Wequassett has been for many years among the best properties I go to in the US (or internationally…read morefor that matter). Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.

In Sweet Pea, the house Cleaning people were a little bit weird but they did keep things immaculate in the space. And Mother Goose there seem to be never ending problems with the house so we often had somebody fixing the air conditioner. Somebody fixing the upstairs toilet and somebody fixing whatever else was not working around the place. It didn't feel great to have maintenance people around as you're getting your hair and makeup done for a wedding. Did not feel chill bridal time at all. They speak very highly of their food, but they didn't have anything off of their menu that really impressed me. I tried the fresh cod, scallops, apple dessert, and Wagyu steak. Brandon and Angel are a total headache to deal with. We requested to have the gym open early for the day of my cousins wedding. Angel said yes to having the gym opened at 4:45am in the morning before the wedding. I was there waiting -Didn't happen. This pushed back my whole schedule on the wedding day. We asked to pay for the Mother Goose house as a wedding gift to the bride and groom - also didn't happen. I had to discuss the issue with Brandon. No discount no offers of any kind- mind you 3 nights is about 10K. Not cool at all. The wedding planner also seemed to have no idea what was going on with decisions, when speeches were going to be and where to set up the podium for the efficient. The main staff you speak with don't really seem to care and frankly just aren't the type of service you look for in a luxury resort . I'm an extensive traveler and would strongly recommend not to revisit this place. We also got coffee at Sill and couldn't find any place to sit down to drink our coffee and have a pastry. We even asked the host where we could sit and it was outside on wet chairs or in the lobby. The dining room was totally empty and asked if we could sit there and was denied. Also there isn't enough parking for guests. The working driving around on golf carts talking on their cell phones also felt a little scary. The Wequassett staff made a bad atmosphere for the guests paying a lot of money. It felt very unfair between the gym not being open on time to the disorganization of the wedding timeline to getting the bills confused.

In interest of full disclosure I don't play golf, and I didn't play golf here…read more In fact I didn't even see this place in full daylight. I was there at night for dinner for an interview. I had no idea that this place was some fancy place until people started talking about it. First off those that claim it's the oldest country club in America are flat out wrong. There are country clubs that outdate it by nearly a century. 1882 isn't even that old considering it's Boston. My buddy lives in a building older than that right now. Anyway this review isn't about how old or first or not first this was as a country club and golf course. It's more of a plea that just because you are a member here, it's not a good idea to host an interview dinner here. The reason is because it's a bad venue to hold an event like that. The facilities are old and decrepit feeling. It smells old too, and not in a good way. The waiters look like they are part time kids from high school (actually they better be, or they are definitely breaking some child labor laws). The food had small portions and it was not good (probably because it was prepared by the fore-mentioned children). I think it primary reason why people host events here is because they are trying to impress others by showing off that their are part of this exclusive club. However those attempts will likely backfire if you have to explain what a big deal this place is to people that don't care in the first place. You are far better off booking a nice restaurant instead.

Visiting The Country Club to compete in the GNCC Men's Club Curling National Playdowns was…read moreintimidating both on the competition front and the fact that it was held at a country club. Not exactly the environment that I'm used to but in the end they were hospitable and the tournament went relatively smoothly. Despite the relative stuffiness of the club, all of the hosts left us to our games and did not interfere. The bar system was a bit convoluted since we had to purchase tickets and then buy drinks with those instead of just buying straight up. I understand that is a regulation since we weren't members but it was still a bit annoying. The other main aspect that was under the club's control was the curling facility. On a positive side, the ice and the facility were very clean and well maintained. The warm room was well appointed and comfortable both on ice level and in the viewing room above. The Country Club had fantastic cameras and screens on both sides of every sheet giving a clear view of the other side of the ice to the people on the ice and watching the games in the warm room. The ice team did a pretty good job overall but on a couple occasions the pebbling fell apart more than usual toward the end of our games. They were 10 end games with a 9 minute practice session but you expect a little better quality. Thursday night the ice fell off after the 5th end and was completely different than in the earlier part of the game which was confusing to both teams. Overall it was a great experience and I would be happy to play at The Country Club again.

The views are very pretty, except for the construction taking place right next store and the line of golf carts blocking the walkway in view during the ceremony. The bar did not have food but sandwiches could be purchased downstairs for a reasonable price. The wedding was delayed and some confusion took place amongst the guest and wedding party on the details. This lead to the grandparents missing the ceremony. The ceremony was short and straight to the point. Appetizers were waiting for guest upon entering the building and quite delicious. They also had some walking appetizers. This lead to high expectations for the dinner. After introductions and dancing, dinner was served. The salad was soggy and the soup was not hot, the rolls came out after the salad and soup. Everyone was served at the table and I was last. When asked what I ordered, I was told they had no more left. That the kids at the table should have gotten chicken fingers(we requested vegetarian meals for them). I had to wait for food to be prepared while those around me ate. What they served wasn't very good - creamy pasta with mushrooms (I requested the vegetarian option). Cake and coffee was served in the lobby. Pizza and meatballs was placed there as well towards the end of the night. I was not the one getting married, just a guest. But from the looks of the place and reading some of the cost, I would have been slightly disappointed in the coordinator and the lack of courtesy of the staff. I tried not to get the constructions in my photos.
