He said he would do a "tune up" and the cost would be $140. When I picked it up, he had run drywall screw into the top of the air filter housing to stop the choke from closing all the way. (To compensate for a dirty carb that he did not address). So for $140, I got a new spark plug, he did not even change the air filter because I had recently done that, and he sharpened the blade. I used the mower a couple of times and it was still surging and down on power. I called him back and his reply was it was outside the 30 day warranty. I took it to Southside Hardware on 6401 Hampton 314-351-0204 and explained my situation to Steve. He stated he would remove the carb and thoroughly clean it, which is the root cause of the surge.

Dunham was the place to take lawnmowers for repairs for years and years…read more The last two times I took in my lawnmower for repair, it functioned the same or worse than before I took it in. The last time I took in my lawnmower for a tuneup it came back with a loose wheel nut/bolt. The wheel fell off shortly after I was cutting my grass for the first time after picking it up. They also offered and charged me for a non-stick coating for my mower deck. On pick up, the deck was the exact same as when I took it in, with no coating. New generation of owners and repair staff. No longer a good place to take your lawnmower. Unfortunately, I must admit that I don't trust them anymore for quality or ethical work and will never recommend them. I actually now advise people to avoid them.

The…read moreowner seemed to be knowledgeable initially, but upon picking up my repair, didn't seem to actually put any effort effort diagnosing my issue. He was more interested in receiving a service fee for doing essentially nothing. I'm almost positive that they misdiagnosed not one but both of my lawn mowers one of which I let them keep based on the information that they told me. When they told me the second lawnmower couldn't be repaired. I pushed back and asked them if I take it to another shop and they're willing enable to get it fixed then would my $50 be refunded being that you didn't fix my problem. The owner didn't responded well another shop might be able to get it up and running, but I still don't think it's gonna cut.. Like I said, I don't typically leave bad reviews about places like this, but something needs to be said. I really think you would be better off spending your money somewhere else where they value you and actually take the time to figure out what the issue is and it's less focused on keeping your money for a service fee. I was torn between taking my lawn equipment to this place and a few other places in North County. The other places were booked up and I now see why they were booked up. My advice, wait on the other lawnmower repair places that are booked up versus taking your equipment to these people. I work in Construction and very much have respect for people who work in a service industry but these people just aren't it.
