I have been seeing Dr. Clark twice weekly for 2 years. It has been life-changing. I am a 72-year-old male with scoliosis, arthritis, a cervical fusion, and unequal leg length. I was using a walker and at times a chair prior to this treatment regime with Dr. Clark. I had just about resolved myself to finish out my days with limited mobility. Now, I sometimes use a cane---not for support---just balance, particularly when waking the dogs (a beloved activity that I had almost abandoned) but most times not.
He uses a combination of chiropractic adjustment and massage therapy, smoothing out all the painfully tightened defensive muscles until they are supple enough to allow a gentle but profound adjustment. He is uncommonly sensitive to the direction of the patient. He encourages feedback and tailors the treatment session to fit my particular needs for each day.
My presenting problem was my hip and leg pain on the shorter side. Dr. Clark does an excellent manual traction. He gently massages all the muscles involved before he begins slow, steady, persistent and very effective traction. He uses the same technique on my neck.
Because of my unequal leg length, one of all my pairs of shoes has a built-up sole. Unfortunately, this was not prescribed until I was in my 60's, so I leaned toward the short side all my life. Consequently, one shoulder is about 2-3 inches lower than the other. It's pretty astounding to see the difference after treatment.
Every time he leaves, I run to the mirror to admire my level shoulders! Best of all, it lasts 3 or 4 days and since he comes twice a week, my posture is better than it was 20 years ago. My wife jokes that I am always taller after Dr. Clark leaves. Relatives that haven't seen me in a while comment on how different I look without the "Leaning Tower of James" effect and walking erect without my "old man stoop".
An added benefit that I did not expect is Dr. Clark's skill at craniofacial therapy. In addition to the known anxiety and stress-reducing properties of this treatment, I find that there is nothing, pharmaceutical or otherwise, better for my headaches; and this is coming from someone who has been prescribed opiates in the past. 'Words fail, but the best way I can describe what this treatment does for me is that it imparts a profound sense of wellbeing. From that font emerges clearer thinking, an improvement in my problem solving skills and, dare I say, an increase in creativity. read more
