I booked a car and pre-paid with the Liverpool airport office of Easirent through Ryanair, with an arrival time of my plane of 10:45pm After leaving the terminal building I found that Easirent is not located at the rental desk area at the airport (I found out later that it's on a poorly lit street on a warehousing estate outside the main airport estate). so I then had to phone the company to arrange for someone to collect me at the airport and was told to wait in the express car park at the airport. After being picked up, the driver of the car told me that I had to pay £2 to allow the car to exit the car park. I later found that I would have had to pay the same to return to the airport after dropping off car at the end of my rental, I chose to walk instead. On arrival at their office I was told I needed to pay £20 on top of the rental charge I had already paid, as I was picking up the car after 10pm (something know at the time of booking). A charge that I've never been presented with by any the many companies I've rented from in the past and the inclusion of it at that time made for an unfair price comparison with other companies at the time of booking. I had to fill in an extensive form at their office, with the kind of details that other rental companies automatically generate on a rental agreement, which then only require a couple of signatures. In daylight the following morning I found that the car had not been properly cleaned, with splashes of dirt on the inside of the drivers door and had various packing materials in the boot, which I'd been unable to see when I collected it, due to how it was parked at their office, making the boot inaccessible. Not impressed, with the car or the service, especially as the hoops I had to jump through delayed my departure by about 40 minutes compared with other companies I have used that are actually based at the airport. I booked a seven passenger mpv for twenty days from September 8th to the 20th, as we were traveling to various places in the UK. I needed a larger vehicle so we could seat seven passengers and their luggage comfortably. I chose Easirent because on the website they listed a seven passenger Dodge Caravan, as I own one myself in the US I new it was just what we needed. After a 10 hour flight we had to take a shuttle van 25 minuets to the Crown plaza hotel,when we got there they had a long line of really upset customers all waiting for cars, we got to the front of the line after one hour only to be told that they dont have any seven passenger cars in their fleet and would a five passenger Mitsubishi Outlander be ok NO I said we have more passengers and luggage. The agent then said we can upgrade you to a 9 passenger van but he would have to charge me more money, after waiting all this time i agreed and he said that it was not on site so they would have to get it and to wait in the hotel until it was ready. This place was in turmoil as they were losing keys and cars their runners had no radio communication with the desk cars were parked in laybys and store car parks, a complete disaster. We had lunch in the Hotel and still no car, so I went out side to see what was going on and they had a Vauxhaul getting washed and said that it was for me. I went inside and said I am not paying for a Mercedes and taking a Vauxhaul so they said they would have to go and get it so we waited some more, finally after three and a half hours they bring the Mercedes that was filthy and out of fuel and to wait while they clean it. More time waisted. after four hours we just got out of there. When we stopped at our hotel we found that the passenger seats didnt recline, as my wife has a bad back she could not ride in this vehicle for 20 days. We made the trip as far as Cardiff and tried to exchange the Mercedes for an other vehicle, I tried Cardiff and Heathrow offices and was told they only had the same vehicles so I told them I was returning the van and renting from Enterprise which had a 8 passenger van for half the price of Easirent so I took it. When returning the van to Cardiff The agent who was very apologetic said he would make sure we got a complete refund I have contacted Easirent headquaters in Liverpool and they said sorry no refund as per policy which is not in their policy and please accept a 10% discount on the next rental.
