This place is absolutely huge and it's a pretty fun treat to walk-through. There are easily…read morethousands of crystals and minerals like all around and on display. But that's the key, on display. Probably 80% of all of the crystals that are for sale are behind lock and key - very unusual for a rock shop. The place feels a lot more like a museum that it does a rock shop. With everything under lock and key not only do I not feel unwelcome and as if the owner can't trust anybody, but I can't look at any pieces from different angles, see how much they weigh, or even compare them to nearby pieces. It feels like a Walgreens where I have to call an associate over every single time I want to get some soap or something. It puts a huge damper on the experience. They try to make the place immersive with some mining decorations and this little dinosaur pit, but I find them absolutely annoying. One section of the shop constantly has this high-pitched sound of someone using a pickaxe against the stone wall on speaker. It's cool, a little immersive at first, but I found myself getting a headache after about five minutes. There's another section of the store that I've never really visited, because I have to cover my ears when I walk through there. They have the loudest, and I mean, the absolutely loudest, most shrill sounding bird sounds playing from their prehistoric dinosaur section you could possibly imagine. You can hear it from across the store. My noise canceling headphones don't cut it. They are crazy loud, and they've been that same exact volume the previous three times I had visited. The only crystals that are not under lock and key are ones that are incredibly common or artificial; think, Jasper, tumbled glass, and obsidian. A good majority of the pieces under lock and key are actually quartzes, agates, and other silicates. There honestly isn't a lot of diversity here. I think they can do a lot better since they are boasting they are Michigan's largest rock shop. TL; DR: it's a nice place, but I don't think the owner can decide if they want this place to be a museum or a rock shop.

As an avid scrapbooker for many years, I'm always on the lookout for stores that carry a wide…read moreselection of product to choose from. I found this place while doing a search of stores in the Ohio and Michigan area, and put it on my list of places to visit once the weather wasn't so bad during the winter. I finally made it out yesterday, and let me tell you, this place rocks! It's located in Delton, which is west of Lansing and sort of in the middle of nowhere. Once I got here though, I was blown away by the selection of product, size of the location and how well organized this place is. Each isle is labeled about what's there so you can easily find what you need. They literally have everything! Probably the biggest and best store that I've found since leaving Arizona. They have scrapping weekends here that are hosted and non hosted. The prices vary, so please check the website or call them directly. I do know that they have "day crops" periodically for $20, where you show up and crop for 10 or 12 hours. Because it's a small town, there's limited food options, so research before heading out here. My only complaint is that there isn't any hotels nearby, so unless you want to stay far away and drive, this is the only downside. Plus, because there's a lot of driving on back roads with limited wifi and lighting, I couldn't imagine driving here in the dark for fear of hitting an animal or missing a turn. For the "hidden secret" weekends, they do have onsite sleeping arrangements, but I don't know if you can do it as a single person or go with a friend. Some of the pricing seemed to be geared more towards groups of 9 to 12 people. I'm sure they'd be willing to accommodate you if it's just you and a friend, but don't quote me on that. They do online ordering here, but I personally prefer to shop in person first so I can get a layout of the product. Staff here's friendly, helpful and generally knowledgeable. If you're headed out this way stop by!

We heard them clearly because there is no A/C in the building. Thankfully it was not an extremely humid weekend. The room was large and had abundant cabinets. The volunteers who were there when we arrived were kind and polite, gave us a tour of the entire house, but there was no host present, nor anyone else through the stay that we could address a concern. Yet there were random people on the grounds that we could not tell what their presence meant. So security is basically none existent, not that it would be necessary but there was nothing between us and the outside world but our room door lock.

Last time I went in there was a husband and wife, Luke was the husband, seemed to be decent, his wife on the other hand was a know it all who knows absolutely nothing. Definitely not customer service friendly. The selection has been absolute crap the last year and a half. It's been the same stuff at obscene prices. There's a lady who sits behind the counter who's also quite rude to the customers as well. She's always sitting in her chair.
