I took an original canvas artwork that I wanted to be stretched to Frameworks though, and was not too impressed. It took them around a month to complete and the stretching job was so poor I took it to a different framer for a second opinion and had to have it re-stretched again. They charged me over $400 for the job, twice what I paid to have it redone properly and the canvas was wrapped so far round the back of the (poorly sized) stretcher bars that I lost over an inch of my painting round each edge. I suspect that they do not perform much of this type of work, I would have preferred to be informed that they were not too experienced so i could have avoided paying $400 to have my picture stretched poorly in the first place!

For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. Do yourself a favor and visit this gallery - oh, and of course, don't forget, they also do excellent framing!!
