We'd had a flood in our city apartment and knew The Carpet Man via neighbors on the East End, who…read moreurged us to partake of their great selection. We saw they had a one-day annual sale in September, so off we went to explore what they had. We were blown away by the breadth of selection for not only carpets and rugs, but all types of flooring, window treatments and textiles. This is one of the rare remaining non-chain places that clearly takes pride in both wide selection and customer service. We were greeted upon arriving by Paula, who was deftly handling a couple of other shoppers, and were thrilled she took the time to devote her attention to us so quickly. We came with room layouts with dimensions and a range for each room's rug type possibilities we'd already felt could work. Paula helped us zoom right in to both new roll and remnant possibilities quickly. We chose and sat down to work through the edge finishing options within minutes. The owner was circulating, answering questions, and we came to know that everyone around us had worked for him for a decade or more. Between the care taken by Paula and her teammates and the ease of the transaction, we confirmed how both the new roll and remnants would be cut and finished, and were connected with an excellent delivery service to bring our finished goods to the city. Not for a minute did we feel rushed or not completely looked after. Not only will the Carpetman see us again for both our East End and City-based needs, we've already urged others to go there who are in the market for rugs, flooring, window treatments and the like. Can't recommend The Carpetman enough! Before you shop online or with one of those chain retailers, go to The Carpetman first! First-rate customer service and selection--or tell your architect to!

While this company employs people who do very good work eventually, I found the owners of the…read morecompany Anthony Heaney and his mother Rose Anne to be impossible to work with. They were extremely unprofessional, not careful to follow our clear instructions (meaning that most things had to be redone, putting us behind schedule with our clients) and did not have any sense of customer service. They went through two administrators in the brief time I worked with them, both of whom were very polite and efficient but unfortunately they don't seem to be able to keep that position filled. Rose Anne was always shrill with me and my office and when her lack of knowledge of upholstery and drapery terminology frequently resulted in a misunderstanding she became immediately and unnecessarily defensive, actually shrieking on the telephone on more than five occasions. Ultimately we were forced to collect at our own expense the furniture we had there for upholstery and take our business elsewhere. When calling around to other local businesses I was told that Rose Anne was notoriously shrill and impossible and they often got Hampton Interiors' former clients for that reason alone.

Very disappointed with Johnston's customer service and do not recommend this company. I don't write…read morereviews but I felt with the lack of sympathy this deserved to be shared. I called Johnston's to schedule a cleaning about a month ago, notifying them that my housekeeper called me saying that my renters had made quite a mess so far on the dining room chairs, dining room rug and couch. I pre-scheduled them a month advance to come clean up when the renters checked out as I had another renter checking in two days later. I called them the day before just to confirm my appointment and telling her all 8 dining room chairs were filthy as well as the rug and this was a semi-urgent issue as I cannot rent out the house like this and told them I would like to schedule them for the entire day as they would need to stay until the job is done. "The lady who always answers the phones" said she allowed extra time for my house. The next morning I got called to work for an emergency surgery so when the company showed up at my gate they called my cell phone and when I didn't answer they left. I called back 30 minutes later when I was able to use my phone and the driver didn't answer. I tried him three more times then called the company's main number back and received nothing but attitude and blame. The lady said the driver cannot return to the house he was already on his way to another job, even though I booked him for the entire day! I felt 30 minutes was not a big deal to cancel the day and he could've at least knocked on my front door as there were people in the house waiting for him to show up. The lady was going to call the driver and see what he could do and see if he can come later in the day, yet she never called me back to check on anything or give me an update. I felt like if I had booked an appointment a month in advance AND also told her it was semi-urgent the day prior that they could've tried a little harder to knock on my front door (climb over a 4-ft fence) rather than call my cell phone and leave! Long story longer, I will not call again.
