I am visiting my son in Dallas & helping Granddaughter move out of Garland TX. I needed a place close to both. This was a perfect spot. Maria greeted me at gate. I told her I was in site 15 for 2 days then moving over to site 13 for ten days. She said give me a few minutes I will call the guy in site 13, because she thought he had left early. I had to unload my tow car anyway, so I said great. She called me a few minutes later saying guy had left & I could just park in 13 for the duration. This saved me having to unhook & move RV. THAT IS great customer service!! Now the park. The sites are spacious, deep & wide. Easy to back into. Great areas to walk your dogs. Showers need a little TLC, but I checked all 3 that were open (1 was being repaired). One had a good shower I I took an early shower after setting up. The fields around the park are well maintained. Road getting to park (maintained by city was a little rough). No street sign at turn off, due to construction on road. Price to stay here is fantastic. Close to Dallas area & many other cities. I highly recommend this place. read more

Even though the park is for the most part is well kept outside; however, I cannot say that about the bathrooms. I am greatly disappointed at the condition of the bathrooms and the showers. I wish the money that was put into the park would be used to remodel the entire bathroom and showerfrom scratch and make it modern. It's so unfortunate that the leaders are supposed to upkeep public spaces are abusing the income of taxpayer money to benefit themselves. The gatekeepers nevertheless are very lovely people who greet customers. Therefore photos I have taken of the showers that I think needs to be addressed publicly and hopefully somebody will take action and fix the issue. Plus, there's no heater or fan in the bathroom that works. In the bathroom that doesn't have electricity doesn't have electricity and yet people still pay $14 a night for the entire system. read more

Nice views of Lake Lavon. Nice swim, beach area and launch site for kayaks and paddle board. Clean single use showers/bathrooms. PFD's available to borrow. Picnic areas with shade. Plenty of parking for day use. Lots of great car/RV shaded sites and tent camping. Large group private car/tent pavilion rental. read more

My friends and I love coming here to swim and to camp just bring bug repellent. Just a heads up the gate closes at sundown but you can leave at any time. read more

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Booked online and breezed through the gate. Our campsite was convenient to the lake, clean and fairly well maintained. It was a short walk to the restrooms and showers, which were cleaned daily while we were there. read more

Very rude at gate, better have exact change or risk Having to leave and come back, Heaven forbid if you are pulling a boat. I could not find hours online so I figured people take their boats out early to fish and I showed up about 9 and only then did I find out they don't open until 10. Post your damn hours!! Not bad but they need to mow. Clean this place up. I've never been bitten by so many mosquitoes in my entire life combined. I have two citronella candles, a fire burning while it's 100 degrees, dynatrap, and a bug zapper and there is still an infestation of mosquitoes. Mower is just sitting at camp hosts RV not being used. I even volunteered to mow and they said no. read more

Absolutely the worst campground in the country. There is thousands of mesquites and the grass is very very tall not maintained at all and the old man at the front gate is mean and hateful. Would never stay here again. read more

Fantastic park however, Be sure you bring exact change! Never fails they don't have any change by 10:30am and they're super rude about it every time. I'm sure to bring a change now but still see them getting all upset at everyone. Simply resolve the problem you face weekly by preparing a till like any another normal business might practice. read more

This place is practically abandoned and not maintained. We had a hail storm while here (softball size) and very few places to run for cover in a storm situation like wind or tornado. On top of that they close and LOCK the gate at 10PM sharp so if you are late back you need to park on the street and walk in sometimes a quarter mile in the dark. (also you better not need an ambulance or have any emergency at night!) The bathrooms are outhouses and i have not seen any showers in the area. You have to haul your trash a good distance unless you park next to a dumpster and the potholes may cause damage to the undercarriage of your rig while the untrimmed trees will do a number to your roof. There are no sewer hookups due to the broken septic system that once was so the dump station is outside the campground. The 50 amp hookup cannot run at 50 amps. (40 if you are lucky) Not even a good view of the lake. All this and more pain and frustration can be yours for the high price of over 200 for the week. I am not sure where that money goes but i bet they pay the guy in the guard shack to sleep and watch TV all day and blame Obama if you ask about a concern. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else even if you have to drive a bit more or pay a bit extra. Needless to say... nevermore. read more

Never Going Back!!! The four people that run the front gate were the rudest people I've encountered in a very long time. I arrived at 10 on the dot (yes that my fault I should have looked that up) but they way they behaved was beyond hateful and demeaning. After having the cops called because i was an intruder, being yelled at and lectured like a 5 yr old, told i was disrupting a completely empty park by shutting my car door, told to leave now then told I could stay but to get down to the site and not to talk, make noise and I better not make them come out of their trailers again, I was reluctantly allowed to visit with my friends. I was shocked at how mean everyone of them were. I tried to apologize (several times) and thank them for letting me stay to visit my bf and her guy when the old lady from the front trailer cut me off telling me to be quite, get down to the site, see my friend then get out there! The two hours I spent there was uncomfortable and constant paranoia my vehicle was going to be towed even though it was distastefully "approved" to park. I left and was happy to see that Park in me rear-view!! I will never go there again and I will encourage anyone and everyone I meet to never go there either! read more

The staff at the gate were friendy and helpful. The site was gravel and fairly level. Everything about the park is very old and could use refreshing. The pavilion was concrete and had a nice picnic table under cover. However, there were spiders and webs everywhere(including in bathrooms). Bathrooms were pretty clean but again, really old and rusty looking. The lake was at a critically low level and all ramps and boating were closed. It was quiet and peaceful at the park, other than the trains nearby. But they didn't bother us at all. The main road through the park was in disrepair and is in dire need of repaving. This park is nicely spread out so you have plenty of space. It's a nice park that is showing its age. We stayed in a 40 ft 5th wheel RV. read more

This is a wonderful park to camp in. The spaces are large and far apart. Nobody is squeezed together. It's like we each have our own 1/4 acre. We always park so that our back window faces the lake. It is such a beautiful view. I have no comments on the restrooms because we never need them. The park is quiet and orderly. Have never encountered any rowdiness. read more

I love this park and my husband and I have been going there for a long time just to day picnic and also launch the boat and fish. However I was there just this past weekend, June 16, 2013 and was so disappointed in the shape of the park. The grass was so tall it made walking difficult, all the garbage cans were so full you could not use them and the bathrooms were deplorable!
