My…read morehusband dialed 911 and I landed in the emergency room at Saint Alphonsus on a Saturday evening. Surgery to place hardware was recommended for the very next morning. I have nothing but praise for all the medical professionals I encountered from the day I was admitted to the day of my release. Everyone was kind, compassionate and eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible. A lot of firsts for me this trip - first ever ambulance ride, first fracture (aside from breaking a toe), first surgery and first hospital stay. I met the surgical team Sunday morning. My surgeon explained what was going to be done while the anesthesiologist and nurses ensured I was calm and knew what to expect next. Surgery went well and next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery. Shortly after I was moved back to my room. My room was comfortable. The nurses on the floor were just wonderful and attended to any needs I had. Even the food was good - plenty of choices. My only complaint is I felt ill prepared when it came time for discharge. My surgeon was not on duty at the time and the doctor that came by could not answer questions specific to my injury. She promised to call my surgeon, even said he was always quite responsive, and come back with answers to my questions. I never saw her again. I was not made aware that I would not be leaving with crutches (no weight bearing on my leg for 10 weeks) so my husband was left scrambling for a walker/crutches from a nearby medical supply store close to their closing time so I could get around once I got home. My physical therapy session before release left much to be desired. No instruction how to actually use crutches. I was basically wheeled to a room, handed crutches and got a very quick tutorial on how to climb stairs which I was not able to do. The younger woman on the therapy team seemed eager to help, but I found the older woman with her quite condescending. I went back to my room with a sense of despair. Thank goodness my husband is an old pro with crutches! Again I want to reiterate my overall experience was quite good. My doctors and nurses were among the best. I hope to never visit an ER again, but if I must I hope my experience is as favorable as this one!

Slamming doors, huffing and puffing, and making rude cowhile caring for patients was also extremely unprofessional and added to an already stressful situation. I felt unheard and unsafe in a place were I am supposed to receive help. It took 4 1/2 hours to be seen by the doctor, whom spoke with us for less than 5 minutes. Patients in a maternity setting should feel safe, respected, and taken seriously. Unfortunately, I did not feel that way during my experience. do not recommend this place!

So, it was nice to have a 5 minute drive to my appointment since this office is down the road from me. The receptionist here is so nice! The downtown location should take a couple lessons from the Eagle location. The receptionist smiled at me. She was kind asking me my general check in questions. She had personality. These basic skills are lacked in 90% of the people who work in registration downtown. If I can have all my appointments here, I would. I hung out in the waiting area till it was my turn. Zach, the imaging tech called me back to the scanning room. He went through the process of the scan with me and guided on how my properly lay on the scan machine. He had me position my legs differently for a couple scans. And before I knew it, I was done. It was quite an easy process which was nice. My other appointments require getting poked at. The Eagle office is night and day compared to Downtown. They are so nice here. It's a smaller facility with an Urgent Care unit which is nice for non emergency visits. It bums me out that I have to deal with the rude receptionists and security check in staff when I'm Downtown. But it was nice to see how the other half are treated at this location. I will have to get more appointments fulfilled here. I leave happy which is nice.

The doctor told us he would rather us come to this facility rather than the one down the street. His reason was "I don't feel like driving to that facility". I was at a loss for words but agreed anyways. The person checking us in seemed very distracted and annoyed we where bothering her. After that we waited 20 minutes after our scheduled appointment. You would say it's because they are probably busy, well the problem with that is we are the only ones in the waiting room. After they brought us back to the exam room we waited another 20 minutes . I've had two consults before where the doctors pretty much said "here's what you need" and then just expected me to do it without questions, research and serious consideration. Dr. Bridges is the opposite. She flat-out said high risk, gave me real numbers on complication rates, discussed options even if it wasn't in her wheelhouse and referred me to someone who specializes in an option I want to explore. No detectable ego which makes her more credible in my eyes. I'm well aware weight is always a factor in surgeries and since my colon resection and the unexpected consequence of the high carb post op diet, I'm all too aware of my current size. i don't sugar coat it. She doesn't sugar coat it. Need to keep this stuff real. She wasn't rude, just matter of fact. I really appreciate that. Quick digression: She told me that because I would be face-down during surgery and I've got a bigger belly than usual, that pushes all the blood up towards the spine and can make me bleed more. I hadn't even thought about that. Only airway and anesthesia. Makes sense but I never even thought of it. So, I left with an X-ray order for both hips since my recent trip to the ER it's unclear if I had severe hip pain because there's something wrong with my hip or if it's an extension of the spine problem. (duh, wonder why ER didn't do that?) Also got referral to a doctor who specializes in an option that I researched to see if it's even viable for my injury AND a referral to Salt Lake because they have more advanced equipment to handle how complicated this is and I might need to go out of town. If I have to go to Salt Lake, I wish Dr. Bridges could go too and make sure some jackass doesn't get stupid on me. I have pretty much had my fill of doctors and trust is hard to come by.

They did get my bloodwork and EKG going pretty fast. I was, however, sent back out to the waiting between the x-ray, ct-scan, and they gave me a hydration bag the waiting room. The doctor ignored my needs. I was malnourished and he wasn't going to call for hydration even knowing I desperately needed it. I had to ask the nurse. They did an xray on my back after I consistently told them my stomach was hurting as well. The main doctor was not going to order the CT scan. I had to ask for it. They found nothing on the xray, but (suprise suprise) they found pneumonia with the CT. The doctor didn't even touch me to check my abdomen. He didn't listen, was dismissive and unfeeling. If I had not begged for the CT he would have sent me away with pneumonia. ​The went haywire for over 30 mins and no one cared. A man feel in lobby and it took minutes for medical help to get there, my husband and another woman had to help the man up. They don't care about you and you will most likely be misdiagnosed. They need to do better. Never going back.​

Each time I make an appointment -- especially when scheduling in person -- I'm asked to explain the reason for my visit aloud in a public setting. It's uncomfortable discussing personal medical information when other staff members and patients in the waiting area can overhear the conversation. I completely understand that some information may be needed for scheduling purposes, but I believe there should be a more private and discreet way to handle those conversations to better protect patient confidentiality and comfort. Other than that concern, the quality of care from the medical team has been excellent.

Under reasonable suspicion, with corroborating symptoms, it was advised to me to visit my primary and begin a soft approach into the potential research of myself also being affected by it. The doctor ordered an EKG as preliminary, and tasked his nurse Maria to do so. In preparation she asked "something wrong with your heart?" I replied, "Unsure, this may be part of other things I'm researching.." Interrupted, she responded with a chuckle "like (insert my family members diagnosis) man Google can be such a liar huh?" Baffled, I gave an automated response being in shock that a nurse could so simply diminish the concerns I'm having, while also implying that I was there because Google MD told me to. Patients rely on medical staff to treat their concerns with professionalism and respect. Dismissing my visit with comments that implied I was overreacting or relying on Google was inappropriate and undermined my confidence in the care I was seeking. Taking initiative in my own health should not be met with ridicule. Experiences like this reflect poorly on the practice as a whole and ultimately influenced my decision to seek care elsewhere.

Shoutout to my down to earth and thorough Provider and caring medical assistant! All of my concerns were succinctly addressed and resolved- rather than dismissed or glossed over, which is so frustrating! The provider was accessible and friendly and Kate was very sweet. They are a great model for health-care staff in general; the way they treat all patients equally and with compassion as well as their willingness to address all concerns would be roundly welcomed at all hospitals, docs offices, and urgent cares. They even sent me home with supplies and a prescription available right next door at Walgreens. Super convenient setup. I can certainly understand seeing the Urgent Care patients right away, but those of us who come in early to "get in and get out" might be channeled into different staff so that we don't sit for almost half an hour after being the second person in the door.... Somewhat recently they posted a sign in the front that if you're coming in for your wellness check and you address anything other than what the wellness check covers, you will be charged for an additional appointment. I came in for my wellness check and because I'm very healthy, Dr. Smith and I spent most of the appointment chatting, which is fine- bloodwork is great, I'm feeling fine, no issues. BUT, because I asked if he could write me a prescription for Imitrex because I get migraines a couple times a year and like to have medication on hand, I get charged for an additional appointment. The reason was that this was a new prescription. We never discussed how to treat migraines, what causes them, how to prevent them... no, this was just a straight up "Can you write me a prescription?". Because I have not met my deductible, my now "free" wellness check has turned into a $325 dollar visit. I got charged for an extra 30 minute appointment when most of my time with the doctor was shooting the breeze. I also ended up being charged for lab work that last year was not charged because it was included in the "free" wellness check. They must've decided to tag the bloodwork into the "extra" appointment I was charged for, not the wellness check. I called the office about this and they ran it by the person who deciphers chart notes and decides what gets charged. I explained everything like I just did above. The result was that, No, I have to pay the $325. No scruples and pure greed. I am so angry.
