They were so accommodating to myself and my two friends who had purchased a Groupon for a gift. For those people complaining about having to walk through her garage to get to her home business, get over your elitist self and take a chill pill. You've never had to grind before? The spa space itself is very relaxing, lovely ocean murals and art, and is kept clean and organized. The music playing was soothing, combined with a bubbling fountain. They offered us a paraffin wax hand treatment, the scalp massage with aromatherapy, as well as a relaxing foot soak in imported bowls. As I was waiting for my friends to complete their thirty minute massages, they offered me hot lavender neck pillows and an eye mask that put me right to sleep. Phoenix offered to either give me a single thirty minute massage or a fifteen minute tandem with her daughter (I'm sorry I forgot her name, but she was also licensed and works at a nearby chiropractic office.) The massage itself was incredible, they both listened to my feedback on the level of pressure and offered great advice to reduce my headaches and neck tension. I would absolutely return here multiple times.

This is a no frills, affordable massage. Remember, just a massage and no extras. Don't judge the book by the cover being in a run down strip mall on 99 (Pac Hwy). It looks shady but it's just a hole in the wall. Even if the sign isn't on, just ring the bell. But once you're in the therapy room, it's no different than what you're used to. The website and booking is out of date, so just call for an appointment. $70 for 60 mins is much cheaper than the $110-140 you pay elsewhere.

I visited Orchid Spa Massage yesterday after a long workday because I desperately needed stress…read morerelief and planned to book either a 60-minute or 90-minute massage depending on timing. Unfortunately, I got off work later than expected, so I chose the 60-minute massage instead. Before arriving, I checked the business website and clearly saw that a 60-minute massage was advertised as $60. However, once I was brought into the room, the owner informed me the price would be $70. At first, I questioned myself and wondered if maybe I had misread the website, so I agreed and moved forward with the service in good faith. I also shared that I'm a content creator and mentioned that their business could benefit from positive exposure through video content and reviews. The owner seemed interested and receptive at the time. Now let me be very clear about one thing: Coco, the massage therapist, was AMAZING. Coco took her time, paid attention to detail, and focused heavily on the stress knots and tension I was carrying. She was kind, professional, thorough, and honestly gave one of the better massages I've had in a long time. She absolutely deserved a generous tip, and I tipped her because her work spoke for itself. The issue was never Coco. The issue was integrity and transparency from management. After the massage, I politely pulled up the website and showed the owner that the advertised price for a 60-minute massage was indeed $60. Instead of honoring the posted pricing, she asked me why I agreed to pay $70. She then stated that she has "told them multiple times to update the website pricing," but still refused to honor the advertised amount. That response was disappointing. As a business professional myself, I believe customers should not be held responsible for inaccurate pricing displayed on a company's own website. I actually went in fully intending to pay more overall anyway -- my original plan was to pay around $80 total including tip because I appreciated the work Coco did. But the principle mattered to me. I wanted to see whether the owner would acknowledge the mistake and do the ethical thing when presented with proof. Unfortunately, that did not happen. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that immediately afterward, my Asian friend went into the same establishment and was quoted the correct website price without issue. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistency in treatment left me feeling uneasy and questioning why I was quoted differently. To be fair: for Coco for management and business practices If you book here, I highly recommend Coco specifically because her massage skills are excellent. However, I also strongly encourage customers to confirm pricing before services begin and ensure the business honors the rates publicly advertised on their web

Consider me a convert!…read more After a stressful few weeks I found myself on the prowl for a great massage. Being a little naive on the subject, (I was a massage virgin) I thought I'd do some research on Yelp. After seeing a few posts in the events section about stress control and meditation classes, I looked up the Ascension Wellness Center. Not only do they offer treatments of various kinds for both mind and body, they offer exactly what I was looking for... massages! Des Moines isn't exactly a hop skip and a jump from Seattle so I had to be convinced this place was great. After speaking with Jason, (who posted the events I'd seen) I was sold. And by 'sold' I mean I got naked in front of a stranger, sold! My appointment was with a lovely woman named Sonia. Before the actual massage we sat together and filled out the necessary paperwork. I discussed problem areas and she helped work out a customized massage plan for me. I sincerely felt like she listened to what I needed and wanted from the experience. I'd heard stories about how massages can hurt, how it can be a little awkward to be naked, etc. This was totally not so with Sonia. I felt I was in good hands. Literally! In addition to pampering myself with a massage I also tried a cleanse called Aqua Detox. Initially I feared that I'd signed myself up for a colonic. (See my Tummy Temple review!) It's essentially a foot soak where toxins are released through the pores in your feet. It was seriously crazy. I've never seen anything like it but the procedure itself was fascinating. So if you're looking for a spot to get your back rubbed and your nails and hair done - skip out on Ascension. If you're looking for a place where your health is at the center of attention, I'd recommend giving this place a shot. The people who work there are personable and attentive, the spa itself is clean and inviting and it's still a small enough operation where you feel like you're their only priority. Stay tuned - I think I'm headed back to try some meditation and hypnosis next time!
