I never planned on being a single mother, but sometimes life sets you on an unexpected path. Being a single mom is one of the hardest, most empowering things I've ever done. I wish I could return to the moment in time when I enrolled my three young children and myself for LTSD. I wish I could whisper in that new single mom's ear and say, "This is a flagship moment in your new life; this is going to transition you and your children into finding you are stronger than you ever imagined." Together we have entered numerous karate competitions, ranked up several belts, and dragged ourselves to class when we would rather stay home on screens; we have found grit, bravery, hope, and a new family...a karate family. I am also an educator. The students and young black belt instructors are a vision of hope in a world that sometimes feels hopeless; watching them instruct my children makes me know the world will be okay. Karate kicks hopelessness. All the AP and honor classes in the world could not compare to what path this will set your child on. I used to carry a grief that darkened my soul. Lots of classes, machines, space for stretching, showers, lockers, nutritional guidance- you name it. I especially love that when you take the classes the instructor does it with you. It's easier to follow and less intimidating than having someone simply bark orders while they stare at you. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is the price. I personally find it to be extremely high. Again, it's worth it, but not in most people's budgets. Getting fit & healthy shouldn't be a bank breaker.
