This office was started by husband and wife vets, Dr. Tom and Dr. Sue Klein. We started visiting them because, at the time, they were some of the only vets we could find who were knowledgeable about treating parakeets. Since then, we have moved on to a dog, then three cats. Through the years, our animals have received consistently excellent care from this office. Even as we have moved all over town, first in Gahanna, then in Powell, we continue to stick with them - wouldn't think of taking our pets anywhere else!

Had a wonderful experience this weekend with Dr. Tom and his staff! I brought my new puppy in for her first check-up and we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Dr. Tom was also very thorough and warm. He answered my many questions and educated me about any procedures that needed to be done. He added a personal touch by texting me later to thank me for our business. Kathy, one of the vet techs, spent a lot of time with me helping me with some great training techniques and gave me recommendations for trainers. I definitely feel comfortable putting my new baby's health in their hands!

So this is the vet that Lori Keller referred me to from the Hedgehog Rescue where I got my three Hedgie Avengers. I had to take Loki in because she seems to be bleeding from somewhere and I want to make sure it's not serious. Apparently hedgies her age can be prone to cancer of their uterus. I also had to bring Thor here a few months ago to deal with a scab on his neck. In both instances we were greeted warmly, seen quickly and the vibe in the office is very cozy, like everyone really likes each other and their jobs. The waiting room also has bottled water which is always a plus for me! Loki was seen by a female doctor who's name I promptly forgot. She was super nice annnndddd she said Loki was really pretty Which I agree with but I am biased. I think Loki is like a Hedgie Marylin Monroe actually but I digress. She was checked out and seems fine so she will be on antibiotics for two weeks then see if she will need to be spayed after we see if she bleeds more. Which so far she hasn't I will take her back to be checked and update with pics!

Arnie is happy with his new toy from his first visit to East Hilliard Veterinary Services!

I feel very confident in the care my cats receive. Prices are a but high, but I believe you get what you pay for.

Tom was thorough with explaining my options for my dog's broken tooth, and ultimately was able to save it.

My dog is extra nervous about vet visits. They have put pheromones on a neckerchief, fed her spray cheese on a stick, and given her treats in an effort to make friends and try to relax her. It doesn't work, but they can give her an exam, give her shots, weigh her, and trim her nails. During the pandemic, no one was allowed in with their dog so I would call to say we were here, and a vet tech would come get her. The vet would talk to me in the parking lot afterwards. The park and call signs are still up (they tell me to bring her in) which I appreciate because as a stressed dog she tends to bark at other dogs that might be too close to her or me. We can slip in and go to the exam room quickly. Right now there is a respiratory disease going around making dogs ill and deteriorating rapidly. They have a sign on the door to not bring in coughing dogs. They obviously care about the safety of their employees and the animals in their care. Payment can be done in the exam room and a .pdf receipt is sent to my email which makes insurance claims easy.

I walked up to the front desk and interrupted her conversation about pasta that she continued until finished without even acknowledging me. I then asked for my dog's vaccination records and her heart worm prescription so I could start ordering it to my home instead of having to come in monthly. She not only couldn't comprehend my question but then scolded me for not calling ahead when I simply decided to drop by before picking up my toddler from preschool. Every other vet I've ever been to, in several other states, this would've been an in and out issue. Extremely unprofessional. As a former business owner of one of my front desk staff had acted this way towards a customer, they would've been fired on the spot.

I ended up discovering it myself once we got home. Additionally, some of the front desk staff showed a complete lack of empathy and did not take concerned pet parents seriously. I witnessed one woman bring in her dog--she was clearly distressed and spoke English as a second language--and the front desk employee made no effort to treat her or her pet with kindness. The interaction was dismissive and lacked basic compassion. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. I strongly recommend going to a different MedVet location. The front desk staff here seem overwhelmed and in need of a break, and unfortunately, it shows in the level of care and compassion provided.

From the moment I walked in, no one even took me seriously. They asked me why I brought him in and I told them gastrointestinal issues. They asked if he was urinating and I was like "ummmm maybe?" The person at the front desk called for a tech "stat because the cat isn't urinating." We get into a room and they come in a few minutes later after examining him wanting to ask some questions. I told them another cat in my house had just had gastrointestinal issues and been sick (brought it home from the vet's office the week prior we think). That wasn't even a question in their mind. The doctor who came to talk to me wanted to focus on "stress at home" and asked about his litter box and food. Then brought out an estimate for $1200 to have an x Ray and bloodwork done even though he had JUST had his wellness check at the vet within the last month and he was given a clean bill of health. They said "well things can change in a day." Ok fine - you're the professionals so I trust you. Nearly two hours later they come back and inform me that the bloodwork was normal and his x Ray was negative for blockage or abnormalities in his abdomen (thank goodness!) but said they could keep him and hospitalize him and send him for additional testing with an internal medicine doctor if I "really wanted to get to the bottom of things." They gave me NO answers and guidance about what was likely the problem and the doctor actually said "it could be cancer. We don't really know," and urged me to hospitalize him for what I'm sure would have been thousands more. I opted to get them to give him subcutaneous fluids and an anti nausea medication so I could take him home and pursue care with his primary vet. Turns out: virus. Thanks for the nice scare throwing out cancer for a 5-year old healthy cat with normal bloodwork and exams. Way to live those core values of caring about your patients and customers. I will NEVER use MedVet ever again. It is the biggest ripoff and runaround.
