We have given this place plenty of chances. First time was terrible, the food all tasted similar and was so sweet that no-one could eat much of it. We complained and they said next time they would make it less sweet. They did, although apparently there were some dishes they couldn't change (no surprise). The tikka jalfrezi was good, so we went again, but the last time, the take-away was so awful we have to say NEVER AGAIN. Garlic chicken and tikka jalfrezi tasted very similar, the jalfrezi was so bad I thought it had been mixed up with something else, like a microwave meal or something, but it hadn't, it tasted of sugar, ghee and chili powder. The portions were small. Overall a thoroughly disappointing meal. It's a real shame, if like us you look forward to having Indian food once every two weeks or so, then do yourself a favour and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! we have given this place plenty of chances and saved a few quid on each dish paying in cash but it is not worth it. There are plenty of far better options in the area that are not too expensive. Down the road both Joy and Maya are superb and for a good quality more traditional (English) Indian restaurant then Red Rose is great. Would highly recommend going down to Prithi on Ewell Rd.
East India is cheap and good for people used to eating terrible Indian food, those who just like their food loaded with sugar and salt. The reason this place keeps going is because these people are out there. Shame on you!
One star is for the one passable dish you might get for every five you order. read more
