Great experience! My son loved it, and I would certainly recommend the 1:1 lesson. The beach was a neat place, and I felt totally comfortable with Anthony in the water with my son. My momma heart did not feel any

Ant and Loni were very professional and fun. Kids had a blast. The wife and I had a blast. We all had plenty of runs for waves.

Was referred to Eastside surfing school through a friend. Cassidy offered private surfing lessons at a relatively inexpensive price he was attentive to our needs, respectful, fun to be around, and a good surfing instructor. First Cassidy met us in our hotels lobby the morning of our big surf. We followed him up the coast to rock quarry beach. He brought boards and rash guards for our lesson. He was polite carried our gear and had us on the beach practicing out surfing in no time. The lesson was private and was a much better price than we had been quoted at a couple of shops. He spent close to two hours with us talking us through each wave what we did right and what we could improve on. I felt like a less private lesson with a bigger group would have been disastrous for us! He told us from the beginning his goal was for us to catch as many waves as possible he worked hard with a smile to keep to his word. As a first time surfer I was proud of me and my wife (for the one person on yelp -other than my mom-who follows me yes she's the wife now) for getting up and surfing as long as we did Cassidy hooting and rooting for us made it that much more fun! Thanks Cassidy and Eastside Surfing School for a great experience!

Enter Esiah, our awesome instructor. He went through all the basics for us very green beginners, and emphasized the importance of looking straight ahead (and hula hands, which are now a family staple as we describe to people how to surf). The four of us went out in the water with Esiah, and we ALL FOUR caught waves, even me (who was definitely least likely). Esiah was awesome: complimentary, enthusiastic, and giving us feedback as my wife and I kept coming back to fall off again. Thanks to his awesome teaching, timing, and patience we had a blast, and my wife and I ended the day taking waves all the way to shore where we promptly had our boards run into our shins. Awesome memory, and we look forward to going out again.

We had Essyia (no idea how to spell his name) as the instructor for our boys. He was very patient and basic with the instruction for the boys. He made sure they understood the dry land training before going to the water. He helped each one of them ride a few waves. The younger two definitely got worn out pretty quickly. It was our first day there and our lessons started at noon so there could have been a couple of factors for them wearing down. But, I have to say, the youngest one has a Gtube so we were a little worried about him trying this. He did great! Nothing slows that kid down...well maybe an hour of surfing slows him down some. Very thankful for these guys helping our boys have this experience ! ‍

And honestly, I'm really glad we landed on this place. They offered us the best deal we found: $30 per paddleboard, no pressure, no weird upselling. Everything was explained clearly, calmly, and with patience. The boards were in good condition, nothing sketchy. They helped us load everything onto the car and made sure it was secured properly, which sounds small, but after a long day -- that matters. The whole experience felt easy. No rush, no attitude, no "tourist trap" vibe. Just people who know what they're doing and treat you with respect. After that, we had an amazing time out on the river. Peaceful water, beautiful views -- exactly what we came for. Four hours flew by without even noticing. If I'm back on the island, I won't even think twice. I'll come straight here. $30 for 4 hours, solid boards, good people, zero stress. That's all I need. Highly recommend.

Best place in Hanalei to rent a paddle board or a surfboard. We checked several other spots first,…read moreand everywhere else either had much higher prices or a bunch of restrictions and hidden fees (like charging $100 just to put a board on your car roof). None of that here. They have very reasonable prices, good-quality boards, and the staff helps you choose the right size board and paddle. We paid only $30 per person for a half-day SUP rental and $25 for a full day surfboard rental, which is a great deal for this area. One thing I'd recommend though - double-check that the staff actually secures the rope when they strap the boards to your car. The employee didn't want our help, but a few minutes into the drive the boards started coming loose. Luckily, we had a Jeep Wrangler with an open roof, so we were able to hold them. Turned out the ropes weren't even properly tied, just kinda thrown on. Hopefully this was just a one-off, especially since they do keep your card on file in case anything happens to the boards. Overall though best prices and conditions in town. Definately recommend!

We thought we would get small beach chairs. Nope, we got nice lounge chairs! The umbrella was a must as it will rain on and off. Also, it provides nice shade. Beach Boys catamaran sunset cruise…read more I arrived to the Nawiliwili Bay & Hulei'a River cruise boat slip to join the other passengers on a sunset cruise. This particular day, for whatever the reason, didn't have too many passengers. It made for a better cruise experience, in my opinion. After the normal safety briefing, we set off on the Kalapaki Kai II (smooth sailing gorgeous catamaran!) with the captain narrating the entire evening. While this was not a dinner cruise, we did enjoy a full service bar with light snacks during the evening. In my opinion, the cruise seemed uneventful and not very entertaining, but I am not necessarily interested in history, which is mainly what the captain spoke about during the cruise. He did a thorough job speaking about the Kauai scenery, fish ponds, mangrove trees, Haupu mountain range, Kalapaki Beach, the lighthouse, golf-course and Kauai's still-standing original hotel! We even watched numerous people surfing in the Nawiliwili Bay.... Can't say I'll see that anywhere else except Hawaii! The sunset was not anything to speak of the night of my cruise... but that is clearly out of our control! While I had a ho-hum evening... I will still highly recommend this sunset cruise! It was an incredibly smooth sail.... Short & sweet -- started at 5:30p and ended just as the sun set!
