First time at an East Side Mario's and First time I must give them a failing grade. First we start with the food, my favourite here is seafood pasta, it was so over cooked I just couldn't eat it! Me!! Throwing away food!! Seriously never can happen! Then we can add the fact that we must have been forgotten as after one hour we gave up and asked for the food to go, plus the fact it was super cold and the wife couldn't take it anymore. To add one last nail to this story, when we got into our room I then noticed they never added the desert I ordered. the manager was nice enough and came over to apologize to me (wife already walked out) and gave us a 25% discount. I enjoy coming here with the kids and family. It's a hit or miss. When it's super busy, you'll expect to wait a really long time for your food and for your server to come. At least you can snack on the bread and soup/salad while you wait. Still a solid family restaurant and kid friendly. read more

Really decent restaurant and I think well priced. The interior looks nice and pretty new, nothing looked/felt grimey. The menu is clear and concise. Service was quick and our waitress was perfectly attentive. My father had the lasagna which had a really delicious cheese sauce thing inside. I had a spaghetti carbonara thing with veggies. We were just passing through (both our first times there) and I read the other reviews on here and was kind of nervous. Idk if it was a good day or if they upped the quality of the restaurant since the other reviews but honestly was two thumbs up from me and I'm a snob. read more

It took at least 45 minutes to receive our salads. They were a little busy but nothing too crazy. Our pasta had a tablespoon of sauce so we asked for more. Extra charge for that by the way. The bread did not have garlic like it was supposed to have and it was not unlimited we got 1 and they gave us another one since our entrees were not out. it wasn't the best experience I probably wouldn't go back. read more

They've really let themselves go. I don't usually write bad reviews of restaurants--I like to think I'm 'easy to please'--Plus, years back I actually quite liked this particular restaurant. But I'm moved to put pen to paper...err...fingers to keyboard by my breathtakingly underwhelming experience at East Sides. The worst dining experience that I can remember having (In Canada, anyways). Here's how it went down. I showed up about 8pm, The seating and first drink order were really slow. Probably at least 15 min. which is an eternity in restaurant time. It wouldn't get much better. The bread = cold. The margarine = oily+ slightly off. It made me a bit nauseous, which is really saying something, as I have a famously cast-iron stomach. The Caesar salad was stale and obviously not fresh. The main course (Spicy Chicken) was.... ok, I guess. It wasn't that great. I've had TV diners that have been better. Plus, the Sangria I ordered was rather lackluster. So to sum it all up. Service= initially slow (in fairness, it was ok, starting after the arrival of my drink), salad= bad, bread= bad, Entree= lame, Drink= lame. Boooo Eastsides. read more

I usually love East Side Mario's just like I love McDonald's. It's an establishment where you expect to taste the same flavours and eat the same thing verbatim. Before I start on the not so great stuff - here's the great stuff. The server was very nice and prompt. She was patient with our impatient kids. Food arrived when it arrived. Meh. The not so great stuff: What's up ESM for increasing prices and decreasing portion sizes? I was impressed that the kids meals were pretty generous but then I got my adult meal and it looked like a kids meal to me! I ordered the cheese cappalleti as I always do and it weirdly, the sauce was all on the side. The salad was great but it was a tiny bowl - and I wasn't quite sure if I could ask for more - the server didn't offer. My husband got a soup which was probably bigger than my pasta dish. I've been coming here for years. The prices have gone up and the quality has been going consistently down. Hard to get a decent cocktail that isn't sugary sweet. Wine is over priced for what it is. Unlimited salad but I wasn't offered a second helping and waitress didn't check back with us. She was very nice but not too attentive. There seems to be a shortage on salad dressing and sauce on pasta as well. You should not see pasta plain on your plate. Come on ESM, you were once an all time favorite. Stop skimping. read more

Have eaten here frequently and would normally rate better and because of this I didn't rate 1*. Haven't been in awhile so decided to revisit. Had the New Yorkah pizza. Very tasty but next morning awoke with food poisoning that evolved into a fever later in the day. Hadn't eaten anything since breakfast so no confusion as to the cause. For $16 for a personal pizza the least I hope for is fresh ingredients. Might be awhile before we return. read more

Order our food, waitress forgets out waters for 10 mins, comes back and informs us that my soup is out, the Italian wedding. Get my replacement salad, take two bites and push it to the side, cheap ceaser dressing, no cheese and 4 tiny croutons. Hope dinner is better. we wait an hour and 15 minutes, I ordered Alfredo with chicken. This takes 5 minutes to make. Comes out and I struggle to find any chicken. I find 2.5 strips buried under the noodles. Not sure why that is a presentation standard here. Take a bite of the noodles, overcooked, sauce is very bland, no garlic, pepper, salt, cheese. Just tastes like heavy cream. I ate the two tiny strips of chicken and decide this is bullshit especially after the long wait. Push it aside, let me waitress know why it's not good and my experience was ruined. Oh yea and took her 12 minutes to even check on us, didn't bring us anymore napkins either. Ask for the bill, comes with my meal I didn't eat on it. Ask her to remove it, she goes to speak with her manager. Comes back and only 50% was removed and the manager didnt come to the table to speak with us. I will never come back to this place. This is the 3rd time now this has been disappointing and this time pushed it way over the edge. I've been in the restaurant business for 20 years and would never in my wildest dreams charge a customer for a meal they didn't eat. Literally went home and ate leftovers from Thai express. Poor service, poor food and don't even talk about table placement and how awkward it is, remove two tables in the main section so there room to move and feel comfortable. Like many places I've gone to eat, I selected to come to this particular restaurant for the atmosphere. If you're looking to be able to converse with another person, think again. East Side's is for loud crowds and loud people who don't mind shouting to be heard. If your date thinks being loud is wrong, don't come here. You'll only leave them with a bad impression of you. East Side's is generally crowded, and there are often times when singing begins as ESM employees gather around a poor sap who is celebrating a birthday or an anniversary. My favourite parts about ESM is the unlimited bread and salad - but you have to ask to get the "unlimited" part. Again, not cool if you're worried about looking like a glutton or if the people you are with think it's wrong to hail down an employee to get more Ceasar Salad. I had the 8 ravioli meal which seemed a little pricey for what you get... but I had to keep in mind that I also received salad and bread with it and that it's "included" in the price. My meal was "Ok". I've made more interesting things at home, though the ravioli being "stuffed" is a nice treat. My date had chicken parmigiana... I'm probably spelling that wrong. It was absolutely filling and according to him was great. ESM... don't go if you want to get to know someone. To avoid the awkward non-silence, don't go "hear" if you want to talk... and come in a crowd, and be prepared to pay roughly 40$ for 2 people and no frills on top of that. read more

I asked if the food was made at head office and warmed in a convection oven... They said "no." I'm not convinced. Food is barely passable. Everything is bready and bland. Prices are high considering what they serve. We have been here a few times (because the local area doesn't offer much) and each time is worse. When I reviewed this location previously (a year or two ago), I commented on the noise level and suggested they install some sound dampening material on their vaulted ceiling. Nothing has been done about it and the place was extremely and unpleasantly noisy - our group of six could not talk at dinner or hear each other without shouting. Cold food, incorrect orders and too many ruined outings to be worth taking a chance on. Management doesn't really care about making things right! A couple of years ago, they screwed up my burger 3 times before getting it right and our evening was ruined. After complaining, I was offered a $5.00 voucher! My experience at east side marios in Cornwall was good. The service was friendly and decent which is always a good thing. They keep that delicious bread coming all night until you've had enough. The soup that comes with your meal is really good. I always get the Italian Wedding soup. The pasta is freshly made. It's definitely not authentic, the cheese is too creamy. But it's not bad. Typical chain style restaurant the rush you in and rush you out. I feel like they're pulling our plates away from us while we are still eating. More recently the quality seems to be on par with a microwaveable Michelina dinner. Not worth the money read more

Absolute worst service I have ever had! We arrived there for dinner last evening at 4:30 PM hoping we would be out in time to get my young children in bed as they are starting back to school today... The server had absolutely no idea what she was doing... Took her an hour and 10 minutes just to get drinks to the table then another 30 minutes to get soup and salad to the table. She didn't know her menu and was unaware that the soup and salad was included with our meals... The bread was hard as a rock and not unlimited we had to ask for more and they only brought us one baguette for a party of 7. By the time they came with our food It was 6:45 PM and two of our plates were wrong... The food had been sitting under the pass heat lamps for so long that majority of our plates were dry and gross! The manager on duty walks around and screams constantly at her servers. It was a very uncomfortable environment for my children! My children were rather startled numerous times with her yelling TRANSFER at the top of her lungs. We are part of the kids club and have the cards which we normally use at the other location in Ottawa, well let me just say I basically had to fight to have my child get his meal and when I tried presenting the coupon for the free appetizer they told me I had to email head office in order to receive it and they would not except the coupon that they had emailed me. Absolute terrible experience! Way overpriced cost me $53 for soda water, pizza and a fry... I will never return to this location and highly recommend to save your money and go somewhere else!! read more
