had the same issue (stuck in second gear) that I'd be paying around the same amount on my truck repair. Then several days after I took it in, they called and I closed my eyes thinking another big bill. The receptionist said "your trucks ready, the total is $350.00 plus tax." I about fell on the floor. They did a great job, and the price was right! I only wish I'd taken my van to Mr Cool. If you have transmission issues, check out Mr Cool. They're VERY cool.

It didn't totally close, thus not allowing the Cat o get up to temperature quickly enough. I replaced for $25 and 45 minutes, easy. Check-engine light disappeared. But obviously the code locked in. And also they said I needed a full replacement transmission. Which I don't deny may be required. , sorta. I am 71 years old, done professional car work since 17. The ONLY reason I am not doing this myself is age. But that said, before I would tear down anything I would already know what component is bad. A valve, cam sensor, etc. My symptoms are of a valve-body stuck valve, causing the clutch(s) to not fully engage. Thus I wanted a more concise explanation for why I should give them $5,000 - $6,000 to replace the entire Xmission. I really should have had a talk with the trained mechanic that could go into depth about the detailed reason it is giving me problems. But I got the worker at the register explaining the estimate to me. I have 100% confidence she has ZERO true mechanical knowledge/training past what to say. She should have called the Tech to talk to me. Had that happened I would have set an appointment to have it replaced. But given the weak thermostat ($330) ghost diag, I had zero confidence about the rest of their work. Reminds me of "give a kid a hammer and everything looks like a nail".

I had purchased my 2022 Trailblazer from them back in 2022 and had a pleasant buying experience at that time. I've been to the service department many times for oil changes and routine maintenance, and for the most part I've also had good experiences. But recently the check engine light had come on and so I first took it to my regular mechanic to have it diagnosed. He said the code was indicating the water pump was likely going to need to be replaced, and that this was a big job and an expensive job, and he said it's still under the drivetrain warranty. So his recommendation was to bring it back to the Chevy dealer, which is what I did. I made an appointment and dropped the car off and was assigned a service advisor named Kane. I had a pleasant conversation with Kane when I dropped off the car and let him know that I wasn't in a rush to get the car back but I would like him to keep me updated on it. A week later, I had not heard anything and so I texted the number that Kane sent to me to ask for a status. I didn't get a response, so a couple days later I called the number and asked to speak with Kane. I was transferred to his line and left a detailed message on his voice mail including my call back number. I got no call back, so after a week I called again and explained the situation to another advisor. He said he wasn't sure why Kane wasn't responding, but that he'd route me to Kane right away. Unfortunately, that transfer again went to Kane's voicemail, and I left yet another message for him that went unanswered. The next day was now September 16, which was more than 2 weeks since I dropped the car at the dealer. I called the switchboard operator and explained that I am having an issue with an employee named Kane and I needed to speak with his manager. I was put on hold for several minutes, and was surprised when Kane answered the call. I told him who I was and reminded him that I have left a few messages for him regarding my car. He immediately went into a rude, and even belligerent status, and started telling me that he texted me a week earlier to pick up my car (which was not true) and that I needed to get there and pay the 200 dollars and take the car. I told him that I received no phone call and no text from him and asked him what was done to justify the $200 expense. He said that was the diagnostic fee, no issues were found and they turned off the check engine light. I feel it is unacceptable to charge 200 dollars to simply turn off the light and I'm certain this issue will resurface again; most likely after the warranty period expires. Kane then very rudely reiterated for me to pick up my car, pay the bill and then promptly hung up on me. Wow, that is not the type of service I ever want to experience again. Not ever, not from any company. I contemplated refusing to pay that bill, but it's probably not worth 200 dollars to immerse myself into additional unwanted drama. I will never be back to Beaty Chevrolet for any reason. Not to purchase a car, and definitely not for service. The fact that the manager didn't want to hear from me and routed my call back to the service advisor is also unacceptable. If a company has an employee that behaves that way, a leader of the company has to deal with those situations. It's not fun to hear from clients that are unhappy, and it's not fun reprimanding employees that are not meeting the company standards, but it has to be done. I will share this experience with as many review sites that I can.
