Since my last review, this practice has been sold to Advanced Hearing Center and I was most concerned about what I might find.....or even to continue a relationship. I AM THRILLED TO HAVE CONTINUED and I have found my new "Audio-Angel", Dr. Jessi Figlewicz. Having been once again greeted by "the rock of the practice", Cynthia, I met...and was treated by....Dr. Figlewicz. She is a delight. Dr. Figlewicz clearly cares about her patients. She is a great listener (as an Audiologist should be) and carefully explains everything one should know about their condition.....and hearing needs. My grandfather has been seeing an audiologist for the last 5 years and has had trouble calibrating his hearing aids. Our family decided to make a change and visit Eastside Audiology this past year. Dr. Finkelstein and her team are caring, competent and always put the customer first. We ran 30 minutes late to our appointment, yet they were able to see us in a timely fashion. The front desk is a smooth operation! Also, the office is very clean! The attention to detail and level of care my grandfather received was top-notch! Dr. Finkelstein and her team were very thorough and have excellent bedside manner. Admittedly, my grandfather is not the best patient however Dr. Finkelstein was very patient answering all of my grandfather's questions and made him feel comfortable. After my grandfather's diagnosis was updated, Dr. Finkelstein did a recalibration on his hearing aids. His hearing has never been better! Our family can now dine at loud restaurants - Hallelujah! Also, the York peppermint patties in the waiting room are a nice touch! read more

Dr. Ellen Finkelstein has seen my grandmother for years, fitting her for hearing aids and greatly improving the quality of her life in her 70s and 80s. Before seeing Dr. Finkelstein, my grandmother was resistant to wearing hearing aids and felt uncomfortable with the idea. Through her caring approach to dealing with patients, Dr. Finkelstein was not only able to make my grandmother comfortable with hearing aids, but also happy with her choice to do so. Since then, my grandmother has been more communicative, both in person and on the phone. She is able to hear so much more clearly and converse with friends and family. Taking my grandmother to see Dr. Finkelstein was a great decision for our family. I'm so happy with the attention Dr. Finkelstein gave my grandmother and her needs, and the continued help she has given her throughout the years. Seeing that level of care, especially with elderly patients, is incredibly comfortable and reassuring. Additionally, the office is clean, organized, and well run. I have always been able to get an appointment and been treated with kindness by Dr. Finkelstein's office staff. You don't see this in doctor's offices anymore! I think it was total waist of our time and money that we chose to go to her. My father in law went to her for months and none of his problems were solved, he had to go to her over and over again with no results. I finally convinced him to go to another audiologist and after only two visits he got results. The most time she spend in the room, was to fill out information for insurance purposes. I wish she had used her profession to help patients and not to use it for her own benefits. I blame myself to have trust in her!!! read more

I never expected to write a rave Yelp review for an audiologist. But Dr. Finkelstein deserves a few minutes of my time. She's that special. She clearly has passion for her work, is a true expert in her field, shows great attention to detail, listens well, and has a personality that made feel like she was an old friend from the moment I met her. Not only did I have to spend very few minutes in the waiting room, but Dr Finkelstein devoted substantial time and care during my visit, and I never once felt that she was rushing through the appointment in any way, shape or form. In this very difficult "Covid time", Dr. Stephanie Natelson at Eastside Audiology has stepped up. She is the consummate, customer-centric professional. She is dedicated to her craft. She shows up. She cares. She is capable. She is compassionate. There has never been an unreturned phone call or a question that wasn't answered in complete truth, with the patient's interest first. I was having trouble hearing so I decided to go see Dr. Finkelstein. She saw me right away and was able to quickly determine exactly what my issue was. She then referred me to a great ENT who also treated me right away. When I saw the ENT, she was already aware of my issue from Dr. Finkelstein. My first visit to Dr. Ellen Finkelstein was 30 years ago for a hearing test. As a musician, Ellen consulted me on the issues of gradual hearing loss due to high volumes of live music performance. As the technology has significantly improved over the many years she has been my Audiologist, she has provided me with the latest in hearing protection as well as professional counsel which has kept my hearing intact. I highly recommend Dr. Ellen Finkelstein. We took my 3 year old son to her who was complaining he had trouble hearing. She was able to quickly and accurately diagnose the fact that he had fluid in one of his ears. After explaining the options for treatment, she referred us to a great ENT and called personally to get us a quick appointment. I saw a full-page ad for Eastside Audiology in a magazine for union musicians. It mentioned helping patients with hearing loss and hearing problems and seemed very professional. I called and inquired about an appointment. I told the woman I spoke to that I recently had noticed hearing loss and noise (tinnitus) in my left ear. I asked if the practice helped patients with this (as the ad indicated it did). I was told that yes, they could help me. When I got to the location of Eastside Audiology, I discovered that it's not a large, thriving practice. Rather, it is housed on a cramped floor that it shares with an acupuncture practice. Their reception appears to be in an old closet, which has enough room for one person, provided the patient stands in the hallway. The doctor I had an appointment with turned out to be a doctor of audiology, not a medical doctor. She gave me a thorough hearing test, at which point she told me what I already knew -- that I had hearing loss in my left ear. She suggested I make an appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor to see if they could find out more about what caused the hearing loss and determine what might be done about it. At this point, it felt like I'd spent time, my money and my insurance company's money to be told what I already knew. I asked why I wasn't told when I originally called that very little if anything can be done for tinnitus and that I'd most likely be told to see an ENT. The answer from Dr. Ellen Finklestein was, "I don't work that way." I took that to mean that she would not be able to get as much traffic through her office if she was completely honest with patients and explained what her practice could and could not actually do for them. This is one very unprofessional practice that to me seemed more of a medical scammer than a provider of services. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews. Usually, I only write a review when service has been poor or, as in this case, Outstanding. I have been a patient of Dr. Finkelstein for over 15 years, and not only has she always been professional, but she has also been a great friend. A few years ago, my hearing started to deteriorate rapidly. After failing a hearing exam in her office, I broke down hysterical crying. She held my hand and let me cry for 30 minutes. She was extremely compassionate, kind and gentle. Not too many doctors have those qualities but I'm so fortunate that she does. It turned out that I needed a cochlear implant and although she would probably lose me as a hearing aid patient, she referred me to NYU and helped facilitate the process of having me examined and schedule my surgery. Over the years, she has kept in touch with "just-checking-on you" emails and I have continued to visit her office every now and then for my other ear that still uses a hearing aid. I have referred her to many friends and family members, including my husband. I highly recommend Eastside Audiology and encourage anyone with hearing issues to visit their cozy office. You won't be disappointed with the level of personalized care you'll receive. read more

I am an actor and voice-over artist and I have been a patient of Dr. Ellen Finkelstein for over 15 years. In my work I am often called upon to do what is called a "Voice-Match". A voice-match is needed when a film is finished and the star is unavailable to come in and clean up, re-record, or replace some of his dialogue. They hire me to come in and listen to the scene, and then exactly match the voice I'm hearing with new dialogue. It requires the sharpest ears possible. Suffice to say given the severity of my hearing loss, without hearing aids and Dr. Finkelstein's invaluable assistance, my career would be over. When I first came to Dr. Ellen Finkelstein I lived in Manhattan, although my work required me to relocate to Los Angeles 13 years ago. I have still continued to return to her for all my hearing needs. It is not only Dr. Finkelstein's skill as an audiologist, her thoroughness, and ability to clearly and simply explain what's going on with my hearing that has kept me coming back these many years, but also her knowledge of the latest technologies and her relationship with the manufacturers of the hearing instruments she recommends. The equipment in her office is state-of-the-art, and Ellen is aware of the most advanced technologies usually before they are released. Any time I've had a problem, or needed an adjustment or repair, Dr. Finkelstein was able to get what I needed as quickly as possible. She's always patient, a pleasure to work with, and I come in for a check up whenever I'm in NYC. I have entrusted family members and friends to Dr. Finkelstein's care knowing they were in the best hands. Ellen Finklestein is fabulous. She takes care of me and my 91 year old Dad. I have one sided deafness due to a brain tumor. I can't localize sound (tell where sound is coming from) and I can't recognize speech when there is background noise; it's all gibberish). She has helped me a lot. I can't say enough nice things about her and her staff. Wonderful knowledgeable woman. I highly recommend her as the best. read more
