The eastfield is the best / only pub for a good half mile radius.
The pub itself is set just off the street and it's quite an imposing, large victorian building, with a green house / botanical garden on the far left. The inside is big as well split into three main areas, the bar area, the restaurant area and the green house.
The bar area hs a bit of an outdated decor but is fairly traditional. There's a couple of fruit machines, quiz machine, juke box and pool table in here. There's also toilets in here which in keeping with the decor of the rest of the pub are outdated and not especially nice.
The restaurant area is just that with tables and chairs set out in restaurant style but it's very much still a pub. You can also order drinks and food in here but the bar is tiny. There's more toilets (again not great) and it leads to the green house and the garden.
The green house is as mentioned more of a botanical garden with plants all over the place and is very impressive. It can get quite humid in here though.
Finally there's the garden which is humungious and great for kids. There's a couple of goats in a pen and a big pond with coy carp. The goats are very popular with children. The rest of the garden is a little overgown but there's enough table / chairs and space for atleast 100 people + a game of football.
The drink selection is reasonable but not amazing. There should be enough to keep most people satsified. The same can be said for the food, the selection is traditional pub fayre with the sunday roast being the highpoint (a good size, lots of meat, efficient service). The puddings that follow are extravagent with black forest gateux and toffie pudding being two of a bunch i could mention.
This is really family orientated and caters well for people of all ages. They have started doing more competitions and events in the evenings, poker and karaoke have been suggested but I don't know if these are regulars.
As pubs go this is an all rounder and a bit unusual given the wildlife. If you want a pub to take the family (young an old) to you'll be hard pushed to find a better one in all of Bristol. read more
