It was so bad that I finally decided to switch provider, despite deeply trusting Dr. Smith-MacDonald's care. When I requested my records to be transferred, which patients are legally entitled to receive under HIPPA law, there was no response from Melissa. After 11 days of waiting, I had to threaten filing a complaint with the Washington State Board of Dentistry just to get them released. It's so disappointing that such a high level of clinical care is undermined by such poor administrative support.

In general, I think they are good dental providers, but I had an unpleasant encounter with them several months ago that made me question their ethics. At my last appointment, I went to see Laurie, the hygienist in the Mercer Island office for a semi-annual scaling, which she has been doing for over 10 years. We had no problems other than I found her to be cold. Not a problem for me. Instead of cleaning, she did a surprise examination. She scheduled a 4-hour appointment over a 2-day period which resulted in her booking me for an invasive and painful $8,000 procedure. I told her I would have to postpone the appointment because I was not physically capable of enduring a difficult procedure because I had just returned from a month's long hospital stay. I needed some time to recover from that quite traumatic event. I called the office to schedule my routine scaling because she didn't do it at the last appointment. The receptionist said Laurie would not do the routine procedure until I had the surgery. Laurie refused to continue my care because I had postponed the very invasive surgery she recommended. From then on, she would not take my calls and blocked my emails. They just cancelled our relationship with no explanation. I was an ideal patient, always showed up on time, did all the homecare recommended and paid my bill on the spot. No one in the office in management would talk with me. I find this treatment so unkind and unprofessional. My late husband was an outstanding physician for 50 years and my son also had a long-standing medical practice. This kind of treatment would never have happened in their fine offices. On several occasions I asked for an explanation with no response, even though I said I was not seeking reimbursement. Simply a courtesy call from Laurie or their Management. I consider this treatment very out of line and worth warning other patients their focus might be more about making money than providing service.

Very impressed with the whole entire process. 1- front desk that answered my call was quick, efficient, and pleasant. They offered me next day appointment but due to work I had to schedule it for Saturday. Love that they're available 6 days a week. 2- process as a new patient went smoothly too, I was sent a link to fill out and upload my information so when I went to check in, it only took a few minutes. 3- the dental assistant that helped Dr. Im was amazing and I loved her. She was so nice and gentle with me knowing how nervous I was. She kept on checking on me to make sure I was ok and that I was comfortable. 4- lastly Dr. Im, he gave me the breakdown of what he saw in my X-rays and had a game plan set to help me take better care of my teeth. Every time he would do something he would explain it to me so that I know what is happening next. I don't like to be numb and can't stand any needles but even with that he made it as painless as he was able to. I appreciate all the care from start to finish. I definitely will be coming back with my family and have already recommended him to a few of my friends and their family.

In a few words, I had a phenomenal experience at Spektor Dental from start to finish!…read more I recently visited Spektor Dental as a new patient, and I had a wonderful experience there. The office itself is very large and spacious, but it's the incredible staff that truly makes the difference. From the moment my two young girls (ages 4 and almost 6) and I arrived, we were welcomed with warm greetings from Britt Ann, the Front Desk Manager. The team instantly made my girls comfortable, which is key for any parent, especially at a dental office. If my girls are comfortable, than I am comfortable! Dr. Go was our dentist. Once we were in the exam room, Dr. Go and a couple assistants came in to help and chat/help with the girls. ALl of them were fantastic at explaining everything clearly to me, but also explaining what they would do to my girls and built a good foundation of trust from the get go. My kids weren't scared or nervous at all. They probably didn't even realize they were at the dentist! The following day, I came back to get my dental cleaning (it's that time of year for all of us to get our teeth checked). And again, the level of care was nothing short of exceptional. Many staff members went out of their way to stop in and say hello, even if I wasn't their specific patient. Dr. Go was my dentist as well. And to no surprise, she was very patient with me, and explained every step of the process to me very clearly, and outlined what areas I should focus on brushing on better at home. I felt completely at ease throughout my entire visit. If I had to say there was one thing the office could work on, I would suggest having better signage out on the main room as it was hard to find the entry off of the street my first time getting there (the office is in the back of an office complex). But once inside, the 'going to the dentist' experience far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Spektor Dental, and Dr. Go!

I didn't have any work done, just a consultation. At first he seemed like a lovely man... But then…read morehe sat next to me, so close that he sat on the hem of my skirt when I was reclined in the exam chair. Then he compared my gums (gums in general) to pantyhose. They have the control top which is strong, and then unravel fast from there. It was all a little weird... But not so weird that I didn't trust him with my gums! I'm sure he's an excellent doctor, I just went elsewhere based on price. The consultation cost over $100 which my insurance didn't cover. I was quoted a price, based on my insurance, but weeks later I got a letter saying it was almost $500 more than the already expensive procedure. After searching around, there are lots of well-rated periodontists that offer free consultations and less expensive procedures. The staff were all very nice and helpful.
