Maybe the positive reviews has gone to their heads. Went for lunch on a Sat. Arrived at noon, they were already out of hot links. The only sausages remaining were the house blend. Not sure how many of the other types they prepare each day (not enough to last till noon). The brisket had good flavor but other establishments can boast the same. It BBQ is only as good as what there is available. Maybe the morning was super busy and that could be the reason for the surly attitude of the young lady cutting and prepping the meat. Now for the best part of the experience; the second sandwich made, my wife noticed mold on the backside of the bun. She asked for the bun to be replaced. It was done so begrudgingly. She then asked for the first sandwiches bun to be checked. That's when the meat cutter explained that is would be ok because they came from the same bag of bread. SAY WHAT! Going forward, we're looking for the next BBQ place to try. read more

Best BBQ in East Texas! The brisket is delicious and juicy. I am not a fan of dry brisket and theirs is not. It melts in your mouth .

I had the BBQ ribs. They were falloff the tender and delicious yet I was disappointed to learn that they had only one choice of sauce. I prefer a HOT barbeque sauce, the hotter the better. If they offered a BBQ sauce I would have gladly rated them with 5 stars. Great outdoors admisffere near the square. read more

Best start to the new year learning that Rust BBQ was open on New Year's Day! Not to mention it is a Thursday and everyone in this town knows what that is...Taco Thursday and Twinkie Day! Yet again, Rust does not disappoint. There was a line and it went fast! Everyone seemed to be ordering for themselves- the businesses who order for the entire office must not have been open today-yay! The special smoked cabbage was outstanding, as were the special black-eyed peas and both came with generous circles of sausage and bacon pieces. Potato salad is consistently perfect. My husband branched out and got the Sibling- really good. Seemed everyone there was getting tacos, Twinkies, the Sibling or the Big Dill. Smart folks. I was too busy getting a dixie cup of green sauce and forgot all about dessert. Fortunately, the green sauce was 100% worth it and wish I had a gallon. Please make that concoction more often! read more

What to say. Well the line was long and moved supper fast. We had maybe 10 folks in front of us and we still got hand made right in front of us food in under 15 mins. As to the food it's amazing , fresh , made to order, made by folks who truly love IMV what they are doing. Brisket just melts as you eat it. Sides are amazing, staff is very friendly and the building gives you a very at home feel. Prices are great as well. The price I paid for a 2 meat plate, and a sausage link blew my mind. With 2 meat plate, you get 2 sides, a cobbler of choice and a drink. Overall great experience! read more

My wife and I had lunch there today and ate outside. Made me feel like I was at an old school BBQ place that I grew up around. The food was amazing and very plentiful. Was a little greasy but that what makes it fun to eat BBQ. "Finger licking good" as the saying goes. So they had plenty of paper towels. Staff were very nice and helpful. We will come back? I bought 3 beef sandwiches & 2 potato salads from East Texas Rust Smoked BBQ truck today - First time I ever saw it, so I thought I'd give it a try. I am very picky about my BBQ because back in the 80s, I had a HUGE portable smoker that I pulled with my big van to Bluegrass Festivals (Orange Blossom Special) and did private caterings. Cut my own wood, made my own "Secret Sauce, and made my own southern-style potato salad with mustard & boiled eggs. Well, I have to tell you that East Texas Rust BBQ was a winner today! The brisket was tender & tasty, the buns were very good, the BBQ sauce had a little "kick" to it, and the potato salad was spot-on Southern-style! Holy Smokes was everything delicious! They are situated across the street from the Winnsboro Farmers Market by the R/R tracks & depot - next door to that cool microbrewery, Cypress Creek Southern Ales. He finally went commercial with a BBQ trailer just a few years ago that opens for business Saturday morning and goes till product is sold out. His Breakfast Burn Ends Taco and Smashed Sausage Sandwich go fast cause they are truly exceptional. The locals have learned to arrive early if you're looking for a great start to the day. Located in parking lot of the local brewery (also 1st class) across from Winnsboro's Farmers Market. I'm a real foodie and since moving to the South in 1975 have been on a perpetual mission to find the best BBQ/smoked proteins. Clyde and his crew match, and in most instances, exceed what I've enjoyed from Austin, Lockhart, DFW, KC, TN, AR, the Carolina's, Korean... You'll never have a better brisket. A true test of a pitmaster to slow smoke a tough piece of meat into a moist, flavor balanced tender "news worthy" slab of beef. Best BBQ I've had in East Texas. Everything is on point from Tender and Juicy Brisket and Turkey, to addicting Elote. The Pork Belly Burnt Ends are spectacular, but you have to get there early as they sell out fast. Benefit is that it is in a Brewery parking lot so you get Beer and BBQ. read more
